Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1066: Talk About Important Stuff

So I’ve had two restarts on this bit of writing and now I’m hoping that third time is the charm. I don’t want to have to start again. The first two times I had to stop and restart early, but there is no telling if that is indeed the pattern that will be the pattern that continues.

So anyway, I’m sitting here and I’m doing the writing and I’m hoping that I don’t have to start again. I’m tired and all that other stuff. It is a warm day and the cicadas are loud and they are beautiful. Their droning is a wonderful thing to hear. The heat isn’t as wonderful, so it’s lucky that the cicadas are there.

I sit here and I sweat and I ramble on about things that don’t matter and I still think about the impact that I have on the world. I think about all that I do and all that I am doing and how I should go about it all. How can I be a better person? How can I contribute to society more? How can I keep on growing?

I think about things that don’t matter, but more importantly I think about things that I feel matter and I feel others should consider as important. I think about the environment and how we’ve a strong disregard for it and I think about how we all seem to shrug our shoulders or pat ourselves on the back when we don’t do enough.

Such is the way of things I suppose.

However, not enough people want to talk about the continual environmental degradation of which we all take a part of and so I won’t talk about that right now as there are other things out there that should be talked about, such as how warm it is and how bored I can be at the best of times. That is more important than making sure we have a future that any generations further along in time can be a part of without too much worry for the environment beyond a regular need to take care of it.

It is more important for me to talk about how my car has issues than it is for me to talk about how stuff’s getting pretty dire. It’s also more important for me to talk about other things that don’t concern the environment.

Why talk  about the environment when I can talk about things that don’t matter? Why bother even considering the environment? Sure, we remain a part of an environment that is within the environment, but that’s not important in any way, shape or form. There are other, more important things to talk about, such as how I’m sweating a little bit and how I’m somehow inconvenienced by that sweat, and how great air conditioning is and how I wished I had air conditioning here.

Talking about the environment? Doesn’t matter. Sure, it’s there and it’s important, but it doesn’t matter. We’ll be fine.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:17:78

If this seems angry, it is and I am.
Maybe it’s too angry. I don’t know. I think it’s important that we talk more about and actively participate in keeping the environment healthy.

A Poem About a Need to Relax Disrupted

This took a bit longer to write than I thought it would.
In part that’s due to the constant disruption going on at the moment.

This isn’t good writing. It’s very uneven in terms of use of language. It gets the point across, but it could be better.

I hope you enjoy.

A need to loosen is met with disjoint
And so rigidity continues and increases
There is no calm and no quiet
Despite all desires

An incessant blaring hits the body
As some force their will upon others
Without thought of concern
They continue their blasts

A need for rest reaches out
Though its voice withers away
Among an encroaching mass
Of an other’s disruptions

Hiroki Kikuta: Where Angel Fear to Tread

This was written over two listens.

I wrote about this one as I kind of wanted to compare it to the opening track for Secret of Mana. They’re similar tracks in terms of mood, but how they carry themselves is different. This one is a bit heavier and maybe a little more muted in parts. It’s also longer and carries a stronger sense of atmosphere. It feels more cinematic.

I was looking to describe the song more than the imagery and I think I kind of pulled

Hiroki Kikuta’s (菊田 裕樹) “Where Angel Feat to Tread” (“天使の怖れ”) is from Seiken Densetsu 3 Original Sound Version, the soundtrack for Seiken Densetsu 3.

I hope you enjoy.

Keys oscillate around sounds as something akin to a woodwind sits on top. It is early and, though maybe it is late. It is dark, though there is light. The sounds carry a weightiness; a burden as a dire situation comes to the surface. Slowly the sounds move with each other as they carry the scene outward. There’s an urging of sorts. Maybe it is a pleading.

The sounds rise up and soar for a moment; They appear to be searching for something as a situation grows dire. They begin to slow down, but instead of stopping they shift.

There remains a sense of that weight, but they refuse to let it bring them to a stop. Percussion comes in and the melody remains, but there is now more of a sense of hope and determination. The sounds proceed with greater vigour and determination than before. They roll and rush forward, building with each other and once more rise, building up to something.

A sudden pause, then the sounds find a singular point and strike it, sounding hopeful amidst adversity as the song ends.

Hiroki Kikuta: Fear of the Heavens

Two listens here.

