A Poem About Time Passing

I wasn’t sure as to what this was gong to be when I started writing it.

I think that perhaps there is a good idea in this, but I don’t think I carried it well.

I hope you enjoy.

So it comes that time passes
Day to night and light to dark
All that is is all that was
And all that might is all that is

In time time too moves along
Waiting for none, yet carrying all
Through weaving branches
And tangled pathways

Even when nothing occurs
Still it all passes on by
Yet as night falls to day
Many become active participants

tricot: Tokyo Vampire Hotel

I’ve wanted to do these a bit more frequently and I’m not sure as to why I have not.

This was written over three listens, though the last one was split up a fair bit due to how quickly “Tokyo Vampire Hotel” moves.

The song is a strong opener for an album that, at the very least, is interesting in how it explores.

tricot’s “Tokyo Vampire Hotel” is from 3.

I hope you enjoy.

It starts with fast, furious drumming. Striking out and rolling with some sort of atmospheric sound in the background, a fast striking, then the guitar, vocals and bass come in. Super punchy, striking, on point, precise… it’s hard-hitting, punchy stuff.

The vocals push out a little further, taking the forefront and holding all the punch and oomph necessary to meet the music. There’s a sense of passion and playfulness, but also a great deal of energy coming forward.

The song suddenly switches to something more overtly melodic with some vocal interplay, then continues its really fun energy as it drives on forward through what is implied to be a chorus. Smooth harmonies and a sort of gliding down in a sense.

A suddenly unleashing of percussive “chaos” in what seems like a mirror to the verse and its all just really complex in sound, but still really fun. Then the song drops back a bit and the main vocal line does something a little more “speaking”, though retaining a sense of melody. Retaining that energy, that drive, that thrust.

Once more a return the chorus is seen and the energy continues before tricot switch to something a bit more traditionally “rock” with their melody and just really drive on home. The energy stays high and the section just becomes grand.

Thus far the song has felt much like a sweeping, wild ride. In its closing sections it remains as such. One last vocalising, a few quick, hard-hitting notes and the song arrives at its end.

Corvus coronoides

As far as I am away this is an Australian raven. Not entirely certain, but still pretty certain.

I took this photo last year and forgot about it which is a shame as I feel that this is a good photo. I’ve probably taken better, but I really like how this one turned out.

I feel as though the raven feels very still and almost awkward, though it is not. It is graceful in its moment before taking off.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-forty-fourth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Taking Flight

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Tina. Next week Priscilla of Scilliagrace is guest-curating.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

On the Valley’s Top

With this photo… I’m not sure as to what I was going for.

I think I mostly was just trying to capture this particular bit of land and how striking I felt it appeared.

I think there’s something dry about this scene. Maybe a bit rough. Still, I think it’s a lovely view provided.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 931: A Good Day for Thought

It was a good day, or at least it was perceived to be a good day. Truly it was just a day, but there was a perception and that perception was both applied and lived within. Somehow that made it better than the truth.

They stepped out, walked a few steps, then stretched a bit. Today was theirs to conquer and they were going to conquer it in the only way they knew how; one step at a time. Of course this meant that the walk of the morning was slow, but at least it allowed them the time to think and to ruminate upon that which had come to pass and that which may come to be. There was only one way to find out what would come to be, however, so of course that would mean they would need to proceed to the future, though always remain in the present so as to see what it was that would come to pass and then leave it in the past as the present kept on flowing to the future.

Each step taken was one carefully considered and each step taken was one with the determination of certainty behind it. There was a path that needed to be traced and followed as often as it was created and this was one that was theirs and theirs alone. Of course it looked like all other paths and perhaps when viewed from a certain angle, it was, but that was not what it actually was. No, it was a path of their own creation and the appearance of the mundane only helped it become much more inconspicuous. It meant that there would be no bothering on the walk and therefore the thoughts that were ones that they considered as being worth consideration would be able to flow through with something resembling the greatest of ease.

