Five-Hundred Word Challenge 884: More Rambling About Dreams

A morning daze and it takes a while to wake up, there still is waking up from some sort of state of deep dreaming where the line between waking up and dreaming is blurred and so you just kind of sidestep your way through all these obstacles and then eventually get to where you need to be, though it might just be an interpretation of where you need to be.

For instance, you go to the bathroom and maybe the door’s handle is a little further away from the edge than it would normally be, or perhaps it is exactly where it usually is which still somehow feels off as it’s not what you’d expect. You can’t feel it but it certainly is there and your mind creates a feeling from the memory of feeling, but of course it is slightly off and that then ends up being unsettling.

Perhaps everything else is regular; perhaps it is not. There is every possibility that you might be wondering about chocolate even though there is no chocolate to be had, or something else entirely. It is the dream state and you’ve crossed over into it even though you were meant to cross over into the reality state.

Maybe you are in reality but you still feel like you’re dreaming due to the thoughts that you’re having from only having woken up a few minutes prior.

I don’t know as to where I was going with that, so I’m going to drop it and move onto something else that is related.

I think part of the interesting thing about dreams is that there is a certain sense of “the norm” to them at times; even among the more fantastic dreams, there can be a sense of what is happening to not be out of place. Not always, but sometimes. I think that maybe that can be part of why when someone wakes up from a dream there can be some sort of surprise, or shock, or whatever it is that can be experienced when waking up and realising what you experienced was a dream; I’m not sure of the term. Maybe it is a sense of relief (sometimes).

I’m probably way off on this as know nothing about how dreams operate (outside of a very, VERY light reading on them which probably means I know less than had I not read anything at all [maybe]); Maybe it is much like waking from one reality to another reality. Dreams can feel very real, so (especially if they’re a particular kind of intense) waking up from one can provide relief as you’re no longer living in what was a space that was very much felt like a real reality for a time being, and maybe it was. Maybe it wasn’t.

Perhaps in this waking up from a deep state of dreaming and coming into reality is something that we do more often than we realise, though of course it might just be an uncommon occurrence.

Slower than I thought I wrote, but that’s okay.

Really surface stuff. Maybe I should go for a deep dive on dreams at some point in the near future.

Almost Sideways

A lucky shot.

It almost looks as though the rock dove isn’t moving in the sense that it could be falling in the position it is in due to being very still, or frozen, or something.

The way the rock dove hangs in the air makes me wonder more about their flight. This was taken just after the rock dove took to the air so the way it appears makes sense, but I still can’t help but wonder.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 883: Morning has Flown

Time is passing slowly, and this morning has flown on by.

Soon I will be exiting the house and going on a walk. This walk has tasks that need to see some sort of completion and so there will also be some completing. The completing will relate to the tasks and the completing will be the completion of the tasks.

It’s looking a little grim outside. Not too grim; only a bit. Not the worst thing in the world It’s not a deterrent. I hope it does not rain whilst I walk, but sometimes that is something that happens and therefore there needs to be some sort of preparation for the thing that may happen. If it does not happen, well, at least I was prepared.

Maybe instead of walking I should glide. I’ll glide my way around the place and get to where I want to (or need to) be faster and worry less about traction slowing down my acceleration, or something.

Maybe I could ride the air currents and get to where I need to get to even faster than if I were just gliding. This would be most optimal. Get a good view of everything underneath me, float all the way whilst holding a camera so I could get some delicious areal shots. However, you would not be able to eat them unless they were printed out on edible paper, in which case they would be edible then, but why would you want to eat images that are easy enough to forget about?

Anyway, I think I need to plan my approach a bit more. Truthfully none of this will take much time to prepare, but I also need to think about this in terms of the reality in which I inhabit. I cannot glide, nor float, nor fly without some sort of external assistance and right now that is something I am not looking to seek; rather, the approach should involve having a shower, getting ready and then going on the walk which was planned to be conducted earlier on in the day but is now going to happen shortly after finishing this off as I need to get going sooner rather than later and all that other junk I usually write.

