Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1053: Stalling

Alright. It is time. I have some time so I need to make the most of it. Once more I’m going to do that thing where I try to get a lot done in a little amount 0f time, but I don’t know if I will make it, but that’s part of the fun of all of this.

I’ve been in a bit of a funk and I need to get out of it as there are things that need to be taken care of and so I need to work on pulling myself out of said funk. I need to grab onto something and slowly get out of what it is that I’m in so that I can do better and get better at the things that I want to do, but I need to do my best so as to be able to do the thing and all of that other stuff and so I think I’ve made the point that I’m trying to make.

Not sure as to where to go from here, but that is part of the challenge. That is part of what I need to rise up to and defeat if I am to stake my claim upon that which I am trying to stake a claim upon, assuming that I am indeed trying to stake a claim upon anything at all, as really I’m not; I’m just trying to find a way to buy time so that I have time to buy time.

Anyway, with all of that being said, this is the next bit and I am already struggling. I am trying to find the words and put them in an order that can be described as succinct, but I think that I just need to rest and take it easy for the rest of the evening as already this has been a long going and I’m feeling sweaty and therefore I need to take it easy so that I can take is easy. I need to stall and buy some time so that I can find out how to best rest and relax and in doing that then I can go to whatever is next and find that. I can find that and open it and see where that leads me and then I will walk through some more doors and in walking through those doors I will then something something and so on and so forth and you get the idea.

I look out the window and it is getting dark, but that is mostly due to the sky being obscured by clouds and that is something else that I need to deal with at some stage, but the best way to deal with that is by going about my business and working out how all of this fits together. However, none of it does and so I find myself struggling once more, but part of the challenge is overcoming the struggle and so I’m sure that I will eventually.

I was stalling quite a bit with this one. Bit of a mess and highly aimless.

A Poem About Boredom

I tried making this one longer but it didn’t work.
To be fair, I don’t think it works at this length either, but it works better than what I had written out.

I hope you enjoy.

Sitting here, waiting
For something to happen
Staring into space
Hoping for any occurrence

Intertidal Habitat

Here’s a small patch of habitat as seen in the intertidal zone of area in Sydney.

There’s not much to say about this. There’s quite a few invertebrates visible and I like how they frame the water part of this photo. I also like how you can see algae in there. It helps to form protection for the organisms in this spot whilst also adding a bit of extra visual stuff.

I hope you enjoy.

Path Among the Trees

A photo of a path among trees whilst showing towering obstructions that are close by.
Not sure if not having the buildings there would make much of a difference to this photo as, even if they weren’t there, the idea of manufactured nature would remain apparent, I think.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Metroid Metal: Prime 3 Theme / Bryyo

This was written over one listen, though there was a pause and one part where I had to rewind as I wasn’t sure if there was sound for one section.

I’m not sure what I was trying to do with this one. Maybe just capture a sense of flow. Maybe. What I do know is that what I wrote is really rough which like has to do with how little I’ve been writing this month.

Metroid Metal’s “Prime 3 Theme/Bryyo” is from Expansion Pack.

I hope you enjoy.

A quick crunch and the guitar starts riding the percussion and helping to form a mean groove. The rhythm rides on out, guitar releases a little and some of the song’s sounds become more apparent.

A dramatic moment comes in and allows the bass to come in and help establish a more firm foundation. Staccato comes foreword for rhythm and some guitar still rides what is happening, though with more of a sense of mood and drama. The instruments then descend, rise and descend, finding their steps with confidence and getting across a sense of some sort of menace before once more returning to the main rhythm, though with a bit more of a sway and swagger.

All mostly drops out in a way, sort of playing out before all goes quiet. Bass and percussion search through a darkened atmosphere whilst the guitars play out, not quite at a loss, but feeling almost uncertain. Looking, trying to return back to where they need to be. There’s not quite a sense of urgency, but almost a despair before the two parts once more find themselves and unite more firmly than before.

The instruments rise up and let loose, playing with fury and vigour and pummel their way forward, charging before finding one more pause. Then once more the main melody returns and once more the instruments ride on, locking into a groove and riding the rhythm before reaching a sudden halt.

Quietly a sound moves forward before all come back and make their final push without relent. Once more the descent returns for a climactic finish and, after one last thrust of energy, the instruments stop, leaving guitar to fade out at the song’s end.

Curve Faces the Frame

This was taken a few weeks ago whilst wandering about Sydney Olympic Park.
I like the sense of distance in this photo, as well as the sense of oddness caused by the shape of the corridor.

I also like the quiet that comes from a sense of stillness. Also also that the photo didn’t come out overly bright as it was a pretty bright time when I took this.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-seventy-ninth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Serene“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is curated by Patti. The next one is curated by Leya and will occur early in the new year. It’ll also have the theme of “Favorite Photos of 2021”.

I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1052: Time for a Customer Rant

Doing the thing where I sit here and think about things. I’m thinking about many things and once more I am thinking about customer service and how people treat customer service representatives.

Some customers this year have been good, whilst plenty have not been good. Such is the way of things. I imagine more have been good than not good, but sometimes it does not feel that way.

We’re into the holiday season during a time of increased stress for many due to the various pressures out there. It’s a tough time and certain things make it much tougher. It has been a long year and time seems to keep on extending well beyond any sort of reasonable amount. It keeps on extending and unfurling, and even though we are near the end of it, it just doesn’t seem like it will end and it probably won’t as dates signify a lot of things, but they certainly do not signify a great reset to a lot of issues out there. However, I digress.

