Fork

A forked tree rises toward the sky, reaching and never quite getting there.

The same tree as this one, this tree happens to be.

It appears to be pretty dry and heavily weathered.

The tree also blends well with the rocks.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 368: Reaching for Rock Bottom

Once more, another attempt at writing that has not quite worked, so here is my third attempt for the evening and I really think it will be a stinker.

Tonight I have gone on the voyage of crap writing, so this has to be the worst. I may hit rock bottom, although not tonight, for there are other ways in which to do so.

I do know that I am sitting here, trying to find a way and that way will be closed off in every single way known to me, so I must indeed dig far deeper than I ever have.

Maybe I need to go and cross the valley of the known in order to enter the unknown and find myself swimming among a school of plants that nibble away at the thoughts that leave the doubts upon my very mind, for that is the only way to reach a conclusion of satisfactory delights.

Once that is done, will I truly be able to say that I have indeed hit rock bottom? I do not know, to be honest.

Perhaps I need to ride on the majestic wheelie bin of justice up hill whilst under the most feet of snow that can be known and induce some sort of cosmic bleeding upon the hearts of men in order to truly hit rock bottom. Perhaps that will be the way forward, but there is only one way down and that is up and slightly to the left.

Perhaps I need to stare Migaloo in the eye and tell the poor being that I will not tolerate this sport of tomfoolery any more. Perhaps I shall shake my fist and make sure that my pose is as strong as the dint of original life is shining into the darkness and beyond all that is within reach of someone with very little reach. Perhaps I need to make sure that the ball that turns upon the axis of the numbers rotating in their tormented shrieks of misuse is not doing the thing that which is not what it is to do.

Perhaps I need to find a way in order to bottom the rock and make sure that whilst it is rock bottom, there are no other rocks underneath the rocks at rock bottom so that I truly have reached the rock bottom stage of rock bottom.

Perhaps I need to find myself in a location that I can see and do the things that I need to do, such as write coherently.

Perhaps I need to stop going along this train of thought and find my way home once work finishes, so that I can get a good rest and wake up in the morning in order to tackle another day of work that is set ahead of me.

There’s probably a lot of thing that I need to do, and many ways in which they can be done.

Perhaps the wheelie bin idea needs more rocket boosters for acceleration.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:24:51

Eh.

I guess this was alright.

Written at work.

Weathered Rocky Landscape

Being exposed to a few of the elements, you can see that this area is quite “Weathered“.

Very much like all of Australia.

It makes me wonder how this particular area would have looked thousands of years ago.

The rock on the right is quite large. It’s larger than it appears in this photo.

I like the way that the rock flattens out, its texture and form, the pattern it creates, as well as the colour and light shift throughout the photo.

It makes me think about the history of Avoid Island.

This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.

I hope you enjoy.

Apartment Complex

I was seeing a friend’s place near the end of 2017 and had the opportunity to appreciate some of the views that surrounded their abode.

This one is not the best of views. However, I do think it is interesting.

The sky appears massive, but at the same time feels blocked away.

The buildings are tall and take up a lot of the view, but at the same time feel small.

I think I made the photo a little too dark, but I do like how it affects the geometry and detail of the photo.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

If you enjoy monochrome photography, then I strongly recommend checking out Monochrome Madness. If you do photography, then I also recommend submitting.

I also recommend checking out Leanne Cole’s work outside of Monochrome Madness.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 367: Exam, Wrist, Learning

Well, here I am, not at work, typing away on a keyboard in a library and the keyboard is quite loud, which is something that I consider to be a bit annoying considering that I’m in a library and am now making significantly more noise than anyone or anything else in here, but them’s the breaks and you have to deal with what you have to deal with.

An exam today of considerable writing and I’m not feeling too fussed. Waiting for the stress and uncertainty to set in. Probably have not had enough coffee. Not yet, anyway. I need all of that to kick in so then I can go into the exam freaking out about my chances and then have no idea as to what I should do whilst non-carefully plotting out all of my answers in some sort of dance between stress and the feeling of failure.

I think that I ma do well, but only time will tell.

I’m sitting here, typing away as I feel like not doing much else other than writing right now. I have a lecture to attend. I have other things to take care of, but writing trumps all and as this currently does not involve pen to paper, I think that I can cope pretty well with what I am doing.

I need to get back on my bike in order to cut down on my transport costs. Perhaps tomorrow will be the day in which I will make my full return to the art of cycling, for I am sick and tired of my wrist holding me back and if I am careful I can do all the cycling that I need to do whilst avoiding strain on my wrist.

I must admit that I’m surprised as to how well my wrist has held up during this period of intense handwriting. All things considered, it is doing well and not too pained. I seem to be bouncing back pretty well. Possibly. I don’t really know.

