Five-Hundred Word Challenge 993: Gloom Worriers

As the heat once was, now it is less so and such is the way. Temperature of the past feels more like a memory than an actuality and maybe that’s the way that it should be. I don’t know as I’m not a weather scientist, but maybe that is the case.

Anyway, of course it means now that today is a different day, weather-wise, or something. It’s a little cloudier, though it was sunny earlier. Not so much anymore, but there still seems to be a hint of a slight warmth approaching and that’s fine.

A good thing the gloominess does not get in here, though it might just do so a bit later. I won’t bother to try and combat it as I’ve other things out there that I want to tackle and perhaps those things would involve the use of the gloominess as it permeates my area of which I currently exist within. There might be some combining of powers and all of that other stuff that sounds really cool and awesome.

Thus, the creation of the Gloom Worriers would occur and there would be no end to the adventures.

Not sure as to how much adventuring would actually occur, but that’s not something to think about at the moment. No, the only thing that needs considering is the full steam ahead stuff of which involves where they would go and how they would get there.

Of course I won’t think about it so let us just assume that there would be answers found along the way and then once those answers are found it would all make sense in some sort of logical fashion so long as the logic only applies to the events at hand.

Now a slight rumble of thunder and falling of water onto a surface that leads to the sound of the rainfall being obvious, but there is little rain. There is a lot of space between the drops, but it will pick up, and indeed already seems to be picking up. It’s almost pleasing. Almost. There probably are other, more pleasing things to hear at this current moment, but this being almost pleasing is alright. Still the gloom persists, however. Despite sounds indicating otherwise, the gloom persists and it casts a grey shadow across the morning. It stretches as far as it does wide and it consumes all that it does, but for only as long as it feels is important.

The Gloom Worriers probably would fight such a thing, though of course they would be aware that it would also be the thing that they draw their power from, thus creating a situation where there may be some sort of hesitancy, or something. There would be the questioning of what is right and wrong and all those other things, but I’m sure that there would be a solution eventually found where they would persist in the face of the destruction of their own ability, or something.

Then again, maybe they wouldn’t.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:11:98

This felt a bit bland to write and I think that really comes through.
Bits of this were based on what was happening at the time of writing, but it’s still very much fiction, I think.

Donkey From Memory

Seeing as I did Shrek from memory recently I felt it only fair to also do Donkey from memory.

This was worked on yesterday during a livestream.
I was hoping to have this done in thirty minutes at most.
It ended up being two hours and forty minutes.

I hope you enjoy.

More of the Northern Water Feature

This was taken back in June on the same day as these photos.
This one was taken a little over a week later.

I feel as though this is a peaceful scene of more of The Northern Water Feature.
A good portion of what is visible feels still and perhaps quiet.

I think rendering this in monochrome worked out for the best. It brought out more of the tone and made the image less harsh on the eyes.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-sixty-fifth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Going Wide“.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is curated by Patti. The next one is curated by Leya.

I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 992: Obligation Holds

Late start. Not what I intended, but this is the hand that I am dealing myself and this is the and that I will play to myself.

I want to get up and dance, but obligation holds me in place and so there will be no getting up for a little while, at least. Well, that is until I need to get up which will be soon. Oh, how I look forward to getting up and stretching my legs and doing some things followed by some more things. It will be an exciting time and I will feel alive, or at least something. Something will be felt. Not sure what that something is and don’t care to find out until the event that is standing up and walking away occurs.

Maybe it will be an exceptional need to go to the bathroom, but that is something that I will worry about when I get there. For now what everything is is focusing on what is in front of me and doing the things and engaging in a range of motions so as to be able to fulfill duties as required by me to ensure my survival continues, but of course that all too is stuff to worry about at another point in time.

Right now I sit here and I sit here and wait for things to happen and engage in the range of motions and then look at things. Sometimes I shake my head and sometimes I swear, but it’s a good time had by all, if by all I mean me, and by good time I mean endurance test. Still, these things come and go and shift around and form things and then dissolve things and its all a process of things happening in an order yet to be determined, which is all okay by me.

What isn’t okay by me is how much of this and that there is to be done and how little I care about it. Well, the lack of caring is fine, but the needing to get those things out of the way is not. There are other things out there that I feel would be a better waste of my time, but alas, this is a dramatic complaint and not one worth paying attention to for the time being. Maybe later; I’m yet to decide.

