One Thousand Word Challenge 75: Wind to a Magical Land

Doing that pressure thing again as I have a bit of time before the going back to the work and the act of working commences. Not enough time to get things I want to get done done (outside of this of course), but enough time to get this done… I think. We’ll see. Don’t know yet.

I think that this wind is getting a little too windy for my liking. Hopefully it goes away sooner rather than later. Hopefully the customers also go away. Actually, some of them have been rather pleasant today. That’s a bonus to sitting here and working, so I guess that not all of it is bad today. Would rather pretend that it is all bad, but I cannot and therefore I have to concede that some people have been rather pleasant and that is always something valued in our customers.

What else is there to say? I don’t really know, if I am to be even more honest. Am going to pretend that I have valuable things to say, but of course we all know that today that is not the case. This is merely a distraction so as to trick you all, though I am going to trick myself at the end of it all as there is no one but myself of which whom I am able to deceive, but we’re not going down that path today. That was done far too recently (as far as I am concerned), so therefore we are not going to do that again. Not today. Maybe some time next year when I forget about the fact that I d0id the thing that involved the deceit of the self. Next year; not this year. Maybe.

Other things that I could cover are the winds, but they seem to be carrying some sort of weight with them and that is something that I would like to explore, so I don’t know as to why I implied that I would not like to explore that. A bit puzzling for my tired brain at the moment, but then again it would be puzzling for me at any given time, so I’m not going to pretend that I am some sort of genius hard done by as there are better things to pretend at this present moment of time, but of course I will not be pretending those things as I don’t want to do so. Got nothing in the imagination bank at the moment, so let me begin this bit of writing by talking about the wind and going from there. Maybe this will pick up.

So anyway, the wing: it’s a thing. Sometimes it is not a thing in certain locations, but often it is a thing somewhere and therefore it is a thing that needs to be contended with. There are a lot of things that need to be contended with and sometimes that is the way things are, though in this case it is… no, it’s the same thing.

Anyway, the wind is blowing and it is picking up things. It picks up steam and picks up wisps of things. It picks up the whispers of the heart and carries them far and away from the source of origin. Sometimes it even picks up the source of origin. Where it will take those things? I do not know. The wind does not know, for it only carries and deposits. Sometimes it withdraws, actually.

So the wind is blowing and it is piking up things and carrying them far and away, off to some sort of magical land where the dancing and the commemoration and all the celebration goes on with reckless abandon. Here things get deposited and thus, now that they are uprooted from familiarity and dropped into the unfamiliar, they are not too content with this new reality of which they did not ask to be a part.

There is no returning. There is no getting out of the situation of which they now find themselves in and therefore they must adapt and coexist with what is around them. Often this is a rather easy thing to do, but for some it is much harder than they had expected. This expectation is, of course, based on initial expectations and realisations. Sometimes it seems easy, but sometimes it is not. However, there is one thing that rings true: always, always, always do the things that get deposited here in this magical land end up in a position of being celebratory, somehow.

However, the wind is cursed at by the people and the objects that inhabit this land, for they did not wish to be uprooted from where they were and some of them miss what they had, only to never be able to return and also unable to let go, therefore forcing their need to adapt far more than they would like. Some would consider this unfair, but not the wind, for the wind considers nothing and only does what it needs to do, or sometimes does not need to do depending on the time of day and the direction in which it just so happens to be moving.

Perhaps there will be a day in where the wind decides to return all of those and that of which it has brought to this land of magic, but until then that and those which are planted there will be forced to stay and therefore will engage in the celebration and the commiseration of their surroundings being what they shall forevermore know, for they have little choice in the matter and therefore just will try and get on with things the best that they can.

Well, that is what I have to say about the wind today. There is little else upon which I can shed light, but let me tell you, I’m just going to get back to what I was doing and hopefully get it all done.

Until next time, this has been some sort of thing.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 789: Cold Day

Cold day, winds blowing. Seems wet and miserable outside, but right now it’s not raining. I guess that might be seen as a positive. However, it can also be seen as a negative. Don’t know as to why I felt a need to state that, but I did and now it has been stated and I’m not going back on that as the only way right now is forward, though I must admit that perhaps I will loop around later. We’ll see.

