One Thousand Word Challenge 136: Might be a While

And so the morning has come and it is already here. I sit and am seated and I prepare for the worst, but I don’t know if that is entirely true. I do know, however, that soon the use of the bathroom is required for there is a requirement for me to use the bathroom and soon that might overwhelm my every thought. Such is the way of needing to sue the bathroom, which is something that I need to do in order to keep on going, or something.

Today lays itself out in a patchwork map of both far too much detail and also not enough. It is a confusing, convoluted mess and I will find a way to navigate it.

Of course that also is not true, but I am going to pretend that it is as it makes things sound so much more dramatic than they actually are, and I’m here for the making things sound more dramatic than they actually are aspect of the thing that I am currently doing, which is writing about things that are as small as they are big. Or something.

So anyway, it is a pleasant and perhaps even pleasing day. It might even be a perfect day in the sense that it was here and then it will be behind me later. Of course there are other things out there that may challenge this notion, but I will not lend them any weight or credence. I don’t want to and I also don’t feel like wanting to. There are other things that I need to take care of on this particular day of days and that is navigating the day ahead, which I want to have appear convoluted, but also not have it be convoluted so that everything works out in the precise way that I want it to, even though I have absolutely no idea as to how I want the day to pan out.

Maybe there should be horses gallivanting about in the near vicinity, and some sort of melding sky so as to produce the sheen that is so craved by all who come near it and experience it, but never see, feel or hear it. Perhaps the ocean should sing songs about how it is and is not and whilst this all goes on a fantastic scene of dull fantasy plays out in the surrounds of this humble abode, and all is happy and joyous and there is no turning things around until they themselves choose to turn around.

Of course this might involve some sort of musical number and I’m not sure if that can be tolerated. However, all things considered, there might just be a necessity invoked in order to be able to continue on with the festivities. The fish will fly and the birds will sing and there will be colours not yet experienced and perhaps never experienced again. The grey of the scene will be washed away by the tides and all will be held accountable for engaging in their ability to celebrate. A gentle breeze will kiss the sky and all those around and, as the hair grows outward, there will be necessities experienced in only the finest of suits. The land will be free and all will celebrate in only the way that they can.

Eventually all will require sleep but an unraveling has occurred and so much feasting will be required, but all will push to rest, for feasting can come in the morning and it is less important than eating well in a way that implies eating well. Of course there will also be plenty of not eating well, but that is neither here nor there.

Well, I guess feasting can also be eating well, or done well, but that is not something I’m going to get into at the present moment as the only way forward is following the stretch and the swathe of throwing things together in the hopes that some of it makes a modicum of sense.

So anyway, eventually the unraveling will become far too grand, but all will celebrate and dance and the clouds will prolong a wistfulness as the grass sways in the breeze, and those who look upon it all will wonder as to what the point of it all was, but there will be action and in that action nodding toward the shining earth underneath the blotted sun may just lead to things that were once known as unknown and now remain firmly in the known.

All will become bright and glowing as the great melding will occur, but as it happens all that was and all that is will no longer be distinct, and all things will become as in the moment as they were against it, slowly twisting and distorting and becoming amorphous, but also seemingly not existing at all. It will be a most grand spectacle, but all will come and dance and the tides will lap at the shores and birds will do their thing, as will fish, and the animals of the land will find what they need to find in order to keep on going to whatever it is that they too are going toward.

Slowly, yet surely it will all be one and there will be no return, and there will be some sort of rest and that rest will feel earned, though perhaps not in the most traditional of ways, but sometimes that’s just how things happen and you’ve got to expect that these things happen in ways not always expected, but at least the rest will be good. It will be a deep, heavy sleep and there will be some sort of restfulness within that restfulness. It will be one greatly required and no one will pretend otherwise. It will be the rest of rests and it will beckon a new day as the sun rises.

However, until all of that, today must be gotten through.
It might be a while.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 11:49:83

Written this morning. Not sure why I didn’t share it earlier in the day.

