V/Line

Behold! The V/Line!

I was fortunate enough to be parked near these tracks and leaving the station that’s partially visible after taking some photos of it when this train was approaching.

I think I’ve done a decent job of framing the train, and I like that it appears so still rather than in motion.

I hope you enjoy.

Series of Events Dream

I was walking over to a friend’s place as we were heading off to The Blue Mountains to go bushwalking and to buy Sourdough. After a while I realised that I’d forgotten to take the car.

There was a sign showing how far to go before I reached the suburb in which my friend lived. There was one and a half kilometres to go. I had walked for three and a half kilometres and felt that I’d come too far to turn around.

I met my friend not quite at their place, but at an open small park area with seats and a table. We were standing up. I told them what happened and we decided to get an Uber back to my place, then go from there.

The Uber arrived and it was an old white car. Maybe from the nineties or early aughts. It looked fine on the outside but the inside of it had not been maintained. Parts of the seat covers were tearing and the dashboard was worn out. The driver looked like one of my university professors when they were in their twenties.

We drove off and went along a path that looked like a footpath, but wider. To be more specific, it looked like an unpaved footpath that was slightly lower than its immediate surrounds. The soil was brown and had bits of rock sticking out in a few parts. Around the path was wet grass, and whilst the path and some of its area around it was visible, there was a thick fog on both sides.

As we drove along there were these really big and muscular lizards along the path that would appear behind us. Some would stand on their hind legs. They still had lizard feet for their forefeet. They’d stand, then go back to being on all fours. Some would appear in front of us. They were called maso lizards, but whilst they looked menacing, they didn’t attack us. We also somehow didn’t run over any of them.

There may also have been a regular antelope, but I’m not sure.

We got to a point where the path diverged. One way went downward and into the thick fog. The Uber driver asked if it was fine to go that way. As it seemed dangerous to me I said no. The other way went up a steep hill with little path. It was a little rough, but we got to the top in one piece.

We ended up at this large brown / maroon building which was where we had to stop. It was part of a city and maybe it was the city we were in, but it was also disconnected from the rest of what it was from. My friend and I decided we’d give the Uber driver five stars.

The three of us entered the building and it was large inside. There was a wedding reception inside but everyone was dressed pretty casually. Another of my university professors was there with their kid. The Uber driver said they were going to look for something. Then my friend and I walked off without saying anything.

We came across my friend’s lover who happened to be there. They were wearing the Jamiroquai hat with horns, but it was smaller. One of the horns was able to project an image on the floor.

We were walking somewhere at a reasonable pace. I think we were still trying to get back to my place which was outside and away from the building of which we were in. The projecting horn was projecting the image of a Japanese man wearing casual business attire and glasses. He was drawn semi-realistically and had two frames of walking animation. He said “A line is not a void for paper arguments”. Then, without turning or changing animation, lifted off the ground and rapidly approached me. It happened on Snapchat but it also happened there where I was.

Then I woke up.

A Poem About The Super Blood Moon… I Think

I started this last night, then finished it just now.
It didn’t take up much time; I was too tired to finish it and then started again a few minutes ago.

I think some of this is alright. I was too limiting with line length though, which led to something rather uneven.

I hope you enjoy.

A cold night
With clear skies
Appears still
And wholly formed

The satellite rises
On its path
And slowly
Disappears

Consumed it is
By stretched shadow
Yet it retains
Visibility

Rather than fade
The satellite
Takes on new light
Bathed in blood

Wind Turbines

I saw these on the drive to Melbourne and thus took the opportunity to take a photo.

Bit of a grim-looking photo, but I do like seeing wind turbines. Sure, they don’t match the landscape, but they’re a form of progress worth supporting.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

A Drying Field

This was taken at one of the rest areas I stopped at whilst driving back to Sydney.

This is wide and open, yet not expansive. The power pole somehow feels lonesome and the field feels quiet.

It was a cold day and I feel a bit of that comes through in this image, but I didn’t mind. I captured what feels like an Australian scene.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-forty-ninth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Cool Colors – Blue and Green“.

Both of those colours are in this photo, but I wanted to include this image due to the absence of green in the field.

There may be more green than what is visible, but at the same time this area looks either like it hasn’t seen much rain as of late or that it doesn’t see regular rainfall. I think that it’s easy to think of this field being greener during wetter times.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Tina. Next week Dianne Millard of Rambling Ranger is guest-curating.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays: It’s For You

I think I was looking more at imagery and mood than describing what was going on. Not sure if I did well, but I think that this is one of the better things in this series that I’ve written thus far.

It’s an easy read, I think. Probably could use some cleaning up, but it’s relatively smooth for one listen of the song, I think.

I first heard “It’s For You” in 2014. It was a few months after getting dumped and I was listening to Fine Music fm. It wasn’t long before I acquired the album the song is on, but it took a while before I listened to any of the others on said album.

Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays’ “It’s For You” is from As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls.

