Rei Kondoh: The Sun Rises

With this I was trying to articulate the feelings and imagery more than how the song progressed. Despite familiarity with the song it took two listens and I’m not sure as to how successful I was.

Rei Kondoh’s (近藤 嶺) “The Sun Rises” (“太陽は昇る”) is from Ōkami Original Soundtrack, the soundtrack for Clover Studios’ Ōkami, a lovingly-crafted game. The soundtrack was composed by a few different people and the aim was (as far as I am aware) to create something that fit the setting quite well. I believe that if that was indeed the aim, then it was a success as the soundtrack is an excellent fit for the game’s aesthetic and environment.

I hope you enjoy.

A brief moment of calm and relief, then the drum beat gallops and the music plays precise, rising music. The sound of victory, of gaining the upper hand is felt in horns, strings, percussion and perhaps flute, among other things. Their sound is full, driving and everything sits in its right place. It keeps going and spreads, full of energy and passion as from a grave situation now has the sun risen and it pushes back against once-overwhelming odds and bathes the world in its light.

It is not all victory, however, for there is some sadness, though perhaps that is to be expected. Some of that sadness comes with the incoming need to say farewells and separate, but that is sometimes what is required. There still is a comfort in there somewhere, for despite sadness it was better to at least know and go on the journey. The time to reflect on the events will come later, even though there certainly is some at this point. Despite all of that, there comes certainty and conviction in one’s actions and so the path toward rising up and fighting back and ensuring victory in order to protect those who need it is keenly followed.

It is not a lonesome victory, however, among the gathering of instruments and the galloping beat and the rush of energy that comes forward from the comforting, driving and flowing sound reveals that it took the power of belief from those who didn’t realise who was helping them to help the sun rise again and continue on its path, and so just as all seemed lost the sun rose once more.

The sun rose and it repelled that which it needed to and so victory was had and all was finally well, but the parting remains and it cannot be prevented, but even so they just might carry each other in their hearts and memories, for soon the time for reflection will come to be, as that may be all that is left, but those moments of course are ones someone treasures for the rest of their life.

Lone Bus

A singular bus moving along what appears to be an empty section of a bridge held aloft by support structures.

This was a lucky shot due to the low levels of traffic. Makes the scene feel much more empty and quiet. Perhaps also more overtly lonely. With more traffic it may still have felt lonely, but with greater subtlety.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 840: Waited Far Too Long

Oh no, I have waited far too long to do this and now it is dark outside and I have little time left, so I now find myself in a position where I just rush if I want to get this done, but I don’t want to rush. I want to take it easy, but I don’t get to take it easy and now I must rush if I am to get anything done at this particular hour.

However, if I rush I might also energise just a little too much and that too is something I’d much rather avoid. Don’t want to power up. Want to wind down. Can’t wind down. Have to do things. And so on and so forth and you get the idea.

But now it is evening and I am working late and I don’t want to be working late. I should try and at least slow down a little so that I don’t have too many spelling errors to correct before I share this, but perhaps I will instead ignore that thing I should try and go a little bit faster so I can get more done in less time. Screw the mistakes; I will clean them up! Even though I don’t want to as I’m feeling lazy, though not surly, which I guess is a good thing, or something.

Anyway, I think I have an idea as to what I want to write about right now and that idea is writing about what I want to write about right now. However, I need to work out how it is that I go about creating the idea and making it come to fruition. There are steps that must be taken and I am not going to take those steps at the present moment as I’m slowing down again and I don’t know as to why. It’s not like I haven’t been doing a lot of typing over the past year and more, but perhaps this is a sign that I have not been typing properly and it finally is catching up to me and now I must pay for the mistakes and transgressions that I have made. All of this has finally come back to me and it is affecting me by making me type a little slower than I hoped that I would be typing at this present moment.

Of course, this could also have to do with the fact that I am doing this in the evening rather than the morning and as such my body is forcing me into a state of being relaxed. I don’t know if that actually is the case, but I’m going to pretend that it is as therefore I can then do the pretending thing and go on about my merry way to wherever it is that I want to be taken. Of course I will be taken by the power of my moving forward and forward is where I will go and how I’ll move.

So a lot of this felt rather slow to write but the time indicates that it wasn’t quite slow writing. Interesting how the perception of time can shift.

