It took me a while to work out which way the train was going after I processed this photo, as I forgot.
I like that you can’t really tell as to what direction the train is heading as it adds a layer of ambiguity to the photo.
I like how this photo is lit as well as how it is framed.
I don’t think it was intentional to have the photo framed this way.
It was getting pretty dark at this point but you can still see some of the blue in the sky.

After reuniting a few years ago, Slowdive have released Slowdive, their first album in a while.
Slowdive were a band that were part of shoegazing… and so on.
Review begins now.
The songs move between soft and somewhat noisy whilst sounding consistently light, airy and relaxed. Sometimes the songs feel as though they are influenced more by ambient sounds and sometimes they feel more influenced by rock. However, they all sound very much like pop songs, or at least what Slowdive think makes for pop. This works well in favour of the album, giving it a sense of cohesion and progression.
Vocals are usually understandable despite feeling more like their purpose was for the sound rather than the delivery of words. They work well as another element of the music, seeming as though a lot of thought went into how they fit into the songs rather than the other way around. This extends to when when there’s complete clarity of the lyrics, which also come across as though there was a fair bit of work on them.
Whilst the music is decent enough, it is let down by the production.
It’s good enough to allow the music to shine where it needs to and there’s a good deal of clarity, but it seems that the record was made to sound as though it was made in the nineties.
It could either be the style of the songs or the actual production work itself. Either way, it unfortunately leaves the record sounding dated in a way that’s detrimental as it seems as though it’s a conscious attempt to recapture the sound of an era that the songs are somewhat removed from, harming how they sound and leaving a feeling that perhaps Slowdive might have played it a little too safe.
Slowdive’s Slowdive does have some problems, but it does work well as a record.
It could have turned out quite poorly.
To the credit of the band, it doesn’t.
Just before taking photos of the sunset at Iron Cove I took this picture.
I like the curvature of the light lines, as well as how they sit in the air.
I think that there’s a busy and quiet element to the photo, when comparing the traffic to the sky.
I also like how there’s a colour shift in the sky.

The 370 is a mythical bus that is spoken of in legend. It is known to follow what may be seen as a lengthy and sometimes complex route and only dreamed of making an appearance.
Ewe saw a 370 once. It was some time between 10:30 P.M. and 11:00 P.M. as he was walking home.
The 370 is meant to finish at around 8:00 P.M.
It was a moment befitting of its reputation as a consistently late bus that is so unreliable you can quite often walk a fair distance and catch another bus that will get you to your destination sooner and get there in the time it would take to wait for one at the bus stop that you go to in order to catch it, assuming that it hasn’t been cancelled for some reason, as there are times that the 370 adamantly refuses to make an appearance.
It has been known to completely disappear.
Normally I would not write about this bus route because there’s not much that can really be said at this point and I don’t know if there is anything that I can add to the conversation.
However, being in a position where you have to wait thirty minutes before it bothers to shows up has a way of making you disgruntled.
I’ve seen it written that it goes on a route that runs through a lot of traffic lights and traffic. I don’t think that’s a good enough excuse as there’s plenty of bus routes that have the same issue and still manage to run on time far more frequently.
I also don’t think it’s an excuse when it’s the first 370 of the morning and it still runs late by more than ten minutes, which is something that has happened to me (among others) more than once.
I think it’s incredibly poor service and if the route is indeed the issue, then the route needs to be changed.
I’ve read that State Transit (or Sydney Buses, or whatever they’re called at the moment) are working to improve the bus times, but it would seem that the 370 bus times aren’t improving. Perhaps the times for other routes are improving and the governing body hopes that it will somehow average out so that they can try and ignore the 370.
I think that people should keep on complaining about the service. As said before, it might be that the route needs to change. It doesn’t need to be drastic if it is indeed a problem with the lights and traffic that it supposedly has to deal with (especially the ridiculously heavy traffic at 6:15 A.M. in the morning that brings everything to a standstill that supposedly exists), because, whilst it might be one route that some people have to deal with, it is still a route that needs to be improved in some manner if this is a continuing, ongoing issue.
It needs to be addressed as token gestures indicating some sort of investigation do not really count as resolving a fairly large hole.

Slower than I thought this would take, but to be fair, something.
On a side note to this, there are two buses that stop very close to where I live. They too have issues with running on time in the middle of the day when there’s little traffic and they too sometimes disappear, leaving people to wait with no idea of what is happening.
Complaining about a bus in the inner west might seem a bit like an inconsiderate thing considering that other areas with less options need a greater amount of improvement. However, I have problems with understanding how whoever manages the public transport in Sydney can improve the transport system in any area if they can’t manage to resolve or at least improve on the issues of a continuously late bus route.

Here’s a shot that I took on Monday.
I wanted to capture Iron Cove during the sunset, so I did.
Another shot where the sunset was not as strong as I had hoped and am still happy with the result.
I think this captures how quiet Iron Cove can seem. It doesn’t feel like there’s much around that’s moving about. It feels almost still.
I do like the softness of the colours in the second image, as well as their vibrancy in the first.

