A Poem About an Object on a Journey

I had an idea about writing about an object falling off something and hitting the ground a few days ago but I didn’t get around to doing anything until now.

I’m not sure if this gets enough of that idea across, but I like the imagery.

I hope you enjoy.

Almost steadily placed
Or that is how it would seem
Soon on a journey
It shall embark

Idle chatter
Belies a mistake
And soon to the air
It moves within

Toward a surface
It must approach
Through no choice it made
It’s conclusion seems set

Much faster than expected
It meets the surface
And through contact
It breaks itself

Sails and an Arch

The photo I took earlier this year that is similar to this one.

I like this image for mostly the same reasons as the prior-shared one, but I also like this one due to there being a little less of everything.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 836: General Gist

Humid morning and all of that other stuff. The only way is forward and forward is how I am going, but of course I really am stationary rather than moving and that’s kind of fine. That’s okay. There has already been walking this morning and there sure will be other activities of various varying performed throughout the day that will inevitably imply some sort of movement toward other things and so on and so forth.

However, maybe I’ll just, instead of moving about, sit down for the whole day. Maybe I will have the chair move for me so that I don’t have to worry about moving about too much. Try and be a little more sedentary than usual. That would be an interesting challenge, though of course I am already not doing a great job as I cannot help but move my hands in order to create this in order to communicate something to you all. I’ve already lost, so I guess that instead of not doing anything, I should do stuff as that would mean stuff is getting done, and all of that other stuff.

So anyway, I think that now that I have gotten the general gist of everything across, I should look to tie it all together, even though I’ve not really done anything except for write a bunch of words and string them together in a way that makes them read as sentences that may or may not have some sort of meaning behind them. That’s the thing that I do and it seems as though I have done a better job than usual at this point, unless you take into consideration the stuff I usually write, in which case I have done neither better nor worse than usual. That’s… well, that’s a thing I guess.

I don’t really know as to where I can go from here. I think I’m feeling a bit taxed on what I can and cannot write. Maybe I’m just digging that hole again. I should stop digging holes and start planting trees, I think. That may be better for everything overall, so long as those trees get left alone as much as possible so that they are able to develop and then create small ecosystems within large ecosystems and all of that other stuff that I like about nature and the idea of nature.

Anyway, perhaps there will be some tree planting and then some tree growing. That would be a lovely thing to do at the present moment, I think. It would create something nice to appreciate and all that other stuff and so on and so forth and you get the idea.

However, the job of which I need to work to earn money unfortunately comes first at the present moment and so I need to do that before I can do anything else. However, there certainly will be the doing of other things once this day of work has released me from its firmly tyrannical grasp.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:34:09

A bit of drama at the end on what is a rather standard writing.

Another one I wrote before work and only was able to share after.

Written at home.

To Carry The Sunset

I think the clouds caught the sunset’s light really well in this photo.

I feel as though this photo makes the clouds appear as almost though they are the only thing affected by the sunset and thus are spreading it across the sky. It makes for a relaxing scene, I think.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 835: Begin Considering

A long ache is stretching out over my body. I am tired, sore, grouchy and looking to complain, so that is what I am going to do. I’m going to whinge and I’m going to complain.

Not necessarily in that order. Perhaps there will be a different order in which I arrange those two things. I am yet to decide.

There are so many questions that I have before I can make my final decision. Should they be in the order that they present themselves? Should I reverse the order? Should I consider the possibility of starting one, then the other, then creating some sort of interweaving narrative so as to create some sort of sense of implied brilliance? I’m really not sure on this one, but there certainly is a way that this can be done and I need to find out in which way that it can be done.

On one hand, there are options and sometimes you need to narrow down the options before you can make an informed decision. Sometimes it is better to do this than not doing this as it means that you’re more likely to make an informed decision and of course an informed decision means that you’re more likely to come out okay on the end. Perhaps it is a way of hedging one’s bets, so to speak.

On the other hand, despite there being options it should be fine to go in with reckless abandon. Well, not always, but in this instance it just might be fine. There are little, if any dangers present and the likelihood of coming out of this in a position worse for wear is pretty low. This is something that I could very easily treat as though it wasn’t even a thought and it is likely that nothing would happen as there is nothing to gain and lose form this. That is something I need to also bear in mind.

