Hardenbergia violacea

Here is a photo of what I feel is a rather pretty collection of flowers that I saw yesterday. Most of them are yet to fully bloom, which I feel adds a sense of youth to the image.

I feel as though the afternoon light helps enhance a sense of vibrancy without making it feel like it is too much.

I like the space between flowers, as well as the way many of the leaves are arranged. It makes the scene feel more flowing, so to speak.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s TPM photo challenge for last week.

The theme for this challenge is “Floral Week”.

I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit into the challenge.

You can find the challenges here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 728: Thinking About Stuff

Shoulder itchy, as well as head, so need to do a bit of scratching to relieve the itch. Need to get on the proverbial ball and need to roll my way to whatever target I am aiming for. Thinking about it, it seems that moving on a ball by rolling the ball in order to get to the target of which I am aiming to reach might be a bit impractical when it comes to motivations requiring efficiency, so perhaps it would be better to get off the ball and just walk. I’m not good at standing on spheres and using the power of the muscles in my body to manipulate my feet and legs in a manner that allows the ball to roll in the direction I want whilst maintaining both momentum and balance, so… yeah; walking is the much more optimal way to proceed and reach the target of which I am so desiring to reach.

Well, off the proverbial ball I go and onto the proverbial pathway using the power of my legs in order to conduct locomotion in the direction of forward I go, and what a way to go it just so happens to be.

Now that I think about it, how often does one think about the act of walking and what needs to be done in order to walk? How often do we think of people who are unable to walk and how they get around? What do they need to do in order to move in a direction? What muscles and (or) neurons do they need to manipulate in order to go in a direction? Can they do that, or do they need to rely on others to do so? How often do we think about what it is that we need to do in order to do anything? It always seems so simple (and I guess it all is, to some extent), but perhaps it is a rather complex set of instructions that need to be processed in order to have the desired action carried out in a way that makes sense to the person carrying it out.

I guess it’s not something that we really think about as for most people there is no need to think about all the complexities and intricacies that go into making someone move forward. You don’t really think about how to go about going in a direction; You just do.

There are probably many things out there that most people have no need to think about on a level other than strictly surface, but I think it is interesting to do so and see how much you can think about the things that are done each day that are taken for granted. Thinking about how things go together, how parts of the body are manipulated in order to achieve something… these certainly are things I think are interesting. I also think that they’re worth thinking about, as it can help with increasing our understanding.

Happy with the speed.

I wasn’t expecting this to end the way it did.
It doesn’t get as deep as I would like, but I’m still happy with the result.
A bit rough in parts, but has a simple, yet strong point behind it… I hope.

Written at home.

Wharf View

I waited too long to do anything and currently am rather tired, so tonight it’s just this photo I’m sharing.

I like that in this shot what is in the distance is a park rather than a far side of a body of water. I also like how the shadows create a pattern on the wharf’s walkway component.

I feel as though this is a really simple and quiet scene, and it feels rather lovely to me.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 727: From Plant to Forest

Filtration of the sun’s light by clouds covering the surface of the earth, though eventually enough is allowed through. When it pierces the earthly heavens it shines on the soils of which have been moistened by the cloud’s produce. A combination of other factors creates circumstances favourable to allow for forms of life to pierce from the covering of the soil’s surface and sprout into something. It all starts off quite small, but given enough time and favourable conditions, and the small flora eventually grows into something larger.

It takes a lot of time, but eventually it reaches a point where predation is of little, if any concern to its existence. The flora grows thick and large and spreads itself. Over time it reaches a point where it is ready to propagate and, waiting for the right conditions, allows its seeds to spread and thus repeat the cycle.

It takes a long time, but eventually a forest is produced. It is shaded under much of the vegetation, but there is a grand variety of organisms that come to call the forest their home. One single tree ends up housing a whole ecosystem full of invertebrates, as does the soil of which it takes it nutrients from.