Had no idea as to what I wanted to capture here and so I went ahead and… I’m not sure as to what I’ve done here.

Hiroki Kikuta’s (菊田 裕樹) “Fear of the Heavens” (“天使の怖れ”) is from Seiken Densetsu 2 Original Sound Version aka Secret of Mana Original Sound Version, the soundtrack for Seiken Densetsu 2 aka Secret of Mana.

I hope you enjoy.

Something low rumbles as it calls out.

Strings play as a gentle sound walks upon them. There’s a melancholy and a hope. Bass comes in at the ushering of percussion and all remains gentle and of the dawn. There’s a fragility, but it all rises and stands steadfast against the odds.

Rich are the sounds as they soar. They glide and ride out, full and rich and moving with a grace, reaching for something before coming back down. Their descent is gentle and perhaps a signifier of heavier things to come.

After a brief flicker and slight drawing, a weighty note is struck as the song ends.

Blue Covered by Orange

With this photo, I like how the sky is getting covered by the clouds.
I think it provides a strong sense of transition to night.
Considering the time of day this photo shows, that’s probably an obvious thing, but I feel it shows well here.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-eighty-first Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “Double Dipping“.

As is with the theme, I’m also linking to Nancy Merrill Photography, a photographer who also runs a challenge. At the moment the current challenge there is “View” and I feel this photo also fits. With that said, this challenge is one to check out.

The host of the Lens-Artists challenges cycles weekly between the following people:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This one is curated by Tina. The next one is curated by Patti.

This year three people are joining the Lens-Artists team:

Sofia Alves of  Photographias

Anne Sandler of Slow Shutter Speed

John Steiner of Journeys with Johnbo

As such the above hosting order is likely to change.

I recommend participating in the challenges. They’re enjoyable and allow room for interpretation of the theme without straying too far. If you don’t participate, then I recommend that you at least check out what others of the Lens-Artists community are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Flying Lotus: Theme

This was written over two listens.

“Theme” is a short song but it has a lot happening. I tried to capture it through imagery which kind of worked at first. Had I not switched modes then it probably would’ve worked the whole way through.

Flying Lotus’ “Theme” is from You’re Dead!.

I hope you enjoy.

A heavy drone stretches out, unfolding a landscape. Scenes rush on by, almost seeming overwhelming as all blurs into each other. Sounds rumble underneath and bits of percussion shimmer on through and the dawn rises as the sun sets and all cycles around each other, becoming indistinct. And yet, it seems meditative and perhaps is actually a moment of calm among intensity.

Suddenly a different kind of rush comes forward. A blast of percussion and other sounds. A slight pause, a stirring, another blast. A repeat. A fade away, then a fade back in. Brass, percussion and other sounds congeal together, seemingly as a mess, yet all knowing what they are doing. However, before another unleash, during one last pause the song ends.

One Thousand Word Challenge 172: Writing Fast

I haven’t done one of these in a while and it’s probably a good thing. Probably shouldn’t have decided to do another one again, but my wrist is feeling a little bit better at the moment and so I’m going to try and do this again.

It’s a tough thing, but I imagine that for some it is really easy. I don’t know why that is, but I do know as to why that is, but I’ll pretend I don’t as somehow that will make this writing more compelling.

I don’t know how people write so fast. I don’t know as to how they do it and I don’t know as to why they do it. I’m sure that there are a lot of reasons as to why and I’m merely ignorant of the ways that these things go. However, I should go on a journey to find out as to why.

On this journey here will be exploration of the adventurous type and there will be the asking of questions. There will be learning and there will be danger. Danger must be avoided and danger must be dealt with if it cannot be avoided. It needs to be known and understood so as to be able to better go on the journey and find out where everything lies and where it all leads to and all that other stuff that I won’t go into right now.

This will be a journey to find out as to why some people write so fast and why they keep writing so fast. Is it something that they feel compelled too? Is it something that they do due to the fun of it, or is it something they do due to sheer boredom taking over their lives so hard that they now need to reckon with a duplicate of themselves that manifested itself over an archipelago of deceit?

These are all questions that are better asked by people that are not me, but I will still ask them as that is what I am planning on doing. How I will ask these questions is another story entirely, however.