Weighing these two options up and I am not sure as to which will be better for today. Sure, the second one seems like it is the obvious choice, but the first also has its perks of which would be foolish for me to ignore as then I would be limiting my options for no discernible reason.

Then there might be other options of which I am yet to consider and that too is something that I must consider, but I don’t know what those options are. As I do not know as to what those options are, I don’t think that I shall even bother giving them the time or day of trying to dignify them with a thought, and so I am going to resolutely stick to these two options and try and work out which one is the best before I go ahead and do something.

Well, now that I have said all of that, I guess that the best option to take form here is to go ahead and begin the considering.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:45:39

Another writing where I feel as though my being tired shows. However, I feel as though this one flows a bit better than my usual writing.

Chiswick Wharf

It has been a rather long day so it’s just a photo I’m sharing today.

Here’s a photo of Chiswick Wharf.

I feel as though this image looks moody. Perhaps a little dramatic. Maybe a little posed.

I hope you enjoy

Flying Foxes Over Bridge

This is a photo I took a few weeks ago.

Two of my housemates and I went to a lookout near Gladesville Bridge so I could attempt to capture it during sunset. I had a feeling the sunset would be strong and would work well with the bridge.

We got there and there was too much cloud cover where the sun was so, other than some slight patches of colour off in the far distance, the sunset was quite restrained.

We stayed for roughly thirty to forty minutes and I was able to take a few photos such as this one.

I like that this section of the bridge feels suspended in air due to it lacking relational context. I also like that the traffic makes the bridge feel quieter than it is as there was more traffic than this photo suggests.

I also like how the flying foxes appear small, but unmissable. I think that their appearance draws attention well due to how they contrast against the design of the bridge and the vehicles.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-twenty-seventh Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Precious Moments“.

For me this is a precious moment as I don’t see many flying foxes where I live. It’s nice to see them in groups whilst moving through the air.

I also feel this is a precious moment as around this point I felt a desire to come back to the spot where I took this photo and try and capture the flying foxes again, but with different weather conditions to see how it would affect the scene.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Amy. Next week Leya is curating.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 834: Regurgitating Things I’ve Said

And so the afternoon crept up and left and now it is the afternoon still.

Anyway, I’ve been sitting here feeling sick and thus feeling a little sorry for myself, but now I feel as though I can get on with things and get on with things I shall as there is a bit to do and all that jazz and other stuff and so on and so forth, maybe and I don’t know but you  know that may be a good thing or it may be a bad thing and so on and so forth.

But yeah. Sitting here, feeling sorry for myself and trying to keep on going on as I’ve come this far without missing a day for more than a few days at this point and, even though it might not be a good thing to keep on going at the moment, I’m going to keep on going as I don’t want to miss a day. I have a slight plan and I intend to see it through to the end, so… yeah. Going to keep on going. Still, the feeling of being ill is not fun to deal with, but anyway.

So it is the afternoon and I am regurgitating the things that I have said in the past but that is nothing new as I’m just regurgitating things I’ve said in the past and pointing it out… which might be new. Haven’t worked that bit out yet. Might work it out later. Might not. In any event, I’m sure that when I get to the  end of this I will be talking about something else. Maybe I’ll be talking about the pain in my wrist. Maybe I’ll be talking about feeling ill. Maybe I will be talking about the sky and how it is not cursed and how I like that the sky is not cursed as it means then that I don’t have to worry about walking under a cursed sky, which is something I prefer over worrying about walking under a cursed sky.

I wouldn’t mind walking under a sky that was threatening to release the contents of many droplets of water down onto the area upon which I was walking through. Maybe get a bit of a cathartic moment as I experience all the water falling down. Scream into the sky, let my tears mix into the rainfall, that kind of stuff. At the same time, I’m not much in the mood for that kind of dramatic scenery, and perhaps would just rather have a bit of a fun walk through an afternoon shower.

At the moment it is sunny outside so I don’t think that that is something I’m going to be able to do today, but perhaps there will be some other days in the approaching series of days that are in my future where I will be able to engage in this act of experiencing rain during the experience of walking in some sort of most occurring experience.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:23:89

I like some of the sentences in this, but this feels rather flat.