Vertebrates sometimes feast on the invertebrates, but sometimes they also feast on other vertebrates. sometimes they consume various flora in order to obtain their sustenance.

Vegetation is thick and in some places perceived as being impenetrable. What those parts hide is likely to be nothing out of the ordinary other than more habitat in which organisms would consider to be their place of residence.

Due to the shading of the canopy in places, some vegetation remains more shallow than in other locations; as such, there are a swathe of natural pathways throughout the forest. Many ways in and out. It remains quite easy to get lost within its grand body, but of course there is always an easy way out.

Given more time and the vegetation continues to spread and form a greater forest. Organisms shift and change. Some leave, some remain. The composition alters, but the forest remains the same as it was beforehand.

The area considered the centre increases in density. Eventually what was a collection of vegetation ends up a highly thickened cluster among a conglomerate. It houses the origin of the forest and all the habitat that it provides. It houses the first plant to sprout that was able to firmly take hold and survive. It contains the first tree that was able to survive and propagate and spread enough to alter what existed to something far more habitable to a different collection of organisms than those that already lived in the area, though of course some did remain. It was the spot where the light of the sun was sustained long enough through a cloud-drenched sky, thus – along with many favourable factors – allowed for the young vegetation to grow and spread, changing the landscape’s appearance to something entirely new.

I feel as though I had something interesting (word-wise) going at the start and ended up fumbling. I’m trying to write more fiction

A Poem About Something Considered Unpleasant

Another quick poem about a topic I’ve written about a few times. Might write again about it tomorrow.

I feel as though I’m being a bit pretentious with this one, but I hope I got what I was trying to say across.

I hope you enjoy.

They gnash their teeth
They stamp their feet
They seldom relent
They continue to demand

They do not use their ears
They do not use their eyes
They do not back down
They enforce their way

They wear you out
They push and shove
They project their petulance
They choose to damage

They refuse information
They reject learning
They denigrate and hiss
Until they get what they want

Downward Leaves

This photo I like mostly due to how it displays details and depth.

I think it probably could’ve been a little bit brighter.

There’s a sense of space that doesn’t quite carry across when you’re in the actual area. It probably has a lot to do with the framing.

This is my submission into Leanne Cole‘s “Monochrome Madness” for this week.
I suggest checking out Leanne’s photography, as well as checking out what other people submit.

A lot of what people are submitting will likely end up here.

I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 726: Vast Plains

Vast plains lie in an open view, stretching far beyond the imagination allows one to think. There is a lot of ground to cover, but all the time in the world so there is no need to rush through the whole thing, This of course means that detail can be observed and atmosphere can be absorbed.

Plants fill the ground in most of its coverage, and trees, shrubs and various formations dot the view. It is lush and vibrant where it needs to be, though in parts almost overly so. The sounds of various organisms carry themselves clearly, with little in the way to block the pushing outward from a source.

The expanse is wide and lovely. Some sort of larger form of terrain rises off in the distance, but there is no worry about reaching it at the present time. It’s all about the exploration right now. It’s all about checking out a river flowing calmly, away from the ocean, yet still affected by the tide’s levels. There are many things to see and much time in which it can all be seen.

The sounds of water flowing slowly lead to the sight of animals drinking and grazing. They seem to be in a rather relaxed state themselves. Any predators in this particular spot could have a difficult time in trying to catch them as this spot is particularly devoid of places that allow the disguising of oneself, thus increasing the chances of sneaking up on anything that might be unsuspecting of danger.

From there the sound of wind blowing lightly reveals itself to the ear as the eyes move toward something else. They move toward the openness once more, looking to pick a location to go to so as to be able to have some sort of walking goal, but of course they settle on nothing in particular as there is so much to see and explore that it ends up so much easier to wander around aimlessly, stumbling upon things that might not necessarily be apparent.

And so the journey continues, along the plains and into various places of interest. the sounds of animals stretch out as far as the plains themselves, though not as one continuous sound. Various flora make themselves apparent without even trying and so many things catch the eye. It is a fascinating place to be and it is all there, signifying the power and majesty of existence.