It is night, the time of the darkness across the land and the time of the sleeping that is required for the resting in fullness in order to be as well-rested in the morning as possible in order for us to be able to tackle the day head on, or something.
It is now the time in which we enter the state that we are most vulnerable in in order to become recovered from the effort exerted over a period of time throughout the day.
Sleep is an awesome thing and it is something that I am looking forward to engaging in as I get to cover myself in blankets and sleep soundly for, at the least, a little while before I wake up in the morning and have a big stretch that leaves my limbs feeling much better than before.
Night is the time that some animals come out when others go away. It is a time for fine dining in the dark, romantic strolls with a darkened landscape as a backdrop, some areas losing their residential definition as they become not much else outside of a collection of lights, photographers of the astral variety coming out to take their photos of the wide, vast space, and so on.
Well, plenty of other types of photographers come out as well, as well as many other types of people.
The night is the period where we are in the shadow cast by the light of the sun not reaching that particular area due to that part of our wonderful planet facing away.
It seems to change the atmosphere and mood of any given area, although that might just be me reading too much into things, or perhaps not enough.
Night is a time of darkness that is no more or less scary than the day, depending on where you are. If you are in the middle of nowhere with no source of light of protection from the elements, then it might be much scarier than it needs to be as all you will have is pitch black. In the city it can be scary if you are alone and the area seems a bit creepy.
Night is a time that usually features the moon in the sky. Sometimes the moon is large. Yesterday it looked much larger than when it was a super moon. It was impressive in its size as it rose over Sydney Park, peaking from behind the trees at first before rising into the sky as gloriously as it could.
The moon and the night almost go together all the time. Sometimes the moon gets up a bit earlier and decides the peruse the morning (and on occasion, afternoon) sky instead. Perhaps it needs a change of scenery on the odd occasion.
The night is as beautiful as the day, although some might see it bland. Some might also see the day as being bland.
It’s their loss, as all times of the day are worth experiencing.

I was meeting up with an ex-work colleague last night.
I had some time to kill, so I took photos in Sydney Park before making my way to where we were meeting.
I was trying to capture the sunset over this pond, but the sunset wasn’t as strong as I hoped it would be.
Still, I’m happy with what I did capture.
I like how the land is “Reflecting” mostly clearly in the water. It almost looks like the sound wave of a song.
I also like how the colours came through in processing.

Well, I actually just took the shot with no voracity.
Anyway…
I like the pattern of the bare branches. They look both like roots and some weird system of veins to me.
I also like the contrast between them and the sky that came through during processing.

Recently some wonderful human being thought it would be a good idea to shove a pie in Alan Joyce’s face because Alan Joyce is using QANTAS to support the right for same-sex marriage.
It may be that he’s supporting it himself and happens to be in a position that some would consider powerful. I don’t know.
In any event, Alan Joyce copped a pie to the face and the person who did it gained a little bit of notoriety and the march of progress continues as it always has, leaving those with ideas of what marriage is and isn’t behind because to them only the institution of heterosexuality is one that matters.
Every time I see someone try to do something because they think the idea of same-sex marriage is wrong because it harms them, I get pissed off because all that these attitudes do is show that someone is an asshole that needs to hide behind ignorance or belief to justify their backward, asinine view.
What people do in their personal lives is none of your business unless they invite you to the conversation or you’re willing to learn about it and discover that people who do not have the same sexual orientation as you are not bad people in the slightest.
Admittedly, some of them are not good people but that’s beside the point. At the end of the day, they are no more or less a person than anyone else and to suggest that they should not be allowed to get married because of whatever reasons you think are appropriate is to suggest that they are not worthy of being considered equal.
Same-sex marriage only has an affect on those who want to get married to their partner of the same sex. Well, it should only affect them. It would seem that the majority of people who are affected by this are a bunch of people who are against it for some reason.
It doesn’t affect your ability to function. It doesn’t affect the sanctity of marriage that want to use as a weak excuse when it comes to your homophobic tendencies. It doesn’t hurt you.
Stop being so ignorant and learn.
There’s nothing wrong with people who are into the same sex. They are just as human as anyone else. I think it’s fair to say that there’s less wrong with them than most heterosexuals.
Now, whilst I don’t think the pie in Alan Joyce’s face was the right way to go about things, or agree with their views on the subject matter, I am not against the right of the person to say what they think.
The person should have every right to express their views in a more mature manner than this stupid act.
I think that people don’t understand that if you want freedom of speech, you have to give it to everyone and not just those that agree with your views. You have to be willing to allow people to speak who may cause great offense.
On the other hand, those that have ignorant views have to realise that there is a chance that they will have their views shot down and need to be open to learning.
The idea of the freedom of speech is one that seems to come with caveats for those that want to have regressive views silenced, which in a way is fair. Freedom from abusive crap is something that everyone should strive toward. However, that is not freedom of speech.
People need to start treating each other better. Stuff like this can be extended beyond the idea of same-sex marriage and people interested in the same sex.
Stuff like this usually leads to me asking the following:
If we can’t treat each other with some basic form of respect due to things that shouldn’t matter such as orientation and colour among other things that aren’t in our control, what hope do we have for treating the environment with any form of respect?
I took this shot whilst in an apartment.
It gave a good vantage point.
I like how the dirt of the window affected how the shot looks as it’s made the colour a bit more muted.
I like that the colour change looks to be smooth.
I also like the form of the bats as they make their way to their destination.
