Angular Geological Structure

Technically you could say the same about any geological structure, but I’m using the title here as in this image the angles are heavily emphasised.

This structure has been impacted by human activity, but I do like the result. You still get an idea of this being old rock and you can see some mineral seepage throughout its being.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 543: Yet Again, Back on the Bike Once More

It had been almost three months since my last time on a bike.

Almost three months to the date.

Well, today I hopped onto the bike and prevented that from becoming a reality.

It had been far too long, much like the ride and it was something that, like always, I had missed.

The first “half” went well. I moved with a grace and speed that I do not normally get to move with and it was an easy thing for me to do. Didn’t get tired, didn’t go too fast, didn’t go too slow. That sort of thing.

The second part involves a bit more working of the uphill. Whilst it was gradual, I was a much slower person in that time.

Cycling, I missed you. Don’t ever leave. I may be sore in the morning, but for now you are a good friend and I can curse you in the morning instead of right now.

I especially am fine with this as soon I will be making my way downhill. When I say soon, I of course mean within an hour or so, but in the grand scheme of things that is pretty soon and that is something that I am fine with at the moment.

I will once more be able to glide along with some sort of smoothness and my bike will carry me to my destination. I shall trust its ability to move when I use the power of my muscles and I will trust in its ability to get me around.

I just need to trust in my ability to cycle more than once every few months, which means that I need to trust in my ability to not be lazy about cycling, considering that it gets me everywhere faster than public transport seems to be able to.

Of course there are situations where cycling is not practical, and I don’t like that it reduces the amount of time that I have to read, but I do much prefer it as a form of transport overall.

Less money being spent, an easy form of exercise, and so on and so forth.

Perhaps soon though I should look at getting a new bike. Whilst I do enjoy the one that I’ve had for almost eight years, there comes a point where cycling a mountain bike everywhere starts to wear on the body a bit.

Maybe its just me that feels that way. I don’t know, to be honest. I do know though that my bike has served me well and, even though I’ve had to sink a bit of money into it, it has at this point more than paid for itself.

Cycling is really good. I think I’ve said that many a time, but I don’t think it can be overstated. I strongly believe that the benefits vastly outweigh the majority of things that could be seen as a negative.

But again, I need to stop being so lazy about it.

Cycling is fun.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:26:37

I thought too much on this one, but I think that it works well enough.

That said, perhaps I need to rethink cycling, or something.

Written at home.

Erosion Shapes

Some more erosion stuff.

I like that in geological structures, the erosion produces some interesting patterns and textures.

In this one I especially like that the erosion seems to invoke some sort of scene.

I think that it’s distinct enough to summon some sort of imagery in the mind, but ambiguous enough to be open to personal interpretation.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 542: Important Questions

There’s something…. well, something… about watching your hair fall out around you.

Actually, there’s not really anything about it unless it invokes insecurity and paranoia into your being of flesh and mind.

But there certainly is something to it.

What if, for instance, you watched as all your hair fell out over the progress of a day and then at the end of the day you were bald.

Say you woke up, full head of hair, all the hair drops out and then you are as shiny as the rest of the other people without hair. What then? What do you do?

Do you you embrace your genetic destiny and become the hero of the underrepresented, or do you you go on your merry way and slowly take over all that is righteous?

Do you choose a path that manages to subvert both of these options, or do you get on with life?

As you can see, I am asking all of the important questions today.

These are all important questions as… well, they just are. Do not question them.

What if your being bald is just your hair falling out to prepare for a new set of hair, possibly of a different style, but the head forgets to do what it needs to do in order to generate more hair, hence the baldness, but you somehow gain some other sort of new ability that is yet to be tapped into?

What does any of this have to do with anything?

It doesn’t, but at the same time it has everything to do with everything, for it is key to question all that which is in order to know that which is not.

What if all the hair that you lose is trying to return to the earth from whence it came and in resisting the battle between the receding hairline and the ego of the masses, you are denying the natural state of things and thus pushing for a more artificial, built world in which we deny the existence of nature, therefore denying the nature of reality?

What if we really are the masters of our own hair destiny?

There is just not enough time to go over all of the possibilities and I am merely a singular person struggling with trying to find out what is true and what is just.

There is no telling as to how just this really is, but I need to pursue the answers. Surely the hair must know in order to find out as to why it is so denied its ability to just be.

