This photo was taken during my recent drive from Melbourne to Sydney.
I was somewhere near Berremangra when the sun was setting and so I took what I felt was the best opportunity to stop and get photos of the sunset.
I like how the lighting feels soft here. Along with the stretch of shadow, it gives the image a quiet feel, I think. Despite appearances, that quiet feel creates a sense of the area being left alone.
This is my submission into the one hundred-and-fifty-second Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.
The theme for this one is “Shades and Shadows“.
The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:
Week 1 – Patti
Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya
Week 3 – Amy
Week 4 – Tina
Leya is curating this week’s challenge. Amy is curating next week.
I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.
I hope you enjoy.
Nice photo. I agree, soft, stretch of shadow, quiet feel. It zooms nicely too.

Glad you think so.
Not necessarily sure if I would call the drive nice. A lot of people seem to find it boring, dull and tedious. I didn’t find the drive too boring. There were a lot of things for me to see that appealed to me as a photographer as well as a person interested in science. I also spent a lot of the drive thinking.

The Hume was nearby and some of the vehicles moving along it could be heard, but there still was some sense of peace in the area.

A beautiful landscape scene, where light and shadows are dancing together in perfect rhythm.