Santa Head

The head of Santa as seen on some sort of display that shows the head of Santa.

This photo feels slightly grim and I’m happy with that.
I also like that due to the angle the head looks a little more squished than it is.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-twenty-eighth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “And Here Comes the Holiday Season…“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Leya. From here the lovely hosts are on break until the 2nd of January. I believe Tina will be curating that one.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Sunset Cirrus

Pretty sure that these are cirrus clouds.

This was part of a sunset I captured a few weeks ago.

I think that the clouds add a sort of textural element to the image whilst providing a sort of… well, not unearthly look as it’s very much of this planet, but… yeah…

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 839: Brought to you by a Potential Concussion

Alright, so anyway, it’s the afternoon and the shadows are yet to draw long, but I sit here and hope for the best and that they draw longer than usual in some manner that allows the reaching of a linking between shadows and other shadows so that at the end of the day when all is said and done the approaching of the time known as “night” approaches and does what it is meant to do, which is whatever it is that night is meant to do, which is something a bit beyond what I can comprehend at the moment as I hit my head and am feeling a little off. Nothing I cannot shake off, however.

Anyway, when this night approaches it will then be time for the resting and the resting involves closing one’s eyes so as to be able to rest, or something. Actually, there are a few different ways in which rest can be achieved and this is but one of them. Therefore I shall proceed to list all the different ways of resting, except I won’t as, quite frankly, I don’t feel like doing so and would rather recline and be lazy and all of those other things that I would much rather do. Besides which, my hands don’t seem to be working too well today and as such it might not be advisable for me to try and go ahead and punch forward with writing a lengthy list that doesn’t really go anywhere or express anything that you don’t already know, so that is something, or something.

Well, maybe I should, but if I do it shall not be today. I shall be on another day as there are other days upon which I may feel up to the supposed task of doing a thing of which I don’t feel like doing at the present moment due to the severe laziness of which I am currently entertaining and a small inclusion of other reasons, such that it is that reasons occur and do the thing and so on and so forth and I don’t know whether to go from here as I’m tired and grouchy and just want to go to sleep soon and all that other stuff that I want to do, but do not feel as though I have the time for due to reasons of varying strength of which I do not have the effort or inclination to outline due to various other reasons, creating a web of reasoning of which I cannot get into at the present moment as it seems that…

So anyway, I was thinking about continuing that tangent, but that won’t happen at the present moment as I’m tired and lazy and all those other things, so instead of all of that you get this ending which feels more uninspired than usual, but at the very least it probably comes from the heart, though I don’t really know if it does unless I actually do, so yeah.

Oh well. Should be fine.

Blind Idiot God: Thunderhead

This was written over one listen.

I’m kind of surprised that I got this much out of it as “Thunderhead” moves quickly and is quite relentless. Maybe it was due to familiarity with the song from listening to it a bit over time (I’ve previously used it to help write a review for another band).

I think this kind of captures parts of the mood and experience I got from this listen. There’s a bit of describing what is happening, but I feel that the idea of what is being experienced is a little bit more prominent here.

Blind Idiot God’s “Thunderhead” is from their album Cyclotron.

I hope you enjoy.

Slight noise, then a full, continuous, almost overwhelming guitar. Percussion helps to guide the thing along. A hard metallic sound. The bass drops in, plays something that helps to create a sense of up and down, perhaps like waves and the percussion increases in complexity and the song becomes faster and faster. Suddenly the band are moving at a blistering pace.

A slight slowing down and they’re suddenly heaving a significant weight. There’s an interplay between the previous section, though sped up and this new section. The dragging and the heaving.

Slowing down a little, everything sounds furious yet calculated. Crashing over everything is the percussion and the guitar and bass keep on moving in a specific way. Menace creeps in for a brief moment before the band start… thundering and galloping away.

The percussion and bass lock firmly into each other and the guitar rises into the heavens, creating its own form of brightened noise. For a brief moment it stops and the percussion becomes like a thunderous roll before pulling away. Then it all picks back up again and the band just strike out and keep the intensity going, refusing to relent and pushing on forward, just really hammering the whole thing in and creating significant intensity, but once the percussion stops its main assault, the bass and guitar lose their anchor and they come to an end.