There is no telling as to how I will ask these question, but what there is is the knowledge that they may be asked in a hostile manner. that is the best way to get information and no one person can tell me otherwise. Maybe three people, but if there was one person I would not be swayed in my firm and strong belief of this fact, for it is now fact and no one can tell me otherwise.

What isn’t fact is that I will get lost on this journey. That is false information and whoever spreads it is telling lies of the most heinous level of lies that there is. One might consider that unbecoming of their character, but if they feel the need to, then I shall fight them wherever I may, for I never get lost and there is no one out there who can prove such a thing.

They can prove that they exist, however, and perhaps that means that other things can be proven and that is something that I want to avoid. I don’t want to be dealing with proof and a grounded reality. I want to float along and let this journey drag me by the ankles as I learn more and writing at an accelerated pace. That is what I want and I don’t want to be held back.

When the journey is done I can then collate everything and see how it all stacks up against itself, but I cannot do that if I am forced to grapple with the situation in a real way. If I cannot be in my imagination the whole time, then what will I do other than perhaps find out some real stuff and then grapple with that?

I don’t know and I don’t want to know. I just want to do that which I want to do and get on with it all and then from there I can go on with my life and live in the most imaginary and fantastic way possible.

where was I going with all of this?

So anyway, I’m writing quickly and I’m truing to get this done as quickly as I currently can, but alas, I am slowing down as my wrist is hurting and I need to exercise it more, but that is no excuse. Maybe there’s just no fuel in the tank and what it really is is that I’m rolling downhill, but soon that will level out and then what do I do? Where do I go from there? Once this slows all the way down and stops I can only get out and start walking at a vigorous pace, but maybe that will be too hard, or something. Maybe I’ll need to rethink the whole thing.

Maybe it would be better to just stay in the vehicle and hope for a gentle breeze that will somehow lead to the gradual, yet unexpected acceleration that Will; then help me finish all of this off. I think that would be good, but sometimes you can’t just hope for stuff and need to get out and do what you can to make things better so that then they’re all better and you’ve done what you can to make sure that they’re all better.

I don’t know where I’m going with this.

Is that evident? Is that obvious? I think so. What I do know, however, is that if I can’t get this done in under nine minutes, then at least I should have it done in under ten minutes and that still is a good effort. That still is something that I can be happy about, but I won’t be happy until I’ve done all that I can to make sure that I understand the speed of writing, unless I don’t, in which case… well, I will find out another time.

I was hoping to get this written in less time, but joint pain and all that.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1065: Thinking

Alright, so what I’m currently doing is writing this.

That’s a terrible start.

What I’m currently doing is sitting here and writing this and in that writing I am looking at things that are outside more than I am looking at things that are inside. I need to look inside a bit more often; I need to look internally.

There is a journey implied here, but I spend a lot of time writing about journeys and pathways, so I’m going to do my best to avoid doing so here as I need to write about pathways and journeys instead. It’s a big wide world and I am one person and all that other stuff, so I shouldn’t keep on limiting myself in regards to what it is that I am writing. However, I also probably say that a lot and so I should look at avoiding saying that. I should say it less. I should say a lot of things less than I already do.

I should use my voice to draw attention toward other things and maybe there will be some more stuff by the end of a period of drawing attention, and that stuff would be the awareness that would come from drawing attention to the plight that we all face, as well as the plight that not all of us face but some do.

I really should. I should use my voice to voice concerns that actually are concerning, but I don’t and perhaps that is something worth looking into, by which I mean that it most certainly is worth looking into. Well, I do, but not enough and perhaps that is the problem here.

Anyway, I want to keep on going on about that, but not right now as I wasn’t thinking too much about being serious with this one. I wanted to write something that was silly and full of ridiculous statements, but perhaps that is not what is going to happen today.

Perhaps instead of all of that I’m just going to write serious stuff today and that might be a good thing, but i0t could also be a bad thing as it is not what I want to do. I don’t want to be compelled to write in a serious manner either, but sometimes you have to go with being serious rather than silly.

