A Pelican

A photo of a pelican.

This was taken recently whilst walking through Centennial Parklands.
I feel that I was really lucky to be able to get as close as I did.

I didn’t have my 70-200 with me so I slowly approached the pelican, hoping that it wouldn’t attack.
I don’t know if pelicans become aggressive, so my not being attacked was a relief.

I guess not being attacked at any stage of life is a relief.

I think that this image might be a little too dark, but I do like the way the shadow of the pelican is emphasised.

I like the shape and form of the pelican contrasting with the area.
I also like how the muted, yet “colourful” area contrasts with the colour of the pelican.

This is my submission into the first Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
This challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti of https://pilotfishblog.com/

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya of https://lagottocattleya.wordpress.com/

Week 3 – Amy of https://shareandconnect.wordpress.com/

Week 4 – Tina of https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/

This week is hosted by Tina and next week’s will be hosted by Patti.

I suggest following and considering participating, but also seeing how other people have responded to the photo challenge from The Daily Post ending.

Anyway, I hope you  enjoy.

Monday is a Wonderful Thing

Of sense, there is none, or that is at least what I just thought to myself, but as it floats off like things we perceive as floating, it is gone, away from my grasp, unless it decides to float back once more.

There are days, there are years, there are decades. There are hours, there are minutes, there are seconds.

There are multiple ways of doing certain things, and yet the things that we do are usually done in one way, for it needs to suit the way we do the thing, despite there possibly being more efficient ways of doing certain things that we indeed do.

My arms are sore, but that is irrelevant right now, for this is the price that I pay for doing some of the things that I do indeed do.

Thoughts pass on by through the mind and off to somewhere else. Perhaps they get deconstructed in order to build new thoughts that float on by. Perhaps.

It is a consideration that is probably not worth considering.

Monday’s are weird.

Wait.

People complaining about Monday is weird.
“It’s the start of the week, oh no, the week is too long, arg”, and so on.
It’s another day that we experience and people seem to dread that to some extent as it’s not some arbitrary point in the somewhat-determinate future, and yet this is something that they cannot wrap their head around for people choose to live for the weekend where they likely won’t do as much as they think they will do. Instead of maximising the time they have away from their jobs, they put as much off as they can until the weekend where the same issues that are usually “preventing” them from doing anything during the week are still in effect.

Monday is a wonderful thing, I think.

Well, that seems like a most natural conclusion.

A Short Set

So it finally happened.

Someone decided that it was a good idea to let me anywhere near a stage and play my own, ego boosting music.

I got there far too early, but I wanted to be punctual, so punctual I was.

There were a many number of bands that played before I took to the stage. That number was five. Not all of them were bands. In fact, you could say that there was only one band, a duo and three solo artists.

I was on just before the final band of the night. The band that was support cancelled, then reneged on their cancellation which is something that I was miffed by (as well as some others). If you cancel, that should be the final line. Their choosing to renege pushed everything further back than it had been had they not cancelled in the first place.

Anyway, they were missing a kick pedal which they got someone to get for them (or procure another kick pedal from somewhere else), which of course allowed them to save the day for themselves.

This meant that unfortunately my time was cut short, but I wasn’t going to be on for too long anyway (originally ten minutes, reduced to five) and it didn’t affect my ability to perform.

What affected by performance was my forgetting lines and certain changes. It was a most wonderful thing that was a thing that occurred to me, as it were, or so they say, and so on.

It would be fair to say that I screwed up a fair bit.

It was my time to shine, I did it, screwed up and I’m fine with that. I can’t do anything abut the mistakes at this stage and I wasn’t embarrassed. To be honest, I was happy to have the opportunity and I was happy to play something that was my own music.

Besides which, I also go from somewhat-tense, to noisy and abrasive, and then to calm and ambient in a brief period of time, which is fine by me.

Clouds Below

During the flight back to Sydney, this was a photo that was taken.

I think that this photo is relaxing, but then again most photos of this ilk are relaxing.

Not much else to say.

I hope you enjoy.

Sparrow Upon a Branch

This was taken at the same location as the Rakali.

There were a few sparrows, although we only saw one at a time.
They would look at the food, fly to it when the Rakali were absent and take some for themselves.

Here’s one of the sparrows looking at the food.
I like how well it seems to blend with the surrounding environment.

I also like that you can see that it is interested in something out of frame.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 480: Too Simple, Really

So I sit and I wait for the start top start, as this is another day of work and I am here, present and ready, yet there are other things to do.

Perhaps I shall find a way to tunnel through the walls and slowly make my way elsewhere, but if the ground gets in the way then I just go under it in order to continue my commute of self-design, unless there are other options to pursue.

These always lead to certain questions that I cannot comprehend, but so long as the orange sits on top of the peak whilst students belt the howling through the sky toward the moon, then surely I will be able to resist the temptation of nodding my head more than once, as more than once is far too much when it is only required to nod one’s head once.

Simple things amuse the day.

The day simply amuses the simple things.

It’s all too simple, really.

So now that I’ve got that out of the way, I need to see how many wombats can parachute through a panache on the heads of the hats that are sitting on the chairs.

As they chatter, they surely are not talking about what concerns them for they do not want to discuss what it is that is pressing and important and would much rather find a way to break the tedium, yet the air is so thick it is fog.

That also has a lot to do with temperatures and condensation.

This must be remembered as something that is contributing to the situation at hand.

Perhaps there is nothing to consider at all, and yet they chatter and the shoes laugh at the absurdity of the situation.

There is no TEA to be had at this gathering, and yet one day there will be, so long as the clouds keep on drifting by and watching the earth as it spins itself into another place in time, yet somehow remains static as we perceive static to be.