I hope you enjoy.

A flowing melody, finding itself gently carried in a breeze and over a vast landscape.
The first sounds of synth come out and rise as the guitar keeps on strumming away. A sense of perhaps pensiveness creeps in for a moment, but the music keeps on going. There is a sense of perhaps longing here and sentimentality. There’s something that may be getting left behind, though perhaps what it represents is a return.

Sounds move around each other and fill space, but keep things spaced. There’s no cluttering. There seems as though there may be a build, but it all suddenly pulls back. Perhaps it is now dark, or at least some deeper looking inward. It’s all quieter in a sense. Lying low. Keeping things quiet, but also more emphasised. Deliberate.

A voice adds harmony and the synth responds. Melody builds up in greater quantity and, whilst there remains a sadness and longing, this is still in a stage of working things out. Determination remains. In comes a brighter day.

The song lifts up and finds itself enjoying the moment whilst also looking forward. The song is moving in a direction, through the landscape, dancing about and embracing the past without letting that be a weight. It has found a greater joy than at the start.

A solo continues on throughout this newfound joy, and whilst it does have attention, it is only slightly more than the other instrumentation. The solo is working; it is weaving a tapestry with the other sounds and it is helping to tell the story. It shows motion and mood in equal measure and lets itself be as guided by the other instruments as it does its own lead.

The sounds all work toward something and keep it all sounding light and uplifting, but it all eventually fades out; not too soon and not too late, but at the right moment.

One Thousand Word Challenge 122: Objects

Morning. It is morning. I am writing this in the morning. I am expressing that I am writing this in the morning. Of course this adds nothing to what will follow, but sometimes you need to set the scene. Sometimes you need to paint the medium.

However, there is no painting here and I am not a painter; well, not right now, at least. However, that “however” is beside the point.

Now that I have said that, I shall start pointing at things and describing them in a particular way so as to be able to further create imagery that sticks, or something. This is what I am assuming I will do, as I am going to do it so that there is more of an image and therefore spatial relations can be formed in some manner, even though the spatial relations are entirely up to the person thinking up the image and not to me, for I am not going to describe distance; I am just going to describe things that are around me. From there, it is all up to you and not I.

Probably the first thing that I should describe is the things that are directly in front of my presence when considering my presence as being oriented as being central to myself and the direction I am facing being “forward”.

In front of me there are objects. These objects display other objects, but the objects displayed on the objects are not so much objects as they are a visual representation of objects. Still, in being a representation of objects they too are objects in their own way, shape and form. Sometimes these objects change and sometimes they disappear. There are occasions where they may reappear. Sometimes there are no objects displayed on the objects. However, they remain as objects, or at least visual representations of objects.

A little to my left based on the forward-facing direction of forward there are other objects. There are also some to the right of my being. In fact, one might say that this desk is covered in a few varying objects and some are more distinct than others, such as the objects that allow you to plug other things into them, thus creating a channel for electricity to travel through in order to infuse one thing with the electricity so that it can be charged up so that it can serve a function that I might require later. I don’t know if I will, but that certainly is a possibility, so yeah.

Some of the other objects serve no purposes other than to be there and that is fine by me. sometimes it is not fine and I desire to have the objects serve a greater purpose, but right now it is fine and that is what I am sticking to here. I don’t want to think about that too much as that will mean that I will question my thinking on this thing a little too much which might just lead to further issues and complications, so therefore I need to stick to this thinking and then walk away from the whole thing so I can get back on with living my life to the fullest.

Some of the objects serve a purpose and require no source of power and that is something I greatly appreciate as it means that I need not worry about them more often than I need to worry about them when it comes to being powered up. They’re not powered up and they need no powering up. They need no source of electricity and therefore there is no preparation that goes into their use other than the preparing to use them without having to worry about needing to use electricity to use them.

There are some objects that are small and these ones are mostly near other objects that are small. When put together they form what is known as “clutter” and there is a fair bit of clutter at certain parts of my desk. This is of course annoying, though not always. It is only annoying sometimes, so that’s okay. It could always be worse and because it always being able to be worse, I am glad that it is not and therefore put the clutter to the side where it can be even more cluttering. However, I am sure that, given enough time, the clutter will take over the desk and I’ll have a new layer of desk to work with. I am not sure if this is a good thing, but for now it is a thing and therefore it is something I need to keep in mind until I forget about it once more.

Some of the items on my desk display images in them. Some of these images are in the shapes of words and therefore they allow themselves to be read as they are images that I created through the power of using another object to conjure the images that then appear in the other objects. This is not something that happens often, however, as there are always other things that need doing, such as using some things to illuminate the dark and using some things to darken the light, but of course these all come and go in cycles, much like the passage of time.