I do know that Ancient Egypt, Near East and Western Asia are pretty interesting areas of study. I wouldn’t pursue these areas full-time as that is not where my strongest interests lie, but I do know that I could certainly look into them out of interest and keep researching them throughout the rest of the time that I do have.

the sixth and last day of intense learning for this subject is today. The exam comes a few hours after the learning concludes. I sit here, typing before the first lecture of the day. Typing about some of life that is happening. It is rather banal and mundane, but it is life and one should not take the highlight reel. It doesn’t give a good picture of what people go through.

Well, I guess I should get to taking care of a few other things.

Or perhaps I should not. Who knows what the path will lead me toward?

Probably something ahead of me.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:53:62

Considering how grounded this is, I’m surprised as to how quickly I was able to write.

Could have been better, but otherwise I’m partially satisfied with the writing of this text.

Written at UNSW.

Luna Park Entrance as Seen from a Ferry

My wrist is still being fun so I’m probably not going to do much writing today.
Well, aside from writing about Egyptian History, there probably won’t be much writing.

With that aside, here’s a photo of the entrance to Luna Park as seen from a ferry.

This kind of feels like a busy photo to me. I think it’s due to the apartments.

Otherwise there’s a nice tonal balance and a lot of clarity on the Luna Park face.

I hope you enjoy.

Pacific National InterCity

I was lucky enough to get this shot once I was walking to Springwood Station when I went to do Faulcinbridge to Springwood and unintentionally cut my walk short.

I like the detail and the stillness of the photo. It doesn’t seem as though either train is moving.

I also like how the light on each surface is captured.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 366: The Third Time

This is my third attempt at writing something today, for there have been two times when things have gone wrong and now I don’t know as to what it is that I shall write for I had some silly ideas and they have floated away from me, so now I am here merely expressing my annoyance at the fact that this is the third time and I don’t know as to what it is that I’m now going to write, for the world has collapsed in and of itself and there is little else to do other than sip some really nice tea and watch the scene unfold (or collapse) as the chaos ensues.

It certainly would be most interesting, but not nearly as interesting as to what I was writing, which was a lot of silly gibberish that went nowhere other than left, and sometimes to the right, but then again who knows?

Who really know as to whether it would have been something that was interesting to read? It probably would not have been interesting, but it would have been far more interesting to read than this is currently.

I don’t know what I’m going on about anymore.

Still, there is at least something that can be salvaged.

Something about hills, or mountains rising and then I needed to climb them to see the view, but there would have been trees in the way, but the view still would have been nice as you would have seen something through the gaps of the trees as the birds were gnawed on the the branches of the trees… I think.

Then there was something about being surrounded by sand and how I was merely one person in the world and had no idea what to do as I was surrounded by a lot of sand.

Such is the way of things.

Maybe it would have been good, but there isn’t any way to now tell, for I have lost what I was writing and this is the third attempt at getting something written today.

My wrist is still sore, but it is getting better. Not as fast as I would like it to get, but it is still getting there.

I wonder as to how much more punishment it will take before it decides to bugger off and go elsewhere.

I wonder…

So I’m here, at work, taking a lot of calls and the calls are flooding in a fair bit, although there is a slight break at the moment which is good as sometimes you need a bit of breathing.

I feel like going for a bike ride but I do not know as to where I would go, let alone what I would ride, other than my bike of course.

Maybe I should stop worrying about things and get back on with the living of the life that is set out in front of me, but then again that would be a fickle purist. Or would it?

Maybe.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:02:57

So this was finished a few seconds before five minutes, but I stuffed up in the timer stopping and don’t want to try and guess the time.

Is this good? Probably not.

Still, it’s kind of coherent.

Written at work.

Rangerer

This was my favourite sculpture from Sculpture by the Sea last year, I think.

Not entirely sure.

This sculpture is from Xia Hang and I think that you really have to admire his ability to craft as well as his eye for detail.

I think that, in a way this sculpture is rather cold and menacing, but it is also beautiful.

I hope you enjoy.

Underworld: Evolution Review

What a film.

Well, it’s not well-made.

The further along it went, the more questions I had.

Why are the immortals called immortals if they can be killed?

If the “good” people know that they may be going up against an ancient werewolf, why do they only bring U.V. bullets and no bullets that are effective against werewolves?

If someone can survive imprisonment in a small space for hundreds of years without what appears to be any form of malnutrition of atrophy, are they effectively a closed system?

How is the main character not a better shot? After having hundreds of years of life at this point, you’d think she’d have worked out how to have near-perfect aim.

There are more questions that I have, but that means I have to think about the film more than I already have.

In some parts it’s enjoyable, but overall it’s poorly-directed, poorly-acted and, overall, poorly-made.

The action is okay. The music is as cheesy as it needs to be.

Overly dramatic in places.

There’s a lot of blue.

I will admit that I enjoyed parts of it, but overall it just wasn’t that fun or enjoyable.

Maybe see once. Maybe.