Boat Waves Among Waves

Just an image of waves from a bout among waves from wind.

It’s a nice, easy image I think.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 838: Just Writing About Stuff

There’s something a little bit more tense about this morning, and I am not talking about the heat for once. However, it really is the heat and so I’m just going to see where everything takes me and so on and so forth and you get the idea.

I think that NaNoWriMo drained me a little more than usual. It was a good event and a bad event to participate in, so whilst I have no regrets, I also feel as though I should probably have held off and focused my energy elsewhere so as to be able to get other, more pressing things done, or something.

I think at this point it would also be a good idea to take a long break and get away from Stupidity Hole for a while, as much as I kind of don’t want to and probably won’t. Getting to a point where I need to focus on earning money more than I need to focus on updating this place with rambling nonsense.

But, as just said, probably won’t as I’m probably too stubborn to stop, or something. Besides which, other reasons and so on and so forth, but I’m rapidly realising that as much as I enjoy doing Stupidity Hole, I can’t keep making the time for it if my need to keep on surviving and putting my time elsewhere is potentially compromised, so we’ll see.

Now, toward other things I guess, now that I’ve said that.

Actually, I don’t really know if right now I have anything else to say. That’s pretty much all there is this morning. NaNoWriMo took it out of me and that’s fine, but it also has left me drained. I need to make more money and so am getting to a point where I probably can’t keep doing this and that’s not something I want, but it’s something that I need to start considering more as I really can’t keep ignoring it and keep on going with this, despite how much I enjoy doing this at any given moment. Kind of sucks, but oh well.

Still, for now I’ll keep going until I no longer can and, as said just before I’ll probably keep on going even when I need to come to a complete stop as that is what I do. Not sure if that is healthy, but it is what I do and… yeah.

In a way I feel a bit bad for writing this but this is what is coming forward right now and… well, yeah. I guess it is what needs to be said and so I’ve said it and it is said and now I’ve nothing else to say this morning, which is what it is, I guess.

I don’t have any fancy way of ending this. No silly rambling sentences; no pointless and awkward word combinations. Don’t know what else there is I can say, buy sometimes that is the way that things go and so I’ll close this here.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 08:40:99

Normally writing about this kind of stuff tanks the views but I’m not fussed.

I feel that it’s more important to talk about these things despite my feeling selfish about talking about them.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 837: Heat is On

The heat is on!

Well, it isn’t, but maybe it is. It certainly is getting warmer in here and as it is also humid it is also feeling more humid in here. Not pleasant and all that other stuff, so I must whinge in order to assert my whinging as something that I am doing. That is how this all works and so I need to make sure that it keeps on working, or something. That is indeed what I will do. The best way to proceed, really.

So anyway, now that I have that off of my chest, I must admit that the music of which I am currently playing is rather lovely to some extent and that also I am enjoying it, but I won’t write about it as there are other things to compute in this little brain of mine and the computing is a thing that will indeed happen and in fact it is happening right now. What I am computing is the thought “Why am I writing this?”, which is indeed a thought that I just had and now it is viewable, so you all know a little bit more about me. How wonderful.

So anyway, I think that now that I have that off of my chest, I shall try to find something else that can be expressed through the medium of expression, as there are things out there that can and cannot be expressed and expressing is something that I do intend to do and do it so soon that I shall have expresses something and you won’t even realise it, or something. That is how good I am and I am so good at the thing that I am saying I am so good at doing that I cannot even believe as to how good I am at doing it, such is my prowess of doing good and not bad.

Alright, so anyway, now that I have that off of my chest, I think I can get back to doing what I was doing before, which to be honest was not much. That is a thing that happens sometimes. Sometimes the art of not doing much is something that happens and so it was something that just happened and  now that I am expressing the thing that happened, I can openly admit that I have no idea as to what I am doing right now and am desperately hoping for a neat little way to end all of this. However, that sentences was probably a little too long for what it was that I was saying and so I am just going to walk away from it all and pretend that none of this ever happened and that no one will ever read this so that I can go back to living in the fantasy land of my own construction, which is where I kind of want to be right now, but cannot due to the need to process a few photos.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 04:42:42

Well, this certainly expressed something. Perhaps it expressed some sort of boredom.