And so on their journey of walking they walked and traveled a distance further than a short distance, but not as a far as a long distance. There was plenty of sights, though of course they all seemed like something that was not really outstanding, save for a few differing details and shapes and sizes, for although everything was all there and there were differences that could be noticed, the walk was through the heart of suburbia and didn’t provide anything that could be considered worthwhile; not at least to their mind anyway. They had seen it all before and it was something they didn’t care much more at this point in their life. What they cared for was deep introspection and the serious, heavy topics that inspire thought and creativity.

Perhaps they were kidding themselves and merely engaged within a façade of who they thought they were rather than who they actually were, but that was fine as there were other things to think about, for it was a good day for thinking much in the same way that it was a good day for walking.

Just kind of flat writing. Not sure what I was going for.

Fading Afternoon

I feel that with this photo (and perhaps some of the next few) I was in the right place at the right time.

I like how the late afternoon light softens the scene and helps to create a muted feel. There’s a sense of calmness that works well with the massive size of this area.

I hope you enjoy.

One Thousand Word Challenge 117: Finally Under Nine Minutes

Once more I am making an attempt at doing the thousand words under nine minutes and I have no idea as to how I can go about doing this, other than trying to write as quickly as possible and hoping for the best.

I don’t know as to why I keep on doing this. I don’t know as to why I keep on trying. I don’t think it is the best of ideas I’ve ever had. Somehow I keep going for it. Maybe it is just born out of desires. That is probably it.

Well, here we go, even though I’ve already started. I can already feel myself slowing down far more than I want to. My hands are cold and they’re really feeling the cold, but I will keep on trying as trying is the thing that I do and trying is what I will keep on doing until I succeed in this task. This task doesn’t really prove anything, but sometimes it is a fun thing in which I can engage.

There are less than eight minutes remaining at this point, and there is almost less than seven. There are less than twenty seconds to less than seven minutes to go, so therefore that is a thing of which I need to combat and try and find a way around in the hopes that I get to the end with the success that I so desperately crave.

Do I really crave it, or is that something that I just tell myself in order to keep the flow going? I do not know, for all I do is race on ahead and hope for the best. It’s a bit like driving without looking where you’re going., though far, far less dangerous, so there’s that. That is an analogy of sorts. Maybe it isn’t. I don’t know. I’m just writing whatever it is that I can right now and I’m getting dangerously close to running out of things of which I can write for this particular thing, whatever it is.

It is a bit of writing where I’m going through the motions and hoping for the best, though the best seems to have left me a while ago. My hands are still cold and they’re not warming up, but somehow I am still going ahead and racing onward and therefore I need to keep on going and trying to get to the end of all of this and perhaps, just perhaps I will be successful in my endeavour.

Still waiting for all of this to go off the rails but so far it feels like this has been relatively linear. I don’t knw if that is currently the case; I’m just caught up in the moment, but of course I hope and I continue to persevere against all odds, but there is no perseverance without some sort of resistance and I am my own resistance in this instance. That and the cold hands which are not my fault as I’ve done my best to make sure that they’re warm; it just happens to be cold in here, even though it is a little warmer outside. That is something of which I am not a fan, but you cope in whatever way that you can and so coping in whatever way that I can is indeed what it is that I am doing. Still hoping and still persevering.

Weren’t these meant to be under eight minutes? I can’t remember. However, I will continue onward and try to get u9nder nine  minutes. I think that perhaps under eight minutes might be stretching it a little too much and I also have work soon and I don’t want to be puckered out for that, for there will be a lot of screaming of which I will have to deal with and having tired hands from racing forward a little too much won’t help as there will be a lot of typing that I need to do and all that other stuff. You get the idea.

Anyway, I nearly am there, I think, though perhaps I’m a little too far off to try and really work out what it is that I have done thus far and how far I have to go before I reach the limit.

