The Past Two Days

Over the past two days I spent a fair bit of time on the road.

That is to say that there was a lot of driving as Fe and I went around part of NSW and did a little bit of exploring, as it were.

We went high and we went low. We saw things that we hadn’t seen before. We also saw some things that I had seen previously, but not in as relaxed a capacity as the past two days.

There was a lot of driving, but I think that I have already mentioned that, so I will try to avoid mentioning it once more.

It was interesting to see how similar and different various areas were.

Some gorgeous lookouts.

And so on.

I guess that the biggest thing about the trek was the sense of journey. It was a small one, but it was a journey nonetheless. We really got to see some interesting things and we got to do some exploration that lead to seeing more interesting things.

No swimming, sadly.

Getting to explore and get away from Sydney was just a much-needed thing, I think.

Accommodation in a local pub.
Checking out some blowholes.

Rock islands, rock formations, escarpments, traveling above water near a cliff by foot…

No real sense of “getting away from it all” as there were quite a number of towns we traversed through, but not feeling of desire to “get away from it all”.

Just a desire to explore. It spurned us onward and even though we didn’t get to see as much as I initially hoped we would, what we saw was worth the time we invested.

Oh. Petting a bull.

More of The Cooks River

As per the title.

I think the curvature of the “river” is nice as it really gives a sense of the whole thing getting away from you… or perhaps coming toward you.

Not much water so you see more of the base and it almost seems as though the only thing that’s separating the colour of the water and the base is the bright glow along the water’s edge.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 536: Basic Routine Story

A single drop of water had sat there without being seen or noticed. It sat there for a long time before someone finally saw that it was merely a present spectator and thus, the person did what most people would do and decided to sweep it away with their hand rather than a cloth.

Of course, all this did was spread the drop out, and so then a form of fabric was used after in order to move the small, unimposing drop away. From there it changed shape even further as it became absorbed ed by the fabric, which then of course would lead to its next form; that of condensation over a gradual amount of time and warmth that would lead to its evaporation in order to change the form from something akin to liquid to something akin to gas.

This was nature of the drop as it did not have any control over its journey.

So of course it followed its path and the fabric followed its. Through a sweeping action the fabric was first on a surface, then airborne once more, then moved to another location where it would rest until it needed to be used once more. Or perhaps it would rest until it would be temporarily discarded before being placed in a large container of water, removing all that could be considered dirt from its body before being hung out to have any residual liquid dried out from its being before it would once more be put somewhere until its time once more came to be that it would rest in easy access in order to be able to be used with some form of convenience, whether it were to be pickling up something in some manner, or stopping the spread of something forcefully ejected from a body of flesh and bone.

And of course then that ejection would be captured only to be broken down at some stage and released into water, then  led to somewhere else where it would become even smaller matter and who even knows as to what would happen from there?

The sun would play a hand in this process, but only at times. There would be forms of winds that would also lend their assistance at stages as they passed through the fine, almost microscopic gaps in the fabric that would, over time, gradually grow bigger and bigger until the fabric was more visible holes than it was something without.

And the cycle continues, of course, as for the longest time that is how it has always been, and for the longest time ahead that is how it will be.

It merely repeats in some form of routine. Almost like a dance that seems natural, but at the same time almost completely devoid of anything that could possibly indicate something akin to expression, for it is merely going through the motions until there is some form of need of change that will lead to a shift that is unnoticed.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:26:94

Something borne from… I dunno… basic routine maybe?

I don’t know what to say about this text.

Written at work.

Spreading out Across the Sky

Walking along the Cooks River and I had the opportunity to get this shot and so get this shot is what I did, and now you are able to view it as it is here, as opposed to not here.

Probably could’ve been lighter. Probably.

I think there’s some nice colours and tones in the clouds.

I like that, partly in thanks to the ground area, they appear to be really massive in a way that seems to imply that they’ll engulf everything.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 535: Back to Earth

Looking out, looking over the perceived infinite distance and the racer goes off on their own adventure, toward the earth, hurtling as though they hadn’t ever moved before in their life and then suddenly were jolted into a form of being aware of their very pwn physicality.

And of course the heat was getting to them, but after the panic had gone, they were aware of how little they could alter their own situation and thus tried to at the very least accept that this was something that they could do nothing about and thus let themselves find some sort of peace.

It was all vast and infinite in front of them and they approached the earth quite quickly, but at the same time it seemed so slow.

The earth was massive. It was easy to perceive as such on the ground, but from all the way up there, beyond the atmosphere, it was so much easier to understand and realise. As such, it was awe-inspiring.

There was still plenty of oxygen to carry them for a while, but there was every chance that they were going to run out before the oxygen did. The heat built up around them and they began to feel as though they were being seared. The pain was creeping in but they still admired the view ahead and it seemed that, in some form, the pain was something that was feeling more like a sharp, pointed memory more than it was something that was present.

There were so many what ifs and whys and hows, but they were all now irrelevant. Other people would have to deal with those now. It was no longer their business, for they had now been freed from all forms of responsibility that would extend beyond this moment in time.

They no longer had to worry. Still, it was difficult to remain calm. The stress and the sheer terror of the situation had sunk in not with a slow approach, but with what felt like a sudden action.

At least, it was difficult initially.

The pain became something less indistinct and slowly reached out to become something so much more. It began to tear and pull at their being as the heat kept a steady increase. Yet they still held on, somehow. It brought them back to being within themselves and took them out of what they were trying to battle, and as such the terror slowly melted away the farther they moved toward the blue planet.