Anyway, it’s a bit sad as the rain was almost like an old friend and now it’s gone, but I’m sure that it will return at various points in the day, in which it really just might feel like an old friend at that point and that’s not something I necessarily want to feel, though perhaps I do. A bit indecisive at the moment about all of that stuff, really.

I know that at the very least I’m going to be sitting here so I may as well try to make use of my time before I don’t have enough time to get things done in the day, though of course that is approaching soon. I know that I will be spending part of that time listening to music and thus through the art of listening to music I shall be doing one thing, but perhaps I should be doing other things. Perhaps there should be more resting rather than less, but there are things to do and I don’t want more days of laziness as I’ve had enough of those.

Saying things I’ve said plenty of times and need to move away from, so I guess that from this point onward this writing will be about other things, such as the time I am trying to not look at as it distracts from the writing and that is not want I want right now. I don’t want to be distracting myself. I just want a continuous writing that expresses something, even if it is only slightly more interesting than the tedium of something not that interesting, or something.

Perhaps this is where it all ends and I need to realise that the bubble upon which I have contained myself isn’t going to get any bigger unless I pop it and just make a clean break from the whole affair of writing about the one (or at least small group) subject (or subjects) rather than try and wean my way off of it, as something something and then realisation about how I can grow as a person instead of just holding myself back for fear of failure, as it is time that I step out of my own shadow and truly let myself explore the possibilities afforded to me and let all the pain and hurt come in and learn to grow from it and face it and fight it off so that I too can finally become stronger and thus climb the mountain of my own inertia.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:39:68

This is… merely okay.
That’s all I have to say.

Walking Whilst Singing

Another Anderon .Paak photo (previously-shared ones here, here, here and here).

I like how this photo feels moody even though that moodiness also feels superfluous. It makes the shot feel “artistic”. That said, I think that the low light really helps to draw focus on how Anderson .Paak was going through the process of movement at this particular moment in time.

The image kind of feels a bit ambiguous in some parts… I think.

This photo was taken for Culture Eater. You can find a review of Anderson Paak’s performance here and the corresponding gallery here. Please go check them out, as well as the other stuff that our contributors are contributing.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 788: Rainy Saturday Ramble

No ideas, no plans. Going straight through the whole thing, however.

Might do a bit today. Might do a little. Currently trapped in the hose by the fall of the rain, however. Gotta sit through the rain. Might mean there might be a bit of reading. What an exciting planning that is ahead of me. Quite exciting, and rather yes.

Still, I’d much rather that this rain does not rain on my parade today. There’s gardening that needs to be done and I don’t quite feel like working in the rain, though I probably will at least do a little bit of working in the rain as there is stuff that needs to be taken care of, and all of that other stuff that goes along with taking care of things that involve gardens and backyards.

Anyway, I’m inside and I’m feeling a little bored and to be honest that’s not a bad position to be in as I still get to be in a position of comfort. I get to be comfortable and bored, though realistically I’m not actually bored as I’m doing things, though perhaps it would be better to be bored…

Anyway, this is rather annoying as my plans are ruined. I don’t want to curse the rain, but I shall be grumpy about it and how dare anyone try to tell me otherwise. I’m allowed to be grumpy about what I want and I am going to exercise that right until I don’t feel like exercising it anymore. Keeps me going, but so does the desire to eat and there is a desire to eat as well as a mild grumpiness, though that’s more to do with sleep than it is the rain.

So anyway, now that I’ve got that out of the way, I need to get the next thing out of the way which is whatever the next thing that needs to be getting out of the way of my vicious charged needs to be. I think it might be the act of writing. Writing needs to get out of the way so that there can be even more writing. More writing means more creating and creating and spending time creating is a thing that is something that can be done, so doing it is indeed what I will choose to do. Need to stop slowing down and speed back up, but instead of charging perhaps I just want to appreciate the scenery of which I am surrounded by; walls, a window that lets me look out to a fence and a wall and a roof, and a bit of light above me.

Actually, I’m just going to go outside and charge around in the rain. That would be much more fun, I think. More cathartic and all that. Then again, would need to dry up pretty quickly when I get back inside. Don’t quite feel like doing that at the moment.

I think I’ll stay inside instead and try to work on stuff.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:20:59

This feels like I was warming up for writing. Kind of was, kind of wasn’t.