There is no real way of telling these things, or there is, but now is not the time for the trees are a uprooting and planting themselves into the ocean. Well, its surface. The ocean now has hair in the form of trees and there is no way of telling where the hair will be. Perhaps it has to do with the salinity. There is no way of telling, and yet the only way to tell is by telling these things. One would have to use the art of telling in order to tell. This may involve the use of eyes. Not always your own. Could be someone else’s.

But then again,. perhaps the rooting would appear in the soils and the mountains would rise their lofty peaks and shake them in anger as though they were fists to shake at the heavens. They would, however, remain immobile, for mountains watch the time pass them by.

They watch for eternities.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:57:99

This I’m satisfied with as it embodies the push toward stream-of-consciousness writing I’ve been trying to do a bit better than other rambling posts.

It’s also wonderfully stupid.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 479: Tired, Stuff, Ramblings

Oh man, feeling so tired and yet so good for some reason or another reason that I am not entirely sure of, or something to that effect if you catch my drift and so on and so forth, so to speak, sometimes but not always and occasionally on the regular process of going to and not going from.

This is kind of a gig review, but very informal as I don’t feel like sitting down reviewing a gig at the moment.

Last night I was at S.I.C.K.O to do the photography and see a project born from the mind of a friend come to fruition for the second time.

It was good.

The act before them was not so good. Neither was the act before them.

Overall the night was enjoyable, so that should account for something.

Got some great photos and now I’m here at work on a Monday. This is something that is quite surprising, I know.

Tired, need to process photos, need to get stuff done, need to work on the working of things, need to keep on going and go forward and do more with my time and keep on getting to somewhere else that is not here but elsewhere.

Wait, what?

Anyway, the gig was enjoyable despite two artists I found to be lackluster. It probably helps that my friends’ project was more in the vein of things that I enjoy, and to be fair to the other two, they were good for what they were. I felt it could have been stronger.

Well, with that out of the way what else can this be about?

It can be about anything that I want it to be about, so long as I want it to be about something and yet I will probably narrow down to a few tricks that I keep pulling out of the same bag for the bag is full of the tricks that I have repeatedly used and put back in, so there needs to be an outward push toward something else that will lead to a slight tilt of everything that is and was and will be.

Either that or I just need to become a better write so that I can express things in a less simplistic, more effective manner, unless the effective nature comes from the simplicity, in which I just need to improve the effective nature of the writing.

Either that or I’m just looking for excuses to fill the void that is before me, trying to tell me that I need to do something more than churn out rubbish, junk, refuse among other ephemera, assuming that any of what I am writing can be considered as such.

Perhaps I should jump into the void and see where it leads and takes me. Maybe it will take me to the phones again in which I shall find myself expressing things that I have continually expressed.

Maybe I just need to get ready to start my shift.

Maybe.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:59:03

I think that this is okay.
Decent flow but maybe not silly enough.

Written at work.

Departure at Southern Cross

A photo of people leaving the train.
This was taken at Southern Cross Station.

My partner and I were heading back to where we were staying.
We had been visiting some of my family.

I guess that this photo does a good job of showing people in motion during what would be one of the many “Everyday Moments” for them.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 478: A Little Cool

Sunday is the day of the sun, or something to that effect.

Two of my fingers are a bit numb from doing things that involve instruments and strings.

Yes, that’s right; I was dealing with instruments that just so happen to have strings.

Well, how’s that for an introduction?

It’s a little cool, but that’s not deterrent from the things that need to be taken care of this fine day of days, as it were.

I know that there will be things to do as I leave the place of residence and step outside to embrace the world as it is and walk forward toward a goal that has been set for tackling, for the tacking of the goal must occur in order for the goal to be progressed and therefore have more goals progress forward as the one goal gets completed, leading to more goals of the possibility of begin achievable, and yet I am writing really slowly this morning as I’ve been a lazy person who has not kept up their regular process of churning out unacceptable trash and for that I am truly sorry, but sometimes you need to slow things down a little in order to pick back up once more, or that is at least what I am going to tell myself for I am living in a fantasy land.

Now, where was I going to go with this?

I’m not entirely sure.

So, today there will be the process of taking the photos and doing the things that lead to taking the photos. There may be study. There will be rehearsing. There will be other things that lead to other, other things. Overall there will be process followed and following those processes will lead to some sort of completion of many a thing by the end of the day, I hope.

Either that or the day will continue, I’ll grow bored and by the end of everything I’ll be wishing to go back home and lie in bed and not think about things other than reading my book which will be something that I do not do for I’ll get into bed and then pass out.

Then there shall be the act of sleeping in which I shall sleep and maybe remember my dreams when I wake up the following morning and perhaps write them down for all to read, if that does indeed happen.

It can be a difficult thing to tell sometimes, but that is the way that the log rolls when it is going down a hill at a fast pace and you cannot keep up with the log as it’s going too fast and you don’t want to injure yourself by going too fast as you might lose your footing so you can only watch as the log rolls down the hill at a speed that is far too fast for you to be able to do anything about it, so you should stop running.

I think I should eat.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:32:79

Could be much better, but there’s a nice flow to the thing.

The Flight Back

On the flight back from Melbourne I took a number of shots from the window.
I’m not sure what specifically was causing it but most of the shots would have a slight colour warp in certain parts.

Here’s a photo that serves as a photo of the wing of a plane over the land and the clouds.

It works as a contrast to the photos of the wing whilst heading to Melbourne.

The sunset is soft but distinct and adds a bit of depth to the photo.

I hope you enjoy.