Unfortunately, even having no hurry does not necessarily mean that it all has to come to an end and so eventually meandering and exploring can no longer be considered as something sustainable to the journey. There comes a point where the continuing onward to whatever destination it was that lay far, far ahead must be journeyed to and so focus on continuing on returns once more. It is a shame as there was more to see than time permitted. Perhaps on the return trip there will be more than enough time to keep on exploring.

I struggled quite a lot with this one.
I think that somewhere I may have been able to turn this into something, but I didn’t get through.

There’s some imagery, but not enough, I think.

Poem about Rain and Clouds

This came quickly, though it manages to be as bad as what I usually write so I’m kind of happy about that.

I think that, as far as imagery goes this does a tolerable job of getting things across, but other than that it’s quite lacking.

I hope you enjoy.

Droplets fall, hit the ground
A loud sound they create
It rapidly repeats and pierces
Blockages only dampen
They do not remove
The sound moves through everything

Soon the falling relents
The sound dissipates
A patch of light appears
Breaking through the clouds
Illuminating whatever it can
However brief that may be

Clouds cover once more
Though no more water falls
And soon the sky clears itself
Revealing a faint blue
Stretching far beyond sight
Until clouds wash in once more

Leaving the Quay

In this image we can see a ferry heading off to its next destination.
Where that is, I do not know.

This is a rather plan image. It’s also a bit busy in places, but I do like that. I like that it’s not overly interesting. It just shows a ferry doing part of what it was made for with a bunch of tall buildings in the background. That said, the next time I capture a ferry I will look for something a bit different.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Five-Hundred Word Challenge 725: Pathways and Branches

Many pathways and many branches, yet only one can be chosen and thus it must be chosen with the act of deciding. That is to say that a decision must be made in order to choose the path. However, in some cases this may not actually be the case. There are times when a path is decided not by deciding, but instead stumbling and accidentally going onto a certain path. Sometimes there is no stumbling and it just happens. There are so many out there with so many different ways of getting onto them that perhaps there are ones that you go onto under the assumption that the path you’re taking is one through the power of deciding. In that particular case, you may have been deceived, though perhaps there was no deception at all. Perhaps there just was no way to know whatsoever.

As such, perhaps there are times when going down a pathway, or climbing a branch, caution must be taken. You can’t always rush into everything, though rushing has its own merits. To deny that would be to deny many a thing and when you deny many a thing there is the risk of denying everything and if you deny everything… well, who knows what could happen? I certainly don’t. I’m sure there are many out there who also do not know. Maybe there is one person out there who does know. Maybe there are no people out there who know. Maybe there is no knowing and just a learning of things that are repeated by some sort of automatic system within ourselves, or something.

Now, where was I going with this? I’m not sure, to be honest. I think I was trying to express something grand and amazing, but I’m not really sure. Perhaps I will find out somewhere in the exploration of other things and concepts, but then again I might just not as I don’t think I will get any deeper than I already have. I’d rather be doing all the empty posturing and close with something vaguely profound in order to make sure that people believe that I truly am the greatest at everything; either that or some sort of wise old soul where my every word must be absorbed to the maximum extent so as to be able to be completely understood as full of meaning and deep with introspection, though really it’s all meaningless waffle, but of course I cannot say that as that would reveal the illusion I’ve shoved in everyone’s faces. I don’t want to reveal that illusion. I’d rather revel in the deceit and misleading so as to be able to get rich quick and thus rest on a pile of money for the rest of my days. Truly that would be the ideal path of which I would like to walk down.

Actually, I wouldn’t. That would not be satisfying. Rather not mislead and deceive where I can. Would rather just unite and keep on pushing forward.

The time it took to write five-hundred words: 07:28:84

Whilst writing this the idea sort of tapered out and then left the proverbial room, hence the switching around to something less thoughtful.