It’s a bit… it’s okay, but as always, it could be much better.

A Poem About Someone Getting Caught in Rainfall

So something happened earlier that really annoyed me and I was going to write about it, but instead here’s a poem that peters out by the third verse.

Probably starts in the first verse.

I hope you enjoy.

As the clouds form above
Darkening the sunlit ground
He stops, does not look up
Instead looks down for the time

In failing to see the signs
He does not seek shelter
Instead he expresses annoyance
At those rushing on past him

As the clouds above fall
In small parcels of water
He does not notice
Until it is too late

Angles from an Angle

I took a few photos of the transmission tower I recently shared a photo of as I was trying to capture it at specific angles. A lot of the photos didn’t work out the way I wanted, but in processing them I found them to be more interesting than if I had gone only for what I wanted. I feel as though they revealed more about the structure, though admittedly that might just be me trying to justify processing them. Maybe.

Anyway, here’s another photo of this particular transmission tower. I feel as though this photo does a decent job of covering part of the structure from underneath whilst also implying a sense of depth.

I like that, as this is not a “flat” photo, the space around the structure skews a bit.

The processing of this photo involved a bit of stuffing around; hence the colouring. Rather than trying to show the transmission tower as the brutal, industrial-appearing thing that it is, I ended up with something that kind of feels dry and “stylishly bleak”.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 787: Pile of Stuff

So I suppose that, seeing as I am this far into the afternoon I really should get into whatever it is that I need to get into. Pile of stuff and all of that jazz, or however it is that the saying goes.

So anyway, it’s warm, plants are watered, camera is clean and I’m sitting here, doing the keyboard thing. Don’t know how this will end but I do know how this started; at the beginning. Probably should see if I can get this to start in the middle, but that might have to wait for another day. Don’t feel like doing the thing right now. Don’t feel like doing much, to be honest.

Bit warm, but nothing that cannot be handled with a bit of time and handling. That’s okay. Could be worse. Could be better, but could be worse. Not so bad that I need to exit the room. Not so bad that I need to leave the door open. Might do so soon enough, however. Want to let a bit of a breeze in. Get a bit of that air flowing. Well, the window is open but with the door also open, then the idea of a breeze might just waltz its way in and then the room will feel a little bit cooler, even if only for a brief period. That’s fine by me.

Anyway, now that I’m at this point I guess I should look at getting to the other side of the proverbial hill. Still a bit to go, but don;’t want to make it all based on stalling. Gotta hit the crest, then slowly roll and glide on all the way to where I proclaim the end of this bit of writing. Not too far to go, nearly there. Just gotta keep going and control the speed and then I will get to where I need to get and how I want to get there will be the process used in order to get there, wherever there may be.

I believe that it would be the end of this writing for the day. There will be more to come, however, but that will involve a slight turn at an intersection and thus the process of going up another hill that may or may not be taller. Do not know.

Should that be larger? Also do not know.

Well, it’s more that I don’t care enough to know at the present moment. More caring about the fact that I’ve started doing stuff late and only have a short amount of time to get things done, though that isn’t different from usual.

I think I should just take the proverbial vehicle of acceleration and see where it goes other than up another, potentially more challenging hill. Stall it somewhere on a flat. That would not be a good thing to do, but of course it might open up some possibilities that were not there before the stalling.

Probably shouldn’t make the car stall, really.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 04:52:62

This was fast to write and it came out kind of cohesive, so perhaps that signals some kind of improvement.

Red and White Hippeastrum

Could be known as an Easter lily, or a red and white belladonna, or a red and white Amaryllis. There are a few names but I’ve been unable to find the specific one for this so I’m using the genus name.

This was in bloom a few weeks ago in my front yard. It also was in bloom last year but I didn’t take photos. Decided to do so this time around.

I think it’s a rather pretty flower. I like the petal arrangement, as well as the colours and the pattern they form. Just pleasant to look at, I think.

I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 74: Once More in a Rut

I’ve already seen the queues and now I am dreading the commencement of work more than I was earlier, but sometimes that is the way things go. Bit of dread but nothing I cannot overcome.

I think I’m once more stuck in a rut. However, the reason I feel that way is it feels like I got out of the previous one, had a bit of a look around, then decided to go back in, feeling as though the adventurous and mysterious world out there was a little too overbearing.