I think that I wasn’t quite content with what was coming forward so I veered away from what I was writing and that led to whatever this is.

Written at home.

A Poem About Focusing on a Goal

This was knocked out pretty quickly.
I just wanted to get something out and so went with the first thing that came to mind, which was this.

Maybe I’ll rework this at some point as this is really rough. I think there’s potential but it does need a lot of work.

I hope you enjoy.

Focusing on the target
Sights set on the goal ahead
Many distractions stand out
And play with pervasiveness

To honour them leads to disarray
And to do so is easy
Though they can be ignored
And left behind

Despite the distractions
The goal lies ahead
Along a path
That stretches ahead

To hold the focus
And push on forward
Will see movement
Toward where it lies

Desert Squid: Nanjing West Road

This was written over one listen and it was a bit easier to do so with this song as it’s a slower one, in a sense. Less business at least.

Not sure what I was going for here. Maybe a balance; no idea.

Desert Squid’s (沙漠鱿鱼) “Nanjing West Road” (“南京西路”) is from 上海/香港.

I hope you enjoy.

Something that may be a step, and the sound of traffic whilst slow, ambient sounds begin their approach. It is night.

Something fades into existence, hard, though also soft, then fades out. The sounds of traffic, of people comes back and then the sound returns. Almost as though a rotation between the specific and the vague, though calm.

Slowly the more ambient of sounds become more apparent and conjure up a dreamlike atmosphere, seemingly caressing and inviting into a lull of sorts. The urban state remains, but it seems to become less real and more fantasy. More mysterious and distant. Perhaps it is a suggestion, or an echo of what was.

The area remains busy, but there is a sense of being removed from it; from being disconnected from the space and moving through it, watching as an external spectator whilst being present, though eventually the dreamlike state ends. One last hard sound and the business of the street returns, just as the song ends.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1002: Shaking Things, Though Not

Sounds. A vibration. Other things. And so on and so forth.

Perched upon my seat in a way that does not imply accurate way of sitting on this particular seat. It is the way that I am doing things this morning.

It is time for shaking things in the upward direction rather than the downward direction.

There is going to be transitions and shifts and everything will becoming shiny and new, or at least the appearance. Old way is not sleek enough. Need to make things more marketable and need to make things be really smooth, or something. There needs to be things in place is what I’m saying, essentially.

New styles and new fashions so as to be able to set a trend and then have things leap forward in a way that makes sense. Hopefully, of course. There are many things of which need to be looked upon and examined and then perhaps also scrutinised. There needs to be so much scrutiny that things come out on top in the most refined manner they possible can so as to be able get a better view of the whole thing and then go from there.

Then there needs to be thinking about how this whole thing proceeds forward, but of course thinking about that is often a difficult think as that means thinking about things and the thinking is not what I want to do at the moment.

I think I haven’t thought enough about this and therefore all plans must now be scrapped if there is any hope of proceeding forward in a direction that implies moving forward. All things must be torn down and everything must go. If it looked nice, it wasn’t nice and if it wasn’t nice it probably wasn’t worth having for such a project with no ambition and pure declaration. Such is the way of things that are now the things that are now gone, and such is the way that I need to proceed forward in order to go backward.

There will be no sleekness. There will be no excellence. All will be dismantled and it will look rough and awkward and the hope is that it will remain as such. Dullness will reign supreme and all will be forced back into the tedium. No time to be cool and there is only time to be boring, so therefore there will only be the art of being boring and there will be nothing else to go by.

Now, I believe it is time to look at other things and see what they cover and how they cover what it is that they cover. There is no telling as to what will happen, but it all needs to be boring and dull and colourless, and I’m all for it at the present moment for there is only procrastination left, and that is a difficult job, but of course I am more than qualified and therefore will go ahead with some kind of tedium.

More writing that felt slow and clumsy. Still, it was done and it was done well enough I suppose.

Kitarō: Space II

One listen for this one.

I was going to look at describing the sounds and instrumentation, but instead I went for trying to capture the feel.