Then again, what if the hair is really trying to migrate to somewhere else and there is no such thing as going bald? What if it really is just a form of losing one’s citizens of their body as the hair has found somewhere else that is much more practical to be for their own safety and survival?

What if all head hair is just a covering?

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:32:56

This was partly inspired by my washing my hair this morning, followed by wearing a new beanie.

All rather important stuff.

The Space Around Sea Cliff Bridge

I think that I wanted to capture the sense of space around the bridge rather than the bridge itself.

I think that the sky helps to give a sense of minimalism to the scene.

It also helps to enhance the contrast between the land and the ocean.

To me, the photo feels more focused on atmosphere than it does detail.

I hope you enjoy.

Ripples in the Rock

A photo taken close to a waterfall.

I think that the patterns in this rock are interesting. I’m guessing that the formation of the ripples in the rock are from lava cooling, but it’s merely a guess.

I think that the ripples kind of look like water flow in a way.

I think that the different forms of erosion help to give a sense of depth to the photo.

I also think that the erosion helps to keep the photo varied without being cluttered.

This one is available as a print if you’re interested.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 541: Ramble Before Learning

It’s dark in here.

It is so dark that…. well, it’s not actually too dark. I can see as to what I am doing.

My pinky sticks out to the left on my left hand, and on the right, the pinky sticks out to the right. They seem to hover there in the air as my hands glide over the keyboard to make the words, almost as if they are some sort of control to make sure that my hands stay gliding on the air currents for as long as they need to, for the gliding is a thing that gets done quite often and this keyboard is smaller than what I am used to, although I am gradually getting used to it.

Realistically, I should turn on the motion lights, but I am lazy and want to sit here and would rather risk the eye strain than get up and do something about the lights. I would rather sit here in the dark and keep on beavering away than get up, move around for a bit and get the lights activated.

It is day the second of five in a sequential, continuous row, that I am here at university for a course known for it’s intense qualities, as we are being bombarded with information. Probably more information than what we’re used to receiving. A whole course in one week. It is intense and I am here as I thought it would be a good idea and I stand by my decision.

Well, I would stand. I would. I am sitting down, thus the idea of standing is little more than a metaphorical gesture that I am making. This is due to my sitting and my lack of desire to stand up in  the given moment.

I should stand though. I should stand and stretch my legs out and go for a walk to keep the blood pumping. If I got that done, then I imagine that I would have blood pumping a bit better in my legs, or so they say.

In the brief silence between songs I heard how loud the strikes of the keys happen to be and it was frightening in a way that should not be frightening.

Well, it was not, but I don’t have much to go on. There is something that I want to write about, but my thoughts… well, they’re not complex, but I want to make sure that I get them across clearly. It would be easy to go on a tangent, as seen here, and that is not something that I want to do regarding the subject that I want to cover. It is something that requires thought and I imagine that if I cover it as I am at the moment I will just go into a strong, hard rage and that is not something that I want to do right now.

Right now I want to sit down and not stand, but I may just have to anyway.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:43:16

I was a little too aware whilst doing this one and kind of fizzle a bit of the way in.

Was not a good thing.

Oh well.

Gull’s Form

I thought I shared this earlier, but apparently I didn’t.

Another Silver Gull doing a thing.

Perhaps it is stretching.

I like the way the wing kind of hides the body, but also kind of doesn’t.

I think it adds a small amount of ambiguity to the image.

I hope you enjoy.

Breaking Waves Consume the Shoreline

During my recent road trip I was afforded the opportunity to get this shot.

The waves breaking on the shoreline was, in the light from the overcast sky, quite beautiful.

I think that there’s some interesting textures in this shot.

The lighter colours help to differentiate the water’s forms as well as help to define the form of the rocks pretty well.

I like that the whitewater almost appears to be moving away from the rocks rather than breaking around them.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Conveyor Belt and Staircase

This conveyor belt hasn’t been used in a while.

I guess that that’s readily apparent.

Here a scene is presented where the interior of a building has reached a dilapidated state.
That said, it still stands strong.

I think that the light casts the two main objects into focus well.

This is a place that has a lot of “History“, but most of it is quite small and uneventful in a sense.

Still, for a few, there would be a strong personal history in the place.

I’m sharing this photo as part of The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week is hosted by Patti and next week’s will be hosted by Leya.

I hope you enjoy.