They help to delineate moments and these moments then spread forward and create their own canvass of which new objects may spring forward from, but there is no telling on some days and so all continues on with a certain level of regularity that is difficult to perceive, but not always. It is only sometimes when it is difficult to perceive and that being sometimes is better than never, so therefore…

So anyway, there are objects on my desk and I feel as though I am done talking about them, so I’m going to start doing other things now as there are other things that need some level of doing done.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 12:32:85

Faster than some other recent stuff.

There was a bit of promise in this one, but I think I didn’t quite follow through.
Oh well.

Also, this ended up being shared here a number of hours after it was written, so yeah.

Written at home.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 952: What if I Were to Ramble Some More?

Cold and all that, but I’m warm and so the cold is countered and so I can keep on going on with whatever it is that I am going on with, or something.

The day changes to the evening and now it is dark outside. It is a new era of day, but it is one that occurs quite regularly and so it is easy to take for granted. However, what if we were to not take it for granted, ever?

Perhaps we would tire out much sooner than usual.

I sit and I think about what it is that I am trying to get across; if there every is any meaning, and a bunch of other things that I cannot be bothered attempting to list at the present moment. However, I will do so anyway… if I can muster up the energy to do so, that is.

There is little energy at the moment as I feel a strong urge to relax, so relaxing is what I am doing. It is a thing that I am doing and embracing it is what I am indeed doing. However, soon I will need to shift into a state of action so that I can get some things done. However, these things don’t pertain to writing or artistry; they pertain to putting things away and making sure that food is in an orderly order, or something. These things are things that need to be done and I need to help out here, for these things cannot be always done by one person alone as that is not sharing the load and perhaps it is a little unfair. That means that I need to be a responsible adult; something of which I’d much prefer I don’t need to be as there are things that I want to do that are away from being responsible and an adult, but require being… an adult also?

So anyway, I’m rambling (which is no different from usual) and I’m trying to get all my thoughts together, but perhaps the more I do this the far more scattered they become. I don’t know if that is a good thing, or if it is a bad thing, but it is a thing and perhaps it is something that I need to work toward addressing. If I don’t, then this will just continue with all the aimlessness that I keep on putting out there; something of which I was hoping to avoid for a little while, but alas, here we are.

Well, anyway, with all of that being said I think I’ll go and worship the coming of night and then do some other stuff, then gripe and moan about needing to put food away as that seems like a sensible and logical thing to do at this particular juncture in life. Otherwise, if I don’t, then who knows what will happen?

Well, I guess things will just go on, but that’s not something I’ll consider at this current moment.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:40:02

A little better than the last bit of writing, but still quite messy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 951: Awake for far too Long

I have been awake for far too long. However, that is not the pint of this writing.

There may be no point to this writing, which is the point of this writing. However, it is not pointing at anything, so I don’t know as to where I am going with this.

Maybe I am heading over there. It is over the hills and far away, toward some unknown destination that is of course known, but currently is unknown by me at this current moment.

Maybe there are flowing rivers and the sounds of wildlife away from the comfort of home. Maybe there are sounds I am yet to hear, yet somehow am entirely familiar with. Or something.

Perhaps there need not be a journey, but an extension of the imagination. Perhaps what I really need to do is push outward and let my mind reach and see what it can try to conjure up in order to absorb and transform into something different. Maybe that is the way forward that I must seek. If so, then perhaps that is indeed what I will seek. However, there is no knowing until I decide that it is the time to make a decision that will let me do the reaching out and all of that other stuff that I say that seems to make sense when viewed in a very specific manner, which is to say… something, I guess.

I think that there’s meant to be something here about the insignificance of it all, but I’ve forgotten to put it in. Instead I’ve talked about imagination, or the mind, or both, or neither; right now I am not quite sure, but I’m sure that with a bit of trying to work it out I can work it out. However, there’s a bit of difficulty in trying to insert the bit about insignificance at this stage, which might just prove significant as it speaks about the inability to have the ability to do the thing that needed to be done and so I cannot just walk back on that as now the work has transformed into something else and so now I have to admit that the work has become something else. It is away from what it is that I envisioned and so there is no envisioning left. I can only hang my head in shame and accept my act of deceit of the self, for there is no other thing that I can conjure that will match whatever it is that needs matching. I am left to hold my shame on my back and walk under its crushing weight, for there is little else that I can do that may help guide this toward something greater than whatever it is that I assume is great, or something.

So anyway, I think I’ll just let my imagination wander a bit and that should help to bring things to a nice conclusion.

Then again, maybe not. Maybe this will not find its conclusion.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:43:80

This is a mess.
There’s not much else to say about it.

Transmission in the Field

This was taken during the drive from Sydney to Melbourne.

I like the contrast between the open field being vegetative, and the power lines and transmission towers being industrial, though considering the field is likely used for pastoral-related processes, it too could be considered industrial in a sense.

The clouds look quiet massive in this one, and they help to impose an implied darkening of the area, which in turn (in conjunction with the suggested dryness) creates a sort-of stark feel to the image.

I hope you enjoy.