Massive continents only partially visible from where they were. They fell farther and farther, no control over what they could do. Space was massive and infinite, and as they seemed to dissipate and disintegrate they became awash with feelings of wonder and amazement.

Further and further their descent continued and more and more they seemed aflame, but none of it mattered.

To them, they could see something more massive than themselves.

The view for them was vast and wonderful. It was beautiful.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 10:47:83

Kind of slow.

I think that, had I not limited myself to five-hundred words I could have made this something a bit better. I feel like I rushed toward the end.

Power Pole During Last Light

As seen in suburbia.

The cables and the power pole cut into the sky and appear more as their silhouette rather than as their actual form. At the same time, it is clear that they are what they are.

I like how the cables spread out. Far away from a source, but in a clearly linear fashion.

I think that the muted colours of the sky and clouds work well. There is a clear contrast but there isn’t much of a clash.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 534: Many a Time

Once more racing the clock. Trying to reach the end of it all and yet I don’t know where the end even begins, but that shall not stop me on my endeavour to be the very best, like someone who was better than I at some stage of my life. You know how it all goes, or something to similar effect.

Sitting here is something that I have done many a time, as opposed to sitting there, which is something that I have done very little of, but that’s the way the dice fall from the hand and into the sockets of the world.

Sometimes the socks go on the feet rather than the feet into the socks. It’s all about achieving the feats of strength, but sometimes you need to have a little bit of grace and tact when you do all of the above and none of the other.

Then you think about your mother and how you were produced and then when reaching into the signs that allow the boards of boarding to board the boards of cardboard, you see the drape fall and into the recesses of the holographic lithography into a dancing sinewy etude of sorts, as it seems and so on and so forth until the music surely does stop and look at your face and onto the discovery board for all that is and was and shall be, but at another time, of course.

And what is that other time? It is the time in which you shall see, but you will not see for all you can hear is all that you were and all that you are leads only to what you could be, but in order to reach the best you need to think of your mother from another brother and lead the twisting of the contortion down the dancehall of the muses.

Surely the pigs may be jealous, but pigs being pigs shall dream of the day when their lofty aspirations carry them along with wings of lead over dormant seas, but if the insolvencies prevent them from doing such a thing, then they still can dream as much as they want and still work to achieve all of their goals in another way.

Now, this of course ignores the views of the heron which only dreams in tessellations. It is a bird of most bird-like appearance, but then again so is the fish to the ox as the cat is to the bovine’s preaching.

That is, of course, to say, that with enough commas, you may destroy a sentence and its structure, but then again who cares when the marmalade sky watches the sun fall down and past the horizon, thus leading to it leaving for the day to try and care for the sun once more?

Who is really to say that not all of this could go within the hands of just some person who sits and does little else than eat their thoughts through writing?

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:36:84

So I’m fairly confident with my speed.
I need to work more on the flow and getting things a bit more consistent.

I think that this is based more off of image than anything else.

Ongoing Development in Town Hall’s Shadows

Taken whilst walking through the city during one recent morning.

I like the strong contrast from the shadows and I also like how there’s a few different styles of “Architecture” in the shot.

I also like how the development kind of changes the scene in a sense.

I’m sharing this photo as part of The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week is hosted by Amy and next week’s will be hosted by Tina.

I hope you enjoy.

One Cleans the Other

A photo of two rock doves.

Taken around the same time as the other two recent bird photos.

I think that this is a nice, pleasant a small photo.

It’s a small thing that’s happening and as such it feels more relaxed to me.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s photo challenge.

The theme this week is “feathers”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 533: Diatribe Regarding Sand Dunes

I do not have much time and I feel the need to write and yet I have nothing that I can think of that would be worth writing about, so let’s go with the wall and see what sticks.

I was going to write about a chair before, but it was taking too long and it felt a little too thought out and now I have an itch that I need to scratch, but I cannot reach it as if I stop, then I will be in a position to slow down and slowing down is not what I want to do today. I want to race and keep on going and make sure that I get something of value out into the air and watch it float away and off into the hills where it will settle.

Maybe it will lead to some plants that will help rejuvenate the area. Maybe it will lead to plants that will help rejuvenate the sand dunes that need to be rejuvenated, for removing them exposed us to more coastal hazards.

People who think sand dunes are some form of eyesore and should be removed can go fuck right off, as far as I’m concerned. You don’t like nature? Tough. It’s here to stay and you can go and take your antiquated, backward view and shove it. Nature is far more important than your pretentious, high and mighty ass and your insane sense of entitlement does little else other than shit on nature as you continue to try and impose yourself upon it.

Then again, keep pushing to remove the sand dunes and hopefully your place will be washed away with the next large storm. Maybe then you’ll learn why they are important to keep.

There are a lot of things that are important for nature and us to function, and yet we continue to trample upon them. Help bring back nature. Stop shitting on it. It’s more important than any of us.

Actually, maybe that is why we continue to destroy it as much as we can. We’re insecure as we are not as important as we’d like to believe and so we continue to desecrate and destroy as much as we can in order to make ourselves important.

Anyway, leave the damn sand dunes as they are, and the ones that have been removed… well, help restore them back to a natural state.

Erosion cannot be prevented, but it can be mitigated. Sand dunes are an important part of the ecosystem as they help protect everything behind them. Stop pushing to have them removed just because you don’t like the sight of them. You can have your expensive house near the beach protected because they’re there, you fool.

Obviously not everyone has this attitude, but there are far too many out there who think that nature is something that is beneath them and it irks me.

If anything, we are beneath nature as we keep thinking that it’s something to remove.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:47:08

I think that it’s interesting as to how I switched to talking about sand dunes.

Kind of interesting as to how drastic that switch was.