Once more I am talking about this issue which will likely never end. Once more I am saying that it is better to not treat customer service representatives like crap. We are people too and all you’re doing by yelling and screaming at us about things that are not within our control is putting a lot of crap out there. You’re hurting people by refusing to treat them with respect. You’re giving them stuff that they may carry on with them. You’re kicking and screaming as you don’t understand that the world doesn’t revolve around you and your desire for instant convenience and you’re directing your shitty, fucked up tantrum at someone who will do what they can for you if you actually, you know, be respectful.

I really hate this time of year. It’s where the gloves really come off and people who are trying to do their job have to spend time trying not to freak out because some asshole decided it was a good idea to, instead of showing a bit of self-control, unleash on them because some order is going to be delayed because, guess what, delivery services are currently overwhelmed.

Yeah, there is a lot of stuff going on but that doesn’t change the fact that you should never take your shit out on someone who is trying to do help you out. If you’re shitty to customer service staff and good to the people around you, you’re still an asshole. Having a bad day? Come back and apologise. You should try to have the dignity and the respect to admit you behaved in a shitty way and potentially ruined someone else’s day because you can’t handle issues coming into your life.

I don’t give a shit as to how important you think you are and I don’t give a shit as to how frustrated you are. If you treat customer service staff poorly, then fuck your holiday season and fuck you.

Perhaps this is a little too much. Not sure. Got the point across at least, I think.

A Poem About Small Moments

At least, that is what I think this is about.
This was written in about two minutes. Maybe less.

I think the next one I might spend more time on. I don’t necessarily think the result will be better, but I feel I should try and see what happens.

I hope you enjoy.

Contained within a compressed moment
Sit many paths and memories
Pushed together without room for straining away
They have no choice but to intermingle

Through intermingling their paths separate
With some moving away from others
Where they intersected reveal small snapshots
That eventually fade out of view

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1051: The Thing Works

The thing works so I’m going ahead with the doing of the writing. Soon the light shall fade so I need to work fast and get all that I can down on this bit of screen. Of course I could switch on the light, but where would the fun in that be? There’s less pressure to get this done if I do that and right now I probably need the pressure, so therefore I ride the pressure and I let it carry me toward some sort of success in getting this thing written.

At least, that is what I tell myself.

Shadows draw long and I set here as I bang all of this out and I hope that it gets a little cooler as it is quite warm in here and it being quite warm in here is not something I desire to experience, so therefore I need to work quickly so as to be able to get all of this out of the way. I need to work quickly so I can still see the keyboard and I need to work quickly so I can go somewhere cooler.

Why have I put myself in this situation? Why have I done this to myself? The solution is so straightforward and yet I refuse to embrace it and instead stubbornly march onward into something that I don’t need to do. I express myself with leaden steps and I sluggishly move forward, gradually slowing down through error and other things leading to more error. However, the sunset approaches and it is lovely in a way. It is expressive and in its expressiveness it expresses something that I consider expressive, so therefore that is something that is nice and having that nice thing makes some of this a bit better. Still, I keep on writing and I keep turning my head, but move it back to the screen and the keyboard as I need to be able to see what it is that I am doing. As such, the sunset seems more like a quick still; I get a flicker of it and then I keep on going with whatever this is.

I think that that may be enough for one day but I need to keep on going as there still remains many words that need to be written and of course I am only one person, but I am writing them out and in writing them I am continuing on with the act of expression and I am expressing in an inefficient and perhaps unwieldy manner, but I persist as that is what I do and so therefore I will keep on going forward to wherever all of this leads me, and there is a nice sunset that I will soon check out as it is outside and I want to see it so maybe I’ll go outside and have a quick look, then go back inside and do something else.

Then again, maybe I’ll just keep on going instead.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:21:51

This felt slower than it was and I think it was due to trying to grasp onto whatever I could.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1050: Dry Day

Mowers mow and it all happens outside of unison. It is a regular appearance of an old friend that you don’t like, but it is something that you put up with as it exists and it needs to be done on the odd occasion.

The sun blares out brightness and in that brightness there is a warmth and that warmth travels and spreads and covers all as though it is a blanket that cannot be escaped. It can be tolerated and lifted a little, but it cannot be escaped. So we sit here and we perspire and we sweat a little but we also appreciate the weather outside the window for we are not directly in the grip of the weather; we are experiencing some of it. However, we also are in the grip of the weather. We cannot escape it, but merely pretend that it doesn’t exist until it no longer allows such a thing to happen.

At the end of the day, who am I to complain? Who am I to try and complain and stamp my foot at something I can only experience and try to do something about? I still have to experience it just like anyone else. I just have to try and do my best to make sure that weather doesn’t get too severe. I also get to hide in my place of residence and continually hope for the best. You do what you can and you spend a bit of time hoping and trying to provide information where possible.

It’s a long day and a dry day and there is sweat. There is enough sweat for all people and so I keep on sweating as I bang this out and I do my best to not think about what it is that I am doing as I don’t want to think too much about what it is that I am doing, if that makes sense. Well, maybe I do, but right now I don’t and so I will keep on typing. Thinking requires energy and energy is in low supply in this kind of weather. All I can do is keep on going forward and hope for the best, but of course then I need to think about that too and so the conundrum continues. It continues on and I keep on going and in my keeping on going I will get to somewhere, and maybe I will be able to resist this heat through the power of powering onward. Maybe. There is no telling really. Maybe I won’t and that is something that I need to consider.

I mean, I will keep on going but of course I like to be dramatic and so I am going to be dramatic here as that makes things more dramatic and in that dramatic drama I do the things and get this across and eventually that will be all. There will be nothing else; just drama.

Well, drama and heat, but you get the idea.

I think this started off okay. I think there may have been something to what I was writing.
Then I went elsewhere for some reason.
