Well, it probably wasn’t staring, but it looks like it is in this photo.
This was taken at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science.
I think that the colour came through quite well, as well as some of the detail around the head.
I hope you enjoy.

I wonder as to how this tree has survived for as long as it has.
I’m fairly certain that it would have been exposed to a lot of salt, and it doesn’t seem as though there would be a significant amount of nutrients that would help sustain its “Growth“, but I am not exactly a tree expert, so I don’t know.
In a rocky landscape, this tree serves to break both the colour and the shape of the area.
This is my submission into The Daily Post‘s photo challenge for this week.
I hope you enjoy.
Take whilst heading out to Avoid Island.
Not the best of photos that I’ve taken, but I do think the different shades and textures work well with each other.
This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness this week.
This one was themed and the theme was “Holidays”.
I guess in a sense this field trip was my holiday time as it felt the almost like having a holiday over the holiday period.
There was work, but it was a break from everything else.
If you enjoy monochrome photography, then I strongly recommend checking out Monochrome Madness. If you do photography, then I also recommend submitting.
I also recommend checking out Leanne Cole’s work outside of Monochrome Madness.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
Well, here’s a photo of what I think is an interesting geological formation.
It’s the same one as the one in this photo.
I like how the light is cast across it, changing the colour, as well as the texture and the shape.
I hope you enjoy.
Flashing through the sky and on approach to land as it is burning out, turning to ash, but very slowly as for some inexplicable reason, despite being on fire as it is passing through the atmosphere, it seems to be very resistant to the heat and the fire.
However, there is no hope as it falls at an incredible speed, but not directly down.
the final thoughts of its life are passing through its mind. Spoon it will be nothing. Thankfully it will be before it hits the ground, but still, it is a tragic event.
There was no coming back alive from what it had to do, but do what it had to do was done and at least it could be at peace now.
the world from above was very beautiful and awe-inspiring.
even though there were many who would not know what it had achieved, at least it would cause a streak in the sky, bringing people some sort of joy and relief one last time before it was removed from life.
Despite being removed from life, it would live on in legacy and legend, remembered for many a year to come, for those who manage to achieve great things do not die when they die.
Well, not always.
The flames wrapped around its body, flickering and licking at the skin and the suit, slowly charring and burning everything, turning it into something that it was not to be had this never happened.
It fell faster and faster at an angle. Never directly down, cutting through the sky and providing illumination in an already bright early morning.
Over cities,m over towns and over forests. Over the ocean and toward another continent, seeing the world from a different angle and marveling at how large the world was compared to itself.
Despite the pain of the gradual burning, this was a most beautiful and rewarding view. The pain did not matter, for the best seat in the house was reserved entirely for this one being rocketing down toward the earth, seeing the changes in landscape, colour and texture.
It had been a good life and it had been fruitful. There had been rewards far greater than material objects and even the conclusion was its own reward, despite the saddening finality of it all.
Had there been things left behind? Perhaps.
That no longer mattered, for the flames were doing what they needed to do and the air cut away at the body.
The earth drew closer with each passing moment and the being reflected on their life up until that moment.
They were glad that they were able to better the world, even if only slightly. It had been worth the journey. It had been worth the trouble.
Soon they would hit something, and so they closed their eyes and tried to find a way to dream.
It was a calm moment for them, for they knew that they could at least pass in peace.
The world was beautiful.

Vague, yet interesting.
Possibly.

The turtle Island that I was on for the learning of research.
This photo gives a really good view of the island at low tide.
A very shallow area.
It’s a fairly small island, but at the same time it feels large.
I hope you enjoy.
Well, I’m back at uni although I never really left.
Today is the day that I start the learning of Egyptian history.
I think that sit may be interesting. I don’t really know right now. What I do know is that it is a course that will involve a lot of writing and in thew writing down of things there will be learning and there will be interpretation.
How do I know this?
I don’t know.
I don’t feel as though I’ve had much of a break, but that is probably due to my keeping myself busy.
That is what I’d like to believe, so that is what I will tell my self.
It helps make the accepting of whatever it is that I’m trying to accept easier to accept instead of harder to accept.
What am I going on about?
Anyway, so I’m sitting here, trying to kill some time before I grab a bite to eat and head off to the first lecture of the first day of this course held over summer.
Well, six days of summer.
It seems like it will be very intense, but right now I do not know if that will be the case.
It is six full days, then an exam worth half the course followed by a reflective essay that is worth the other half.
In other words, I need to make sure that I do really well, for there is a chance that I will not, for I am a lazy student a good chunk of the time who ends up focusing on thew things that I should not focus on and then miss the things that would be easier for me to study.
That is what sounds good, anyway.
So I’m sitting here, trying to think of things to write when what I really should be doing is making my way down to the lecture theatre and getting food, relaxing before I go in and begin the process of learning the things about Egypt and its history.
I do wonder as to what I will learn.
From what I’ve gleaned over, one of the readings is The Epic of Gilgamesh, which may have to do with the course also covering a bit of the Mediterranean (I think). Considering that that particular epic is something that I’ve enjoyed reading and will happily read again. I’m looking forward to it being part of the course.
Of course I am looking forward to it being part of the course.
Of course I am now just wasting both your and my time, so maybe I should find a witty way to end this before I run off to wherever it is that I need to be.
Oh, that’s right. It is the main lecture theatre. I think.
Or do I think?
No, we’re not going down that path today.
Well, here we go into something new and exciting with all the calm that would be required for someone who is feeling fairly calm.