Still, if I can somehow convince something to help me out on this endeavour and that help would lead to less energy expended by me, then I’d be rather chuffed, though then of course I need to think about where else I’d put that energy that no longer was facing use through the power of locomotion. Perhaps I could expend it doing nothing at all. There are so many options to choose from and I’m not going to get into that as… well, I think I’ve done it more than enough times.

Really instead of procrastinating I should just get ready. However, the procrastination is what I specialise in and I need to further my talents before I can really get into the walking.

Just some lazy rambling.

One Thousand Word Challenge 108: Writing Without Music

So right now I thought I’d try writing without playing music, which is something that I don’t often do; not through active attempts to not, but just by not having music playing whilst writing.

I’m not sure as to why I am doing this. Maybe it is to see just how much of an effect music has on my writing. Maybe I just want to try this out. Maybe I just decided and there is no reason. Not entirely sure, but what I am sure of is that at the moment I am writing without music playing and that is currently what I am doing.

In a way it feels odd. I’ve done it so much and perhaps I do rely on music as a crutch in places, but it can be a good crutch to have so long as I don’t rely on it to dictate everything there is in my life, which I don’t. In terms of writing, maybe it is not the best thing to have all the time and only some of the time instead. Perhaps it can get in the way of thinking about the writing and writing about writing as well as writing about thigs that are not related to writing.

And now I’ve hit a wall, which perhaps suggest that I might just rely on music a little too much. Not sure if that is something that I should be worried about. Regardless, it is something that I can work with.

Still, I can’t shake the sensation of this being weird for me, so to speak. It feels unfamiliar. I can hear other sounds outside and I can hear them as clearly as I usually do, but the absence of music sort of makes it feel like something different. On the plus side, it means that there is more focus on what is around me which is nice. There’s less focus on what is coming out of my speakers and more on those sounds both outside and inside my house. Of course I am drowning out some of that as I type as I can be a loud typist and right now I am typing loudly, thus living up to the being a loud typist. Still, what gets beyond the loudness is pleasant enough. There’s enough out there to be considered some form of ambience of which can become its own form of music; it has some sort of form to it, but of course outside of a token gesture I perceive it as formless in this particular moment, so hopefully it does not contribute to the influence that music may have on my writing.

Now I’m not sure as to where I should go from here. To be honest, I wasn’t planning on writing about the experience of writing without having music playing, but here we are and that is what I happen to be doing at this particular moment. I don’t think it makes for exciting writing for reading, but there still is a while to go and soon it will all be written out and we’ll see how this all ends.

Still feeling odd about the whole thing. Don’t know as to what I will do about this once I finish. I’ll probably put on some ,music and try and realign myself with myself so that all feels right again, but before I do that I need to do this and now I’m stumped for what I can write about. I don’t know where to go from here or what to do, and I’m not sure if I can drag this out long enough to justify its (probably) unjustifiable length. This is a bit of an issue but I’m sure that, given enough time, I can surmount what it is that I need to surmount.

Someone was just playing music from their car as they were driving past this residence and perhaps it was a little bit annoying, I found. The reason as to why I found this a little bit annoying is that it wasn’t the music that I want to listen to that was playing. I will survive, of course, but I don’t want to hear their music; I want to hear mine!

Well, not right now anyway. Right now I don’t want to hear any music. I just want to hear the sounds of what I am doing and the birds outside, and perhaps a gentle breeze blowing past something. That would be nice to hear. It also is nice to hear as that is what I am hearing at the moment. I do not hear a rhythm I recognise. I don’t hear shifting melodies and complexity serving written music. I don’t hear any of that. There is some melody on the outside, but that is not a melody I often seek. It is appreciable, however.

And now there are some other sounds in place of others and it is all changing and I’m still writing this out despite having nothing to work off of, which is something to work off of I guess. It’s… interesting? I don’t know what to say. I don’t know where to go from here. I think I’ve drawn this out long enough. Maybe it is time to give up on this bit of writing and move onto something else. There are other things that need to be worried about and I would like to put my music back on.