So anyway, I sit here and I get the things out of the way and hear a plane off in the distance, cutting through the sound that was around, and it all seems still and content, but I am not content with my need to be content. However, that is something that I will worry about at another time as right now I’m sitting here and trying to get things out of the way so that I can get to the end of the day and finally relax, but there are other things and there’s some of this and a little of that getting in the way.

Started slow but picked up speed.

A silly writing that once more was fun to write.

Yasunori Mitsuda: Reincarnation

Three listens for this one.

Once more I just went with whatever, but I struggled on a few parts and had to think about what it was that I was saying.

Yasunori Mitsuda’s (光田 康典) “Reincarnation” is from Sailing To The World, an album comprised of songs that he composed for The Seventh Seal: Resurrection of the Dark Lord.

I hope you enjoy.

Some quiet, low synth stretches out, but very soon percussion and guitar comes in. Piano keys play gently, emphasising the melody. Vocals come in, strong in their movement and expression. Soon bass becomes apparent and all seems to be moving toward something.

A bittersweet moment finds itself in the music. There’s almost a sense of reflection, though maybe it’s more some sort of hesitancy. It does not last long, however, and the main melody returns. Almost an awakening on an open plain, or vast ocean. Woodwind ushers in a hint of mystery and adventure before the vocals return, this time joined by violin. Piano becomes a bit more apparent and slowly, yet surely the music’s sway increases.

That bittersweet moment returns, though now it seems less so. With the violin and increased percussion it now seems more certain. It seems ready to step out.

Suddenly the music explodes and becomes celebratory and massive, though without becoming overly dramatic. The percussion holds a steady beat, guitar rings onward in a joyous manner, and the instruments play on with a greater liveliness.

The celebration continues, even as the bittersweet moment returns once more. Almost as though tears are being shed, though they are more of relief, of overwhelming joy. The music is stripped back, but it is certain of itself. It is conclusive in these moments and remains as such and finds an affirmative note as it ends.

One Thousand Word Challenge 132: Wander Away From the City

So the sun is out and that may be a good thing, depending on how you view things.

It is out and it is warming the land and yet it remains cold in this house, but maybe right now that is a good thing. I’m not sure yet, but it might just be a good thing. Could be a bad thing; might be a good thing.

It is good to be inside some of the time but not all of the time. I think that one might be able to say “vice versa” about this statement. Who knows? I don’t want to know and I don’t want to meet the person who would say this. There are other things I consider important in life and meeting this particular person certainly is not high on the list. Other things are, however. Photography is important. Music is important. Drawing is important. Walking and cycling are both important. Meeting this person is not important.

Maybe one day this person will be important when it comes to the act of meeting them. I don’t know if I want to discover that day. I think I’d much rather avoid it as much as I possibly can. However, I cannot deny that there may come a time when I have to confront this act of meeting someone whom I don’t want to meet and then deal with the act of that meeting. It might just happen.

Maybe I can avoid it entirely. Maybe there still is time and I can get away from the whole thing, then let it pass on by, then return. Maybe this is a route that I need to pursue. In the name of avoiding things, I just might.

However, where would I go? What would I do? Is there any point at all? Well, I do know as to where I would go, and that is away from the day that denotes the point at which I would meet such a person. I would wander for a while and experience things.

Maybe I would wander away from the city and see what lies beyond. There are many paths I could follow. I could go into the bush and follow the coast for a while, see where water meets land and all that other stuff. Marvel in the beauty of nature and appreciate how insignificant I am in the grand scheme of things. Try and come to some realisations and really dig into myself. All that kind of stuff.

The air would be fresh and my legs would grow strong… hopefully. There would be little to disturb my thoughts and motion other than the need to pay attention to where I would be going and the occasional person or group of people. It would mostly be peaceful, except for when it would not be peaceful, but sometimes that is the way things go and you’ve got to take what you can when you can, but only so long as you are not harming others. Selfishness is not a virtue. It can drive things, but it is not something to rely upon.

The hills would feel alive, as would the sounds of the ocean roaring against the cliffs. Winds would create sound as they blow through various forms of vegetation and I would be there to experience it all. My wandering would show me things that I don’t often get to see, and I would be shown in more detail than usual.