I think that I managed to somehow make the sun look more massive than it usually appears.
This is a bit of a moody photo.
I like that the sun is situated in one part of the shot and I also like that there’s not too much in the rest of the space.
I hope you enjoy.
So there was this guy who was walking along, minding his own business when all of sudden a cat in a jumpsuit jumped out of nowhere, bit the hand of the guy and then motioned for the guy to follow.
As one step was taken by the guy, who could not abate his curiosity, another shortly followed.
As the cat moved, so did the guy. Despite his feet ever-so-slowly melting with each step and gradually becoming one with the footpath, he continued to push on forward as he wanted to see the mysteries of what the cat held and the revelations that it could offer.
Eventually his pace began to slow and he lost sight of the cat. Faster now the guy sunk into the footpath.
“Oh bother” the guy muttered, for there was little he could do about his predicament and the end of him was night.
Unfortunately the end was not nigh. There was more to come and the guy knew not of the fact that this was the case, and indeed verily so.
So of course he was not actually melting but phasing into another world, where he fell from the sky and hurtled toward the ground. Or perhaps it was the ground and he was hurtling toward the sky.
The guy tumbled as he fell, or rose and accelerated toward his destination as it grew larger, or smaller the closer he came.
The guy passed through the object and found himself safely landing as his flayed skin reattached itself one cell at a time.
The distance from where he was before to where he was now was great and the gy knew not where to go from hear.
There was a little confusion and fright, but there had to be action and the guy knew not what the best action was, so he walked up to the closest flamingo that he could see and socked it in the face.
Of course the flamingo was not quite happy with this, and so it was on.
There was a a fight. There was VIOLENCE of an extraordinary nature and the fighting was intense in ways that one could not normally envision.
No one was the victor and the peoples of the land cried out in mourning for the loss of their innocence, for now nothing would ever be the same again.
The sun rendered the scene hard, drawing shadows long and casting colour across the sky like a blanket smothering a bed.
The drama was magnificent and the waterfalls yawned the gaping maw that they had always possessed.
Eventually the fighting stopped and the guy, dusting himself off, walked away to try and work out where he was next meant to go.
The cat appeared.
“Well, aren’t you going to keep up?”
Shocked, but unsurprised the guy began to follow the cat once more.
Once more to somewhere where he knew not what the outcome of the journey would be, but in knowing that there may be answers.

I like the absurdity of the above text.
Could have been better, but I do think it is not bad.
Written at home.
So today I’ve been sitting here for a good while writing as there are things that I need to write about.
I’m meant to be seeing my partner and be hanging with her family, but I’ve had to cancel. She’s okay with it as I’ll be seeing her tomorrow.
I don’t need to write about the year that is about to end, but there’s a few traditions that I do like to uphold.
I’ve done a lot of thinking and reflecting this year. There’s been a lot of trying to take stock of where I am in life and whether I’ve accomplished anything meaningful.
It’s a silly thing to think. I imagine that in ten years’ time I’ll be ruminating about the same issue.
I’ve been trying to work out as to where I’ve come from and where I’m going. I’ve been trying to work out as to whether I need to be doing more or less.
At the very end of last year I released an album and in November of this year I wrote a manuscript. These are both accomplishments but, whilst they are important to me I don’t feel as though they are meaningful.
It’s a silly thing to think.
I think that I have a desire to do more and more as I get older. I find that I like to be busy. Rather make the most of my time.
It’s probably why I’ve continued with photography and remained in university. It’s probably part of the reason as to why I still write and put so much of it out into the Internet. It’s probably part of the reason as to why I still work on music.
I’d say that, aside from university which is more of a war of attrition that I don’t want to back down from as I know that at the end I’ll get something more than just a lot of frustration from it, it’s more likely that I do these things due to my enjoyment of them (music is more than just enjoyment but that’s a rabbit hole that no-one needs to go down) and the being busy is just a pleasant side-effect.
2017 has felt like a very long year to me. I know that it’s probably due to having done a lot more than usual and in that regard I think I am satisfied.
I managed to not fail any of my university subjects and worked on more music. As said before, I wrote a manuscript.
I took a lot of photos, kept working, went camping with a friend, did a fair bit of swimming and got to participate in turtle research.
I’d say that that is all stuff of which I can be satisfied.
I don’t know what else to say. Ultimately how I feel may pass. Maybe it will not. Either way, I still feel restless and do not want to sit comfortably with what I have achieved.
I imagine that 2018 will also be a busy year so long as I keep myself going forward.
2018? Bring it on.
