Late Afternoon Sun Touches the Rock Face

I thought I posted this photo here already, but I can’t seem to locate it, so I guess I haven’t.

Here’s a photo I took whilst on my solo camping trip.

I like how the sunlight highlights the details on the rock face

I also like how calm the shot feels.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 151: No Hot Air

I was going to write another post about learning and students (one focusing on treatment), but I think I’ve run out of hot air and am only left with a cool breeze right now, which is as good as it is bad.

It’s good because it means that I’ll probably be a little less angry which will mean less ranting.

It’s bad because I want to rant more and, whilst I can usually work myself up into some sort of passionate diatribe that goes on endlessly about things that don’t matter as much as I think they do, I really don’t feel like doing so right now and that makes me angry.

It’s completely unjust.

I should be able to rant whenever the hell I want and always feel like it, but there’s not enough making me angry right now to make something like that happen.

There really needs to be more out there that makes me angry instead of only certain things sometimes, leaving me to feel somewhat placid most of the time, because then I could easily rant so much more than I already do.

Ranting from me is something that is amazingly beneficial and I will argue this to the ends of the earth because people need to know why and how and when and where, and all the other things that they need to know that assist in making my completely justified, sensible and understandable ranting as special as it absolutely happens to be, because it is very, brilliantly special.

Oh, so very, very much.

But, with all of that being said, perhaps I will run out of things to rant about and then be left as a quiet voice among a sea of yelling, being pulled away and pushed around, only occasionally having some calm, trying to strike upon the opportunity given to me but not being able to as I will very quickly be drowned out and thus left to remain quiet once more.

It really is a sad, tragic, and sad situation that I find myself in and that really makes me angry.

It’s so agonisingly unfair and I can’t believe I have to put up with feeling of not feeling like going off on a lengthy tangent that may or may not lead anywhere.

What’s even worse is that I don’t think I’ve even enough steam to get this finished.

There’s no hot hair warming the water within me today and it’s not going to do.

Perhaps I should put myself on the stove and then complain about stoves being too hot.

I don’t know if that really would be a good idea, but there is only one way to find out, so I’ll see if I can get one of my housemates to do it for me, and then report back with the results.

It shouldn’t be too bad and hopefully the results will be filled with interesting data that may infer things about what happens.

Perhaps then, I could rant.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:38:63

I really tried to pull something out of nothing with this one, but… meh.

Departing Otford Station

Here’s a photo I took on Tuesday.
It’s a photo of a train that is departing Otford Station, traveling south to other stations, picking up and dropping off passengers at various locations and so on.

I like the way that the train looks in this one; a long blur that fades near the front.

I also like that I was able to get it like this whilst taking the photo in (mostly) full daylight.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.
This one was themed, with the theme being “Travel”.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 150: Empty Ranting About Lecturers

Right now, I’m wondering why some lecturers are viewed as being really good and some are viewed as being utterly crap.

I think I have an idea as to why this is.

A lecturer’s goal is to successfully assist in the passing on of knowledge to people who are there to learn.
Well, this is what I believe that their goal is. I could be entirely incorrect.

I imagine that a lot of them might just treat it as another part of a job that they need to complete, whereas other treat it as something that will help a future generation of graduates get somewhere in life by discovering what they do and don’t want to do when they get through a few years of study.

Sometimes lecture information can be really dense and sometimes it’s quite light and easy to understand.

A good lecturer will take their time in getting through the information but, if for some reason they need to get through it quickly, they’ll at least say so, because a good lecturer will understand that not everyone learns things at the same rate as each other and that it is likely that the majority of the people attending lectures will be learning the things they are learning about for the first time (with the majority also probably being out of school only recently), and are possibly trying to adjust to this “new” way of obtaining information.

A good lecturer’s slides will be something that can looked over and not leave someone feeling too confused.

A bad lecturer will rush through everything as much as possible, not seeming to care that they’re meant to be teaching people, cramming as much as possible in because they’ve used too many words, have poor slides and may leave people feeling overwhelmed far too often. They don’t seem to understand that they’re teaching people with (what is usually the case) significantly less experience in the subject than the lecturer, leaving many students to have to work harder due to circumstances that are a bit more beyond their control; circumstances that could have easily been improved upon had the lecturer actually put a bit more effort into understanding that they’re working with people who need to have a more solid base to build off instead of having far too much information thrown at them at once and then seemingly expected to understand what it is that they’ve just learned about, causing problems down the track as, if they don’t have enough time to understand everything, it could cause their grades to suffer.

