Hillside View

This is a place near Otford. I’ve been down to where these particular cabins are a few times. It’s a pleasant place.

I think this photo has a good sense of scale and space. I do like how the scene gives a good idea of the view from the cabins: a vast ocean with a few cargo ships making themselves apparent.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-third Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Surprise“.

I think that seeing the cabins might be surprising the first time you see them as when you see the landscape they appear to be built in an area not quite hospitable for their location. There also appears to be no way down.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is hosted by Leya. Next week’s host is Amy.

Come on in and join the challenges. They’re fun to interpret and there’s a nice community developing around them.

I hope you enjoy.

Looks like a very peaceful spot SH. Not only surprising that you can get to them, imagine how difficult it was to build them in the first place!

    • Potentially. There’s a long history behind the shacks in The Royal National Park, so if these are part of that history it’s quite possible that they were more easily built than appearances suggest.

    Surprising indeed!

Nice shot. Remoteness, watching ‘civilization’ march by.