That said, I will finish this off first. I want to get this to the end before I move on as then I have completed this and can move on. Still, there will be more music and not less after this. That is what I’d very much prefer.

Now, to think of the words that I will use in order to get this wrapped up. This is the difficult part, but I think that I can think of something. Perhaps it will be something that expresses the music from the outside sounds.

This was a fun thing to do, though it also was a struggle.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 882: Mondown

Today is Monday. For some, it it the start of the working week. For me, it is the last day of three days of working before I have a break of one day, then work of one day, then two days off, then another day on…

So that is how I start this one off and now it is a race to the bottom. I don’t know what I will do with the spare time I am afforded tomorrow other than very little. That is not the plan, but it will be what happens. I am slipping more and more into a state of laziness and it is a good state to be in, although it is not and really I am going to try and push through all of that stuff.

So anyway, a race to the bottom. That is what today is. The day will get more and more base and terrible as it goes on and of course I will need to revel in all of that as if I do not, then what is the point at all? There is no point. Sure, the day could be good and I could to work to make it as good as I can, but why would I want to do that? Why would I want the day to get better? It needs to get worse. It needs to start off terrible and somehow sink even lower than I could imagine. That is the only way forward.

There will be stress and pressure dancing with each other and there will be yelling in text format. There will be plenty of things that will annoy and anger me and that’s just the way that I like it as we can’t have peace during a day of paid work. It needs to be pressure and stress and annoyance and anger and hatred and a whole bunch of other thi9ngs that I cannot be bothered to list out at the present moment. Without those things, being lazy tomorrow won’t be as delectable as it would be if I go into the laziness with a sense of already being relaxed.

This should be seen as motivation to do more rather than less, but I’d rather do less. I’m done with this working on things style of life. There’s no point to it and it goes nowhere and so on and so forth. Therefore it is not for me anymore. It is out the window and all the way beyond the horizon. Being stressed out and being lazy are where “it” is at these days and that is what I’m going to ride out into the sunset, where I will see some sort of comfort that I can indulge in and only need to leave at specific points in time. That is where I will be and this Monday will start the race to the bottom, which is that comfort point.

That said, there is a lot of work to be done before then.

Paths Under Arches

A recent photo taken during a recent walk.

This was taken in partly to see how I’d capture this particular area now compared to when I last took a photo of it, which was a few years ago at this point in time.

Similar, yet different.

I think there’s a good sense of size and spread seen in the first arch and its cables. The second arch is less visible, but still feels quite large, I think.

I like how the angle affects the spread of the cables and helps to further impose the structural size of the bridge.

This is my submission into the one hundred-and-thirty-fourth Lens-Artists Photo Challenge.

The theme for this one is “From Forgettable to Memorable“.

The idea behind this one is (as far as I’m aware) showing a photo before and after processing.

The first version of this image shows before processing is from before I started processing. Whilst there are some aspects of it I like, I preferred the processed version, though it’s a little darker than the area was when I took the photo.

The challenge is hosted by four people and cycles weekly:

Week 1 – Patti

Week 2 – Ann-Christine aka Leya

Week 3 – Amy

Week 4 – Tina

This week’s challenge is curated by Tina. The next one will be guest-curated by Sheetal of Sheetal Thinks Aloud.

The challenges are pretty fun and there’s a lot of room for interpretation that doesn’t get in the way of enjoyment. If you’re into photography, then I suggest participating, or at the least checking out what other people are submitting.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 881: A Complaint

Today I am feeling rather annoyed and that galvanises me. Be prepared as this is going to be a lengthy complaint.

Well, it actually is a short complaint but I am going to stretch it out as much as I can as I’d rather do that and I need to let off the steam, so I am going to be a little bit more selfish than usual. Not too much; don’t want to overstep, of course. However, a little bit should be sufficient to getting then point across and then you will know the point and the point will be understood and all that other stuff that I like to go on about.