I wouldn’t say that students aren’t accountable for a lack of understanding, because some have more than enough time to learn and procrastinate far more than they should and they can only blame themselves for whatever consequences that may have.

However, there are plenty of lecturers who need to learn more about how to give a lecture because they aren’t about rushing through a lot of information as quickly as possible.

Slower than I hoped.
Such is the way of things when i comes to empty ranting.

Anhinga novaehollandiae

Here’s a few shots of an Australian Darter preening itself.

I took these on Thursday.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a cormorant.

I like the angles of its head and neck in these photos.

I think it makes for an interesting view.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 149: Employment Termination

As mentioned yesterday, I haven’t felt like writing much recently, due to crap in life.

However, I feel the need to write as it’s been far too many days without something that is word-based put here, so, despite how much I don’t feel like writing about anything involving my life right now, I’m going to write about it because at least I’m still writing something and putting it here.

Last week I lost my job.
It wasn’t due to a lack of performance or my being who I am.
They liked me and were happy with my work.

I’m relieved with that.

My employer and I parted ways on good terms and that’s the most that anyone could ask for when it comes to a simple employment termination.

However, it left me very concerned about earning an income (surprising, I know).

The major issue for me is that it’s getting close to a time where it’s difficult to get ongoing work beyond temporary roles.

I was able to get something for this week, but that doesn’t get me much time and it still leaves me worries about what I’m going to do after.

On top of this, I have final exams coming up.

Oddly enough, after Friday, I wasn’t feeling like it was a lot of pressure anymore, but, of course, that could all change.

On the plus side, I do have an interview tomorrow. It’s also temporary work, but it will carry me through to the end of January and that’s more than I can hope for in the short term.

The idea is, I guess, to remain as positive as I possibly can and just keep pushing forward, but I have to admit to myself that I am working with only a little amount of time, so I have to keep on keeping on and make sure that I land something a bit more permanent at the the end of the temporary work whilst doing the best job that I can in the work that I may obtain.

Whilst I’m not feeling the pressure of the situation right now, it’s still rather unpleasant and something that I don’t feel like dealing with right now.

Still, if everything happened when I wanted it to, then that would not make for an interesting (or challenging) life and I think that, at the end of the day, I prefer having to deal with things as they happen.

I am hoping very much that I do get the job, but if not, then I shall send out many, many applications after the interview, spreading my web of… applications… to every place I can possibly apply for, hopefully leading to the landing of a job that I will be able to do to the best of my ability, assuming my ability allows me to do the best that it can allow me to do, because that would be very beneficial to me.

It’s not a pleasant situation, but I will get through it with success.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 09:28:42

Decent speed.

Well, back to whatever it is that I do when I don’t do the things that I do most of the time.

Ship and Ferry

So I was going to write something tonight but I don’t feel like writing or doing much else right now, so instead, here is a photo that I took on Thursday.

There’s nothing great about it, but I think it’s nice enough.

I hope you enjoy.

Red Flowers

Here’s a shot I took whilst at university.

It’s my submission for the photo challenge from The Daily Post this week.

The theme is “Transmogrify” this time.

I thought that the flowers here fit in as, in a (loose) way, the flowers are part of the plant changing in some way.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Fence

Whilst Ewe and I were in the Royal National Park heading to Bundeena, we came across an area that had a fence around it.

There was some theorising about why the fence was there, but it didn’t lead to a solid answer and we didn’t try to find out.

There’s not much for me to say about why I like this photo.

I think it’s pleasant enough and everything is proportioned fairly well.

This is my entry into Leanne Cole‘s Monochrome Madness for this week.

You should go check out what other people have submitted, as well as Leanne’s photography.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Clouds Over the Megalong Valley

A photo that was taken during my solo camp a few months ago.

I think the clouds look really massive, as well as how some of them look ominous.

I like how the shadow seems to engulf the valley.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.