Perhaps there would come a time when walking would not longer be necessary, but then it would be time to sit and think. I’d need to think for a while and think on things that I don’t often think about. There’s the ideal of the solitary journey where one has a good long think about themselves and their lot in life and all those other things, and perhaps that would be the journey of which I would truly be taking. I would be in the dark after having a meal, looking at the stars, though only briefly as I would be in the dark and just thinking, staring off into the infinite distance, working things out about who I am and all those other things.

Eventually I would feel as though there may be a need to return, for even though I would have journeyed far and wide, there still is a home for which I may feel a need to return to and in this return the journey would be different, for when I started I was young and naïve, but now in all my trials and tribulations I would be returning different. Changed. The environment in which I was in before my journeying would be different, yes, but it would also be stagnant, for it never really changes and that would be something that I could no longer accept. Restlessness and discomfort would come over me. I would have spent a lot of time outside and that was good. Great even. However, as good as being inside would feel, it just wouldn’t quite be the same, for I would have changed too much to be able to fit in with the environment that I had left behind to go on a journey which led to the change. Not necessarily to growth, though there certainly would be some of that, but change and shift.

And so I would get all my things that I felt necessary to take with me once more, and once more I would take my steps out into a world known, but no longer familiar. I would once more go looking for other things out there, and once more I would find myself looking deeply inward to work out more things.

Upon my leaving wherever I would be, someone I know would ask where I was going. I would say that whilst it was good to be inside some of the time, it wasn’t good all of the time, to which they would say “Vice versa”.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 13:04:39

This one was both a bit of a challenge and easy to write.
Not sure why.
Maybe it’s due to stretching things out.
I didn’t consciously do so, but I can see that I did now that the whole mess is written.
Definitely could’ve been shorter.

Oh well.

In a Row

Behold! Another photo of the Northern Water Feature.
Or, the fountain part of it as it is more than just the fountain.

I think this one works well in monochrome. I think it helps provide more definition to the fountain. I also think that, in conjunction with the angle, it distorts its actual appearance.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 991: Testing

This is a test. Testing to see if this works. Need to run the tests.

Need to make sure that all is in working order and then do the doing, but right now is the testing. This also involves warming up and sometimes the best way to warm up is to jump right into the thing of which you are doing, which in this case just so happens to be testing.

What am I testing?

Don’t know yet. Will get there eventually, however. Will work that all out. Right now that is not something that needs to be considered. It just needs to be full steam ahead into the testing so that when the test is complete what it was that was being tested can be discerned. For now it’s just the testing and there is some warming up. No cooling down; not yet, anyway. Worry about that later, I will.

So now that we’re this far into the test, there needs to be the declaration of intent and I don’t know how to go about that as right now I’m just racing on and looking for the best path forward to complete the test. I don’t know where that is and, even though I am looking, I don’t know if I can truly be bothered to try and find out. Rather just find myself feeling lost and confused and bewildered and all those other things than actually reach what it is that needs to be reached. This is a test, after all.

Perhaps this is something that will reveal itself over time after the test has long past its being conducted. Maybe that will be what happens. I don’t know if that is indeed the case, but sometimes I hope that it would indeed be the case. Sometimes I hope about other things too, but right now this is what I am hoping as I don’t want to have to do more than I want to do, which is, quite frankly, very little at the moment. I don’t want to move too much. Just kind of want to sit here and zone out for a few years.

Still, the test continues on and I continue in engaging in the art of testing. Not sure as to what kind of art testing is, but it is a rigorous one sometimes. It can also be lazy and sloppy, but right now I am convincing myself that this is rigorous testing and then at the end of it all there will be a result in which the answers can be discerned. At the very least, some information which then may lead to some sort of conclusion. Maybe even conclusions.

Who knows?

So now that that last bit is out of the way, I can now say that the testing is over. I don’t know what it was that I was testing, but now that it’s over I can walk away and move toward the next thing and see where that leads me.

A Poem About Sounds at Night

With most of these I feel that if I sunk more time into working on them, they’d turn out much better.

Anyway, with this one I was just looking to try and capture some of the sounds I can hear at the moment.

I hope you enjoy.

Sounds reach out through the dark
Into the light in which I sit
And look to be received

I hear them move through the night
As they refute a stillness
And form their rhythms

Some of it carries a calmness
Others break in to punctuate
They all eventually disappear

Where the Levels Meet

More photos of a car park.

This one I took mostly due to finding this particular bit interesting. There was little thought that went into what I was doing.

I do like the shifts in light.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.