Cast Against the Sunset

Another sunset and some more vegetation in silhouette.

I think it is a combination of the colour and the contrast between the sky and the flora that makes me like this scene. The resultant moodiness is something that I find appealing, so… yeah.

I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 96: I Need Sleep

Alright, so I have a little bit of time to kill as I’m currently waiting between “gigs” (The one that I am currently covering is three gigs in a sense; More of a festival on a rather small scale), so I thought I’d try and get a little bit of writing done so that a little bit more writing is done.

This table is a little bit more comfortable to sit at when it comes to writing and working, but it also is a little more nauseating due to the angled mirror in front of me. Not helping matters at all so I am trying to avoid looking at it so I feel a little less nauseous. Not fun, let me tell you. However, there are worse things and at the moment the first band of the final part is warming up and making sure all is good and I like this as it means that I get to listen to something rather pleasing and not have to worry about whether I am going to need to review it or not. It’s just nice stuff and nice stuff is always a bonus to have…. sometimes.

The light is darkening outside. Maybe the proper phrase here is “gradually absconding”, but I don’t know. I don’t know what the proper phrase is. I do know, however, that I am sitting here and trying to avoid looking at a mirror so I can focus on this and then get on with things which will mean getting toward the doing of the next thing and so on and so forth.

Outside of this room the music keeps on playing and dancing something mysterious and in here I dance over the keyboard and try and collate letters into words. It is a relationship that doesn’t quite exist, but perhaps it is indeed there. Perhaps the music is guiding me right now and I do not know of it, even though I have made the suggestion. It is possible but it is not something I am willing to entertain at the present moment as that would then mean that I have to write away from the writing that I am currently writing and that is something that I do not want to do. I want to continue with what I am currently doing for some reason. Not sure why, but I just do.

So I’ve come this far at this point and I think I’m doing alright for time. I’m looking over at the time and it seems that I’m doing alright. Feeling rather tired but am going to push on through. Only three more hours before I can head on home. This has been a rather long day, but I can get there in the end.

So long as I do not look at the mirror, I can get there in the end. I am not enjoying how the mirror is making me feel, but I think I can get through it. I think I can get to the end of this. Hopefully I can. Hopefully I make it and then I don’t have to worry about anything else for a little while.

Maybe I’m going to fall into the hole of no hope. Maybe I will fall into the hole of hopelessness. I’m trying not to, but there is every chance that I will. Fatigue is chasing me and soon I will need to hide and there are no shrubs or trees or other objects and organism of which I would be able to put myself behind so as to avoid the gaze of that which is chasing me at this particular juncture in time. As such, I think I need to keep on going and might just have to jump into one of these holes I’d rather not as that would mean then that I might have no form of hope of which I could claim as my own, but if push comes to shove, then I imagine that I don’t have much of a choice, to be honest. Still, there are other things out there that need to be worried about but all I want to do is enjoy the lovely melodies that are coming forward from the other room and not realise that they just might be guiding my writing to some extent at this particular point in time.

If it turns out that they are not, then who am I to say so? I am not willing to entertain the notion as I don’t want to. I want to kick the dirt and spit on the ground and be a rebel of some sort. Rebelling against myself in order to release myself from the lack of challenging myself so I can move on with myself and walk forward but there will be grumbling and perhaps a bit of swearing. That is what I am claiming and there is nothing out there that can stop me.

Anyway, I think I now need to choose as to which hole I am going to jump into. That thing that I mentioned earlier is still coming after me and so I need to make the decision. However, instead of choosing one of those holes, I am going to take another option. I am going to break this little fantasy of which I am creating and instead going to get up off this seat and go take care of things that I need to take care of as there are things that I need to take care of and they need to be taken care of sooner rather than later. The music that the musicians were playing is no longer coming forward and so I should get on with doing other things so that I can be ready to shoot the next part.

However, instead of doing that straight away I am going to sit a little longer as sitting is something that I do and it is something that I happen to do well.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 09:59:71

This ramble was brought to you by not enough sleep and being rather drained.

Written somewhere in Newtown.