I probably could’ve written more and maybe been a bit more descriptive, but alas.
Oh well.

Kitarō’s “Space II” is from Thinking Of You.

I hope you enjoy.

A low drone, upon which a bell and rising appear. Sounds of the waking dawn in the vastness of space call out, heralding the beginning of a cosmic odyssey.

Suddenly a greater driving percussion comes in and the music takes on a far more serious and perhaps sombre tone. The rhythm pulses as synths explore throughout the vastness. There seems to be an implied speediness, and yet the pace flows steady and carefully almost.

A shift into something else and the music takes on a darker tone. Almost sweeping into some sort of menace and uncertainty, though of course the journey breaks through it and continues on its looking into mysteries and exciting dangers, though of course with a sense of pressure keeping the drive.

Synths continue to call out and once more that menace and uncertainty returns, almost as though the precipice of failure is about to be crossed, and perhaps close it is drawn to, but once more it is avoided and once more the push goes on toward whatever lies ahead beyond what is visible. Through space and through the galaxy the urgency persists, though soon it fades away as waves come in, lapping at the sound as the song ends.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1001: Squeeze This in

Trying to squeeze this in as there’s little time before my break ends, but maybe I can do this. Maybe I can get this written at a speed that is as acceptable as it is unacceptable. It is possible, but I don’t want to bank on it, or something. Anyway, let us see where the dancing of the fingers over the keyboard takes us.

So anyway, I was sitting here and looking over there and I was experiencing a discrepancy of sorts that led to more discrepancies. You could say that there was a chain of discrepancies, and in saying that you would be saying something about discrepancies and how they chain together. However, maybe on this particular day of these things happening there was none of that whatsoever. Perhaps everything was awry, but in ways that made it suspected, but not necessarily noticeable.

However, none of that matters right now as instead there are skies to surf and planes of reality to explore in a way that implies more than it declares, but none of that matters right now either. What really matters is finding the right pace of which one needs to move at in order to move forward at a pace that many may consider as acceptable, but none would consider as inappropriate. It’s all a difficult balancing that must be carefully found, for there needs to be much consideration into how the act of the doing of the things proceeds so as to be able to make sure the right balance is struck. If that is not done, then terrible things could happen.

That is not to say that terrible things would happen, mind you; just saying that they could happen. Massive difference right there and in knowing that difference, the balances between balance and imbalance might be struck and all can then proceed as it normally would whilst the sunset rides off into the sunset.

Maybe I should go on about other things, but I’m just looking for a groove in which I can get going and find the things that allow the groove to really groove so as to be able to express all that I want to express in a way that implies groove, or something.

Look, I don’t know where I’m going with this and so I need to start planning my exit. There is so little that I want to say and so little that I want to do, but I have all the time in the world to do it now, but I don’t, but it all goes on and circles itself as it disappears from the mirror showing the view of the rear which is the space behind me, but now that I know where things are and are not I can at least look at some other things and slowly work my way around the track and try and find out where it all began, though I know where and so this mass of words will reveal nothing.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:25:91

Written earlier today.
I felt slow and clumsy whilst I was writing this and I’m not sure as to why.
Probably the tyranny of fatigue, or something.

Brick Pit Ducks

Here are some ducks as seen in The Brick Pit at Sydney Olympic Park.
There’s also some rubbish floating among the growth on the water.

I like how the space makes the ducks feel small, and I also like how you can see the marks made by whichever birds have been moving through this bit of growth. It sort of gives the image a bit of a bleak feel, or at the very least an isolated one.

I hope you enjoy.

“Turtle”

This was done a couple of weeks ago whilst streaming.

I was trying to do clouds in a particular way but I kept getting the perspective wrong.
I then decided to try and quickly sketch a turtle which led to the below result.

Unfortunately due to technical issues I wasn’t able to finish the colouring and so I left the image as it is.

I hope you enjoy.