I think that in saying that, however, I might think about other things to do after this bit of writing is done as there is a lot to do and perhaps I can then do some silliness there. However, I still should think about how I use my voice. Regardless of what I do and don’t want to do, I should think more about what it is that I do and do not write and maybe I really need to start pushing more serious stuff forward. If I can alert people to various issues out there, then perhaps those issues can be addressed and resolved the best outcome possible.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 05:44:13

There’s always a lot to think about, but we should always make time to think about how we use our voices.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1064: A Boat

The pain of existence! Oh, how I am tormented by the requirement to breathe and the inertia of conscience and so on and so forth.

It’s another lazy day and it is raining. There is a boat outside at the moment. It is parked on the street and it is currently surrounded by water, and yet it does not float or move or even sail, and that is due to the water surrounding it being within the rain format of water.

There is no conundrum here; there is nothing to question as it makes sense that it is where it is and it also makes sense that it is not floating. However, if the boat were alive then I imagine that it may find itself in a predicament of sorts, what with it not being within its natural environment and all that, yet still being surrounded by that which it usually finds itself sitting upon.

There is what it needs to traverse in the way a boat is expected to traverse, and yet it cannot make use of it in its current state, for it does not rain enough to flood on this particular street.

Maybe in a few years that will change.

I sit here and I think of things that I don’t need to think about and that isn’t any different from usual. Such is the way of things that I say are contained within the way of things.

I could sit over there and do nothing, but that would mean I would not be earning that money that I so desperately need in order to be able to continue on with my regular happenings. Therefore I will keep on working and I will think about the boat some more.

The boat exists as a means to do other activities; some of which involve regular use of the boat. However, I can only imagine that this one spends most of its time not being used as a boat, but rather as something that consumes space, for not all have the time to spend on the water and rather only spend time on the water where they can, for life often takes us along pathways we least expect and therefore we can only go with the flow that is put in front of us.

Of course we can fight the flow and sometimes that pays off, but that doesn’t always pay off in the way that we expect either.

I’m done thinking about the boat. I know it will soon be gone, but I want it gone sooner than soon. It’s bright and it being bright draws my eyes away from that which I am meant to be taking care of, and so I don’t know where I’m going with this so let us just say that the boat is a metaphor for things we want to do with our lives but are unable to do so due to things that are well beyond what control we may have.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:17:96

This was fun to write. Easy, relaxed and not the messiest thing I’ve written.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 1063: Irrelevant Writing

So I wrote this lengthy thing about car issues and I decided to scrap it. Not sure as to why I’m mentioning that except for that it has a reason to be mentioned and so I am now mentioning it and then I will go to the part where I explain the reasoning behind my mentioning this thing that happened.

I wrote out this lengthy thing about car issues and all that and it spun off into a small thought piece and I decided to scrap the whole thing. The question (if there actually is one) is going to be asked, but before it is asked I will choose to answer, for you see there is a reason as to why I scrapped the whole thing.

It was worse than usual and I couldn’t stand behind it, so to speak.

I’m not a great writer by any stretch of the imagination. Arguing that I’m a good writer would be an arduous task. However, there are times where I don’t put something out for various reasons. It doesn’t happen too often, but it did happen this time and so I scrapped a whole bit of writing that I had done. It was not good and I could not stand behind it.

Sure, it is fun to have a bit of a whinge here and there, but this was too much. It went nowhere (aside from the small thought bit), and I didn’t feel right sharing it in part due to that, and in part due to I don’t know.

Sometimes you do your best to put out something that will work in some way, but the only way this worked was how… embarrassing it was, and perhaps it was more embarrassing than usual.

Sometimes you need to hold yourself to a higher standard and so that is what I’m doing here. I am holding myself to a higher standard.

I don’t even know as to why I’m writing this. It’s not important and it doesn’t need to be said. I could’ve just scrapped the whole thing without saying anything, but I did not and now here we are, and I’ve no idea as to what else I can say at this particular juncture in time.

It was a bad writing and it was written and now I’m writing something else in the hopes to dispel the bad writing with even more bad writing. You know how it is, or something.

So anyway, I guess the big thing that I’ve learned from all of this is that sometimes you do a thing and sometimes it is bad. Now of course I already knew this, but here I am saying it as though I don’t know it, so therefore everyone lives happily ever after, expect those who don’t and I keep crapping on about stuff in an effort to create as much irrelevance as possible so that all is overwhelmed with grand irrelevance, making it all somehow relevant to everything for all time.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:33:02

I ran out of steam and so I switched gears and made things more silly.