Six minutes to go, though technically it is three minutes to go as the timer just hit the six-minute mark. I think I am nearly there, but I don’t really know as per reasons stated above.

Anyway, I think I can keep on going and keep on doing this. I think that I can get there, but this really is a bit of a struggle and I cannot stress enough as to how much this is hurting me. Of course I have no person to blame but myself, but of course I will keep on going and hope as I am a stubborn person this morning. I don’t want to work also, but the money is required and therefore there will be working in order to make a bit more coin and all that other stuff. Need to eat and need to earn a living so I continue to persist there too.

Now that that is said, I have to admit that I feel as though I am doing far worse than I had initially anticipated, but also I am nearly there. I keep on going and I am nearly there. I can see the end and hopefully it does not creep up on me too much. Hopefully I don’t go over the limit of which I have set myself.

Less than a minute to go now and the end really is nearly there. I can’t believe it. I might just make it. I might just get to the end of all of this and then I will have done what I set out do to. If I don’t make it, then I think that at least it was a good attempt and I’ll be satisfied.

The time it took to write one thousand words: 08:35:41

A real mess of a bit of writing, this one.

I do like how it provides an idea of how my thinking was during the process, though most of these do… so yeah.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 930: Digging Deeper

The idea is to go up and not down, but going down is what I am doing. There is a digging deeper, but there is no going deeper, if that makes sense.

Well, that is what I am thinking but perhaps there is another way that I am not perceiving. There are possibilities and admittedly I could very well be blind to a few of them, so let us see where this all leads and all that other stuff. Alternatively I could not, but perhaps it is time to stop trying to get out of the rut and go further and deeper into the hole and see where it all leads. Maybe there is some sort of merit in that.

I don’t want to believe that there is, however. If I start believing that, then I don’t know as to where this whole thing will lead. I don’t know if I even want to follow it. Maybe I will follow it though not through conscious choice of my own. Maybe I will go wherever the hole leads regardless of what I want to do as, no matter how hard I try there is no escaping whatever it is that I’ve gotten myself into, other than through furthering it and continuing on the trek that it leads.

Might need some light sources on the way down, however. It might get pretty dark. I’d rather not work in the dark as I’ve done so a few too many times; even with some light source it is not the easiest thing I’ve experienced. However, in cases of duress, I have to admit that this sis something that I will need to face and so I will face it in whatever way that I can.

Maybe I won’t face it at all and instead just pretend that it is not dark and push it away with pure, unadulterated denial. Sometimes that does work, but not always. Therefore I need to try and find where it would be the best place to do it, and also when the best time to do so.

Maybe instead of all of that I should just keep on fighting against what it is that I continually allow for myself to be dragged into and climb out of this deep hole I’ve dug. It might take a while but surely the potential for growth outside of the unknown is there and if I can tap into it, then maybe, just maybe I will become a better writer.

Only maybe; there is never any certainty, though of course there is confidence in the ability to face the unknown and take it on and all that other stuff that sounds good and makes this sound more inspirational than it actually is.

I’ve forgotten as to where I was meant to be going with this.

Well, with all of that being said, something something and I’ll rise above it all, but you can too if you put your mind to it, or something.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:25:70

Both perhaps blandly personal and messy.

One End

The same carriages as in this photo, but from a different position.

I think this photo feels a little more on the bleak side of things due to how quiet and overcast it appears.

I also like the sense of distance created by the length of the combined carriages. Along with the curve I feel it gives the photo a strong sense of depth.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

A Poem About Feeling Tired

A strong desire to write, but soon I must sleep, hence the writing of this one.
Rather simple, basic stuff.

I hope you enjoy.

To be awake is what I desire
Though that is what I currently am
However, only physically it is true
For I am not quite feeling so otherwise

Though the day has been long
It has not been overly taxing
And perhaps that is why
I feel sleepier than I appear

Of course this is no worry
For the time of rest fast approaches
I merely felt a desire
To express something mundane