Some Birds Flying

Here is a photo of some birds flying.
I feel as though their being in silhouette (as well as how I’ve framed them) gives the suggestion of a more stylish image, but the fog makes things feel less so.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 135: A Mess Under Nine Minutes

And so now The Internet is working here again so what I’m going to do is race myself and see once more how fast I can get this done, which is what I always do, but I’m going to aim for under that time limit of the minutes of eight (or was it nine?) and we’ll see what happens.

Of course I do not know as to what will happen other than I will get this finished, but of course that is something that of course is something that we all know will happen, though you won’t if I don’t finish this as if I don’t finish this I will scrap the whole thing and then that will be that, and therefore there will be no seeing this. However, I will know that I wrote it, though I will inevitably forget that I wrote it and then it will no longer exist as something other than a vague memory that will crop up at some point in the future.

It will be a small blip in a lengthy life where many things don’t happen (and some thing do), but that is the way that these things go sometimes and that is not something I plan to try and control too much as there are other things that I need to consider at the moment, such as getting this done in the manner of timeliness that I am trying to get this done in, so therefore there will be some doing of this, and maybe, just maybe, there will be very little doing of anything else other than this. We’ll just have to see how it all pans out, though if it even does pan out to anything at all, I will be most pleased. Or something.

So I’m up to this point and already I am stressing a little. Well, maybe that is not the most accurate thing to say. I’m not really feeling the stress, bunt I certainly am feeling a bit of pain in my right wrist, but maybe I can push through. Maybe I can stubbornly persevere. I’m not sure just as to if I can yet, but we’ll see. Maybe I will get there and maybe I will get through the whole thing. Maybe I won’t. Still plenty of uncertainty to go, but soon that will be a hurdle not so much leapt over so much as broken through.

Maybe I won’t get under the minutes of eight, but I do know that I will at least get under the minutes of sixty. Then again, maybe I will slow right on down and then I won’t be able to keep pace and suddenly this will take far, far longer than I had anticipated. There are so many possibilities to consider and this is but one of them, but of course so long as I keep on going and overcome what minor adversity I run into, I’m sure that I will be able to get to the end of this and then… something.

So anyway, now I’m up to this point and the struggle has become quite apparent. This is something that I hoped would sink in later, for there still is quite a way to go, but of course there is no telling when struggle will happen, so you do your best and you keep on pushing on in the hopes that you get to the end sooner rather than later. We’ll, you hope that you get to the end as you’ve come this far and you don’t want to scrap the whole thing, but maybe you do. Maybe you just want to throw it all away and call it a day and go back to bed. You can’t, but you might just have to do so for various reasons. Still, you keep on going. Now, by “you”, I mean “I”, referring to me. I’m not going to go back and edit that as I’ve come too far and I don’t want to as I’m lazy and that would take up more time and time is what I’m trying to get ahead of at the moment.

You can’t get ahead of time, however. You can move within time and move alongside it, but you can’t move past it, for it is always steady and it never tires; it just keeps on going. However, I tired, but right now I am yet to tire and therefore I might just be able to do this and get to the end of it and then find the whole thing finished within a timely manner. Of course I hope that is what happens, but I don’t know fi that is indeed what will happen.

I need to move much, much faster at the moment, but I don’t know if I can. Had I started with a more full keyboard, then maybe. Maybe I would be able to move faster. However, I am not and so therefore I am making quite a few mistakes, but I keep on pushing on.

Of course, you won’t see those mistakes, but right now I know they exist and they will haunt me for the rest of my time bothering to do this, for I know I will have to clean them up later and that is never something that I consider as being fun in any way, shape or form. Oh well. Such is the way of things.

Just realised that it is under nine minutes and now I have a second wind of sorts. This is a good thing and it means that I  can get to the end. I’m not out  for the count just yet. I will get there so long as I remain furious and righteous all toward the end of this. I can get there and I can beat the clock. Maybe I cannot defeat time, but today time will not defeat me, or something.

Maybe we’ll reach a draw and then I’ll go and rest a little while.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 08:57:46

Quite content with the speed, though of course it helped to create this mess of words.
Maybe next time I’ll aim for under eight minutes.