Now I’m not so sure as to how I will approach the commencement of the complaint. You could argue that these first few paragraphs are where it starts, what with the announcement of incoming complaining coming right up, but I don’t necessarily agree. This feels more like light warming up. Having a bit of a stretch. The preparation phase before the actual complaint starts. There is an introduction of sorts and it gets some stuff across, but there’s not much in it other than the announcement. It does not address the complaint the way the complaint needs to be address, or at least how I wish it would need to be addressed which is at length, taking up far more time than necessary; as such, it isn’t doing much other than the preparation work and that is alright by me, I think. I’m fine to take that particular stance on this particular bit of writing. Next time it may be different; I am yet to make a formal decision on the matter as currently the matter at hand is not that matter and therefore I will be focusing on this and not that.

I think that the approach that I take should be one where I just launch into the complaint right at the start and then espouse on its virtues and then go from there and see where the whole thing takes me. It wouldn’t be that different from usual, though maybe it would be, depending on how I am led down the path of complaints and how thoroughly I derail from the complaint as I imagine that I’d veer off pretty quickly and end up talking about something else. Perhaps something completely unrelated, though of course I’d hope for relation to remain as that would be more coherent, or something.

Anyway, I think that now that all of that has been said, I really should get with the getting on and commence the complaining. If I don’t, then what will I do with the rest of my day? There is so much to put down as there are many words I need to use in order to say very little so I need to make sure that I start it sooner rather than later.

Well, without further ado, I shall commence my complaining right now.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:36:96

I did have something to complain about but instead of doing so, I decided not to and write this instead.

Sitting at the End

I took this photo whilst walking around Blackwattle Bay.

I like the implied mystery of a person sitting there, facing the wall. I also like how the frame helps to draw focus toward the person.

Shadows work in an interesting way here, I think. It’s due to how they cross over the area and create further patterns within the main structure.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 880: Time Passing

Early and dark it is in this bedroom of which has time passing at a rate of one second of time per second of time and right now that is the way that I prefer it as I don’t want to be moving faster or slower through time at the moment. I want to be moving at the ideal rate as that would be ideal for me, I think. Don’t want to have to worry about having to keep up or getting too far ahead. Being in sync, or at least close to in sync with everyone and everything else would be pretty nice as there is no going back. There is only forward, so it might just be better to go with everyone and everything else rather than put into a position where everything is out of balance, or something.

I don’t know as to where I am going with this, but I’m sure that so long as I stick this out there will be something revealed at the end of the writing.

Well, I hope there will be something revealed at the end of the writing. Anyway…

So sometimes there are worries about slipping behind or too far ahead as sometimes the time decides to shake itself up a little throw in a few metaphorical wrenches into the plans of which I want to see execution in, so this changing of the time does not help matters much.

I suppose I should be happy that the shifts are only measured in seconds of time per second of time rather than minutes or hours, or even longer periods of time per second of time. That would be far too worrying  as then things would really be completely out of phase and then what would I do? There is no going back. There is no turning things around when it has all gone far too far. I could try and make up for lost time, but how do I know that there would be people I know still hanging around that I could make up for lost time with? There are too many unknowns.

Of course I’d probably have to leave the room at some stage also. What if I left too late, further exacerbating the issue just mentioned? How do I know as to whether this could or could not happen?

Maybe what I need to do is stop worrying about these things and just get on with the getting on. There is little I can do as it is something beyond my control and perhaps that is fine, though I’d rather not be bound by the whimsy of fate. Still, there are other things out there that I need to worry about and moving out of phase is not necessarily one worth worrying about as there are other things to worry about and so on and so forth. I think I get the idea.

Perhaps another day it is something that I can spend some time worrying about.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 06:46:10

This was kind of a focused ramble. Kind of.

Probably shouldn’t have waited until late into the afternoon before sharing, but I did. Oh well.

Legs and Wings

I think I was really lucky with this photo.

I really like the clarity in this shot as it helps with the focus on the rock dove’s form. I think the clarity also helps to make the rock dove feel quite still rather something moving, even though it clearly is moving.

The wings outstretched hide enough of the body to almost make it seem as though there is nothing obscured by the wings.

I hope you enjoy.
