This was written over two listens.
“Theme” is a short song but it has a lot happening. I tried to capture it through imagery which kind of worked at first. Had I not switched modes then it probably would’ve worked the whole way through.
Flying Lotus’ “Theme” is from You’re Dead!.
I hope you enjoy.

A heavy drone stretches out, unfolding a landscape. Scenes rush on by, almost seeming overwhelming as all blurs into each other. Sounds rumble underneath and bits of percussion shimmer on through and the dawn rises as the sun sets and all cycles around each other, becoming indistinct. And yet, it seems meditative and perhaps is actually a moment of calm among intensity.
Suddenly a different kind of rush comes forward. A blast of percussion and other sounds. A slight pause, a stirring, another blast. A repeat. A fade away, then a fade back in. Brass, percussion and other sounds congeal together, seemingly as a mess, yet all knowing what they are doing. However, before another unleash, during one last pause the song ends.