Okay, so that’s a little bit dramatic, especially for this hour of the morning. However, that is kind of how I feel. Maybe a little less dramatic. Hard to tell at the present moment.

So now I need to find a way to claw my way back out of this little rut of which I seem to keep on inhabiting and then seal it off before I decide to turn back round and go back in. Need to get away from it and find another rut; one that is moving continually so that I’m not so worried about getting stuck in one spot. Well, there would need to be some stops along the way, but still, need to keep on moving. Nothing wrong with getting deeper on a subject (or subjects), but there is an issue with recognising the need to get way from some stuff and not doing so. Well, sometimes. As always, it depends on how you feel about things.

So anyway, this is the bit of writing that I am using to try and get myself out of this little hole,. I need to claw my way out. No going back. Need to find other stuff. Need to go on a bit of a search,. as they say, whoever they are,. Don’t know; never met them… yet.

Of course the search for something new often is filled with plenty of missteps, but in those missteps plants can grow and life can spring forth. There are a lot of ways of turning things around (depending on what it is, of course) and that is something that I need to take into consideration. Just can’t stay still for very ling. Need to keep on moving. Need to move forward.

So what I’m currently trying to do is turn this all into some sort of story, but it’s not quite working as perhaps I’m just not letting myself be free enough with this writing. However, I still want to steer everything in a (sort of) specific direction. Not finding the balance, I think. Maybe I should just let everything go and go completely free and see what happens, but then again right now I don’t want to see what happens. I just want to get my intentions across and then leave it at that. So long as I do that, then I can surely get on with the doing of other things and the other writings after the fact. Be a bit more free then. Pretend that I’m doing free jazz in writing form. Not the case, but that is what I would like to pretend that I am doing, so I guess I need to get on with it, or something.

Perhaps I just need to pretend that I’m being far more improvisational than I actually am. don’t know if I can, but maybe if I do pretend long enough, then I will get back to what the aim of these bits of writing were for, but of course I would need to stick to it for a while so as to show some sort of traceable change. Not necessarily growth; just the change will be fine for the time being.

What if I am not receiving in change, however? What i0f everything exchanged is everything exactly as of itself? What do I do then? Do I just keep on going and then decide to tunnel my way out? Is that what I am meant to do? What if I do so and then just end up on the other side 0of a mountain? What do I do from there? Where do I go from there? Do I just go back in and appreciate the slight breeze I’ve now acquired whilst I then tunnel away from it and try to dig deeper, only to find myself back where I started? Need to really just push away from it all.

I could instead just go for a walk down the side of the mountain and see what is there and delight in what isn’t there whilst also delighting in what is there and then go from there. Consider it as a journey of sorts, as that is what it is. Find some sort of meaning and form of growth in the whole thing and appreciate the sights and converse with nature. I think. Don’t know. What I do know is that I need to find a way out of this rut in which I am currently inhabiting.

I should really just crawl out of it and do what I wrote I would do earlier: seal it before I can get back in. I’m kind of done with mentioning work, but of course that will continue. Just need to move away from it. See it as part of my past, remember it, but get away from the whole thing. I’m more interesting in flights of fancy and letting the mind run free. Seeing where it leads but not necessarily chase after it, if that make sense. Of course there needs to be some sort of grounding, but I really want to let loose and create a massive, incomprehensible mess that is equal parts massive and incomprehensible. That would suit me fine at the present moment. However, maybe not. Need to retain some sort of discipline along the way.

Well, I guess this is a continuation of shifting. Will probably get worse before it gets better, but who knows what will happen?

The time it took to write one thousand words: 09:53:82

Another thing I mashed out before work and was not able to upload until now.
It was a long day.

So this is… I think I illustrated my point.

Moody Percussion

Behold! An drummer.

This is a photo of Liam Merrett-Park that I didn’t use in this form for the gallery on Culture Eater borne from the photos I took of Crooked Colours when they played at The Enmore last year (review here). The version in the gallery isn’t monochrome. I think I didn’t use this one as I felt the colour version worked better for the gallery.

I do like how this photo feels moody and “atmospheric”. I also like that, whilst not entirely visible, there’s clarity in Liam Merrett-Park’s movement.

As a side note, here are three other photos from the gig.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.
